Who stayed up to watch the entire BCS Championship last night?? I tried my very best, though I ultimately failed, but wow, what a game! I know my loyalty should side with the SEC, but I found I wasn’t too upset when FSU took it away. No matter your side, what a great game between two awesome teams!
David managed to stay up and watch the entire game. He has a tendency to get sucked into exciting match-ups. He isn’t the biggest sports watcher in general, but if it’s a great football or soccer game, you can bet he’ll get into it. Nothing sucks him in more though than the Summer and Winter Games. He had to have surgery once and planned it so his recovery period would be while the Summer Games were on. Dedication, I tell ya.
Speaking of, the 2014 Winter Games are right around the corner! They kick off on February 7th from Sochi, Russia. I can’t decide which my favorite event is, but it’s probably either curling (because I just get the biggest kick out of it) or the downhill skiing, because it’s pretty much what I look like when I go skiing (juuuuust seeing if you were paying attention).
This year, the USA athletes are being fueled by my buddies over at Blue Diamond Almonds. They are the official snack nut of the US Ski Team & US Snowboarding. Why almonds? It’s pretty clear…
“Nutrition is a key component of our athletes’ high performance training program. Our snowboarders and skiers must sustain their energy for long, exhilarating workouts and competition,” said Allen Tran, MS, RD, USSA High Performance Chef. “Blue Diamond Snack Almonds are ideal snacks for our athletes because they are high in protein and rich in fiber which helps them maintain their energy levels.”
I’m pretty sure after that he added that Blue Diamond Almonds also come in so many freaking delicious flavors that everyone can find a favorite. In fact, the lucky US athletes had the opportunity to sample them all and pick their favorites.
So it got me thinking… you know, my life requires sustained energy for long, exhilarating workouts, too. It’s called keeping up with a toddler while pregnant and I’m officially nominating it to be the newest sport to be added to the games.
Then it got me thinking, if it’s tough to keep up with a toddler, just think about how tough it is being a toddler. That requires some serious energy, too, no doubt. That’s when it dawned on me. Fueling for life is just like fueling for the Winter Games! Gosh, I hope the athletes didn’t read that. They might have a differing opinion.
Still, why shouldn’t we all have a dedicated flavor we love to help get us through our days?
So I decided to let Hailey in on the action. And now, for your entertainment, this is what happens when you have a toddler become the (un)official taste tester for Blue Diamond Almonds…
Get in on the action! Send your words of inspiration to the U.S. Ski Team and U.S. Snowboarding via the Blue Diamond Almonds “Inspire Team USA” sweepstakes and you could win a $2000 winter gear gift card and a Blue Diamond Almonds Viewing Kit.
