Forgive me for the inordinate amount of sunshine I am going spew at the world today! I even searched for a fun GIF (I won’t pretend I even know what that stands for) to share with you displaying my excitement, similar to how my friend Alyssa did, but alas, I don’t have the knowhow to find or implement said GIF. C’est la vie!
But let me just tell you that after spending 4 days in pajamas and only walking to and from the bathroom, I felt like a new person this morning when I woke up, HOPPED out of bed to put on REAL clothes and met David for a working breakfast at La Patisserie (a spinach, mushroom and Swiss omelet, breakfast potatoes, which are seriously creamy and delicious and wheat toast, split with the little munchkin).
Seeing the outside world did wonders for my mood! I promise to never take my health for granted again. That’s probably a lie, but I’ll really try not to.
I think I finally felt like rejoining life again last night, when instead of slurping down another applesauce, I opted for real food.
Local asparagus & local steak from Perry Farms. I’m becoming quite the locavore lately and hit up Josh’s Farmers Market a couple times each week. It’s true, local tastes better.
(Served with non-local couscous)
The farmers market has me inspired to get to work in my garden and grow my own food. And flowers. I’m really going to try and get better with tending to my overgrown yard, especially now that I’ve learned a new trick from my friend Jane Marie.
Do you love hydrangeas? I do! And we have a gorgeous deep purple hydrangea bush. Well I learned that if you pull a lower branch to the ground (without cutting it off), put a brick or heavy rock on top of the branch and cover it back up, that the branch will root and you’ll have a whole new hydrangea plant next season to replant wherever you want! More details here. Isn’t that awesome?!
OK, this post has no point. Clearly my energy is back, but my mind is still trying to catch up! Perhaps some time in the garden later today will help clear things up.
What is your favorite vegetable to grow?
I’m going to pick up plants this afternoon!

Anothe hydrangea fun fact: the color of the flower depends on the soil pH 🙂

Whhhaaaaaaaat?! Really?? So my deep purple hydrangeas wouldn’t be purple if I moved them to a spot with different soil pH?? That is so crazy!!
Adria @ A Spoonful of Healthy says
I did not know that you could do that with hydrangeas!! That is so cool!!! Thank you for the tip and I’m really glad to hear that you’re feeling better 🙂

Oh man, I totally wish that I started up a garden! My neighbour grows her veggies/fruits and every week brings us some once they’re ripe. I’ve got to say my favourite are the tomatoes and strawberries. To die for!!! So delicious. So glad you are feeling better!
Maura @ My Healthy 'Ohana says
I love hydrangeas…their full blooms and the leaves…yours are so pretty! The pink ones and the white/green ones are so gorgeous too 🙂

You have to read the book “Animal, Vegetable, Miracle” by Barbara Kingsolver. It’s all about gardening and the local food movement. It’s also what inspired Kevin and I to start a square foot garden in our backyard a few years ago!

Kale is really easy to grow and you get lots!

You can do that with azaleas too. I wish we had a shady area for hydrangeas–they are beautiful!
