Now that I’ve broken that writer rule that you should always write your title last, I realize ‘tea talk’ may convey an intention of sharing my favorite teas rather than a play on the idea of a coffee date catch up.
To correct that, I’ll start with sharing my favorite current tea: organic earl grey. I’m contemplating moving to loose leaf soon, so as you can see, life continues to be riveting in my world.
We got home yesterday from a great quick trip to Georgia to visit my mom, dad, and Grandma Betty. Though it was a quick trip, we squeezed in so much fun. There was Rumikub, tubing, riding on the Power Wheel, martini time (for the adults) and tea parties for all ages.
The girls got to pick out real petit fours from Publix, which made it quite the fancy tea party, until Kaitlyn shoveled cake after tiny cake into her mouth, barely stopping to breathe. Where are her manners?! Ha. The girl has a serious sweet tooth.
Anyway, a fun time was had by all and as always, we left with a few more sweet memories.
Now we’re back home, but not quite settling in, as the next two weeks are a little wild a crazy (one more summer trip — Colorado here we come!). The remaining two days of this week will consist of meeting the girls’ teachers and picking up sweet potato chili ingredients. It’s supposed to be a high of 79 on Saturday and though I know it’s a fluke and the summer heat isn’t really gone yet, I’m intending on milking the “cold” snap for all it’s worth.
Chili and football- my favorite! GO DAWGS!
It must be the impending season change, as we head into my favorite- fall-, but I’m feeling really energized. I’m jazzed up to dive into the blog topic list I keep on my phone and tackle other personal passion projects as well with the help of a one-day-a-week-sitter. I (fingers crossed!) think I found a fabulous candidate to watch the girls during daytime hours one time a week. It’s not all finalized yet, but it looks promising.
My heart feels so full right now that I’m feeling pulled to do more to give back. With the holidays not too far in the distance, I’m contemplating ways for our family to give/help/serve. I love my current role within Girls on the Run would like to continue with organizations that are local. I also want the girls to feel the impact of what it means to help others. I don’t know what shape all this will take yet, but I’m mulling around several ideas in my head. I’m incredibly aware of all the blessings in my life (I think being a mom only intensifies that), and David and I both feel called to give back and to try to instill a charitable spirit in our girls.
September has so much to offer. We’re all craving that return to routine and the thrill of cooler temperatures. Hailey will turn FIVE this month and I’ll turn 33. I’m hopeful we can fit in hiking and maybe even camping amid the ballet and soccer practices. I feel so at peace and happy with where I am right now and feel compelled to not only soak it up but to also pay it forward. It’s going to be a good fall.
What is the latest in your world lately?
What are you looking forward to in the upcoming season?
What are some of your favorite charities/organizations to get involved with?

I have been looking for a charity as well so I’m hoping your readers comments will inspire me! I’m looking for something that empowers young girls and their confidence/ self esteem. As a women leader in business, it’s become a passion of mine and I’d love to invest my resources in something that fosters that passion. Would love anyone’s ideas!

I am involved with my local Girls on the Run chapter and it’s a fabulous organization committed to just what you said- building confidence and self esteem in young girls. The program is incredible and would really encourage you to look into it if that’s a passion of yours 🙂

You and David have such a great idea on finding ways the girls can do something for others. It will not only make those that are on the receiving end feel good, but the girls will feel so happy that they can do something for others! Chili and football sounds great–may have to turn the AC up more to do that here this week! Now, GO DAWGS!

“at peace and happy” is a wonderful place to be. You so deserve it as you create and live a bountiful life and share it so well with others. So proud of you! It was wonderful seeing you these last few days.

Ditto to all John said. Being in this wonderful place mentally and physically and spiritually is THE BEST PLACE TO BE, embrace this incredible feeling and hold on to it.
For charities I was involved for many years as a MAKE A WISH volunteer and actually worked with four children from inception of their wish to completion. Now I am involved with St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. There is nothing more important than helping children who are suffering through illness or terminal illness of ANY kind. I feel that is the most important area in life to give back to. I also am involved with the ASPCA. Major dog lover and i just cannot bear what so many dogs go through. Giving them all a chance is so important.

I used to be a much bigger tea drinker and think I need to get back into that… somewhere along the road I started drinking way too much coffee and think switching back would be a good idea. David’s Tea has some awesome flavors, though I’m not sure how many are organic.
I have a September birthday as well! I think it’s a great month for birthdays. 😉

Ooh, so excited for you about the Colorado trip. It’s definitely one of my favorites. If you happen to go into Boulder, there’s a fantastic tea shop called Ku Cha House of Tea. So many wonderful loose leaf flavors (I’m partial to the White Grape). I purchased some White Earl Gray (a much lighter version, but same flavor profile) while in Portland and it is amazing. Earl Gray is my comfort tea.
Have a great time and email me if you want some ideas of what to do! I’ve been there numerous times!
