1. I didn’t set my alarm today and didn’t wake up until 7:15! It felt sooo good that I almost don’t mind the fact what I’m already hearing Hailey wiggle and it means I won’t get much done this morning.
2. I made a big batch of Peanut Butter and Honey Energy Oat Bites last night.
3. Someone was excited I used up the remainder of the peanut butter.
4. I had a great time making my Cheesy Whole Wheat Ranch Crackers with Terrance yesterday on WCCB Rising (you can watch the video HERE).
I even hung out afterwards to spend some time with the chefs from Peculiar Rabbit, Global and Wolfgang Puck that were on to promote Queens Feast which starts TODAY local friends.
5. They were all so nice and it took all my willpower not to bury my face into all their dishes. I mean, YUM.
6. I’m really looking forward to spending some time on my mat this morning, soaking in Friday and preparing for the fun week ahead… how is that for foreshadowing…
7. I’ve been wanting to do a video blog. One of those ASK ME ANYTHING! vlogs. I’ve been putting it off because what if you guys don’t ask me any questions? Then I’d have to make up questions from fake readers. How embarrassing. But don’t pretend for a second I wouldn’t do that. However, in hopes that you WILL ask me some questions…
Please comment with any questions you may have for me!
Life, exercise, food, toddlerhood, philosophical (because I’m so deep like that … anything!
(Please?)

I have a question for you! How did you get started on doing TV segments about your recipes? That is a huge accomplishment!

I second this 🙂

Hi Brittany! I found your blog a couple months ago when I was looking for a sample schedule for a new mom. I ABSOLUTELY love your blog! I am a little addicted to it. You inspire me to cook more, eat healthier, and, most of all, give me ideas for my almost (next week) 6-month-old daughter! I have a ton of questions for you but will limit it to only 2. First of all, I know you try to get Hailey in bed fairly early in the evenings. How much time does she get to spend with her daddy in the evenings? My husband doesn’t get home until around 6 and I feel guilty for putting her to bed before 8 because it limits his time with her. Also, how (and when) do you work housecleaning chores, like cleaning bathrooms, into your schedule? Your nap schedule seems pretty full without those chores.
Thanks so much!

Wow, sorry about that. *smacks forehead* I was on my phone and accidentally hit ‘submit’ before I was done typing my comment.
Oooh, I love seeing vlogs! 🙂 Here are a few questions: What is your #1 tip to finding time to getting lots done? What would you like as your ‘last meal’? What has been your favorite place you’ve traveled to?
Thanks! I’m looking forward to the vlog. Happy weekend! 🙂

Just wanted to thank you for a fun, upbeat blog. I think for me I love hearing how other people go about there days, and it’s funny how similar people can seem to yourself. I would love to watch one of your video blogs and would enjoy suggestions on staying on track with healthy eating habits over the weekends. Also, I know you run sometimes like I do, and I was curious if you feel like it helps your legs/thighs get slimmer? I run fairly often ( 3 or 4 days a week ) but feel it can make my upper thighs a little larger. So, any tips on things that might help make them slimmer? I heard barre would be a good class. Thank you again for sharing so many great things on your blog. 🙂

Oh I’ve been wanting to do an answer question vlog for quite some time now as well but am worried about the same thing! No doubt you’ll get a ton of questions though 🙂 I’ll think of something and come back to you when I’m more awake today! The cooking segment looks so fun!

Any advice for a recent college grad in making healthier lifestyle changes? I have been working 8-5pm M-F and am struggling to fit things in! Maybe I just need tough love, I know I could figure this out if I put more effort. 🙂

Any tips on eating well on a budget? And what are your favorite go-to snacks and meals that are healthy and easy for moms to make?

Hmmmmmm….A good question for you. Let’s see, I haven’t been reading your blog all that long, but how did you pick Hailey Ann’s name? Did you just like it or is she named after someone?
Christine@ Apple of My Eye says
Congrats on sleeping in! That’s always a big accomplshment for me too :). Those are some great lookin’ balls you have there too ;). Yum! I’d love to watch a vlog from you!

I think a great question for you to answer would be about how your relationship with David has changed since having H. Even though I don’t have a kid yet, it’s something I tend to think about a lot. Would love to hear your perspective!

I’m a fan of the random questions, so here’s mine: what’s something about yourself that you really wish you could change?

-On a fun note: if you could be any vegetable, which would you be? I am assuming you have thought about this before… 😉 ( I can’t say I have one I would be, but I was thinking last nite my house smelled terrible after steaming broccoli, so I can honestly say, I would not choose to be broccoli…;)
-On a serious note: what do you struggle with on a daily basis that frustrates you? Maybe an insecurity, a personality flaw that bothers you, time management ( I doubt that after reading your blogs…;) issues, wanting to be better at something that you can’t seem to get right…
Christine says
Looking at what Hailey eats and judging what my nephews eat makes me really impressed that you’ve been able to get Hailey to eat so many fruit and veggies! The hubby and I are just beginning the talk about having kids, which is very excited and incredibly scary at the same time. Looking back from pregnancy to toddlerhood, what do you think had the most impact on Hailey’s healthy appetite for fruits and veggies?

Those PB & Oat balls look SO good – I’m going to give them a try this weekend!
Here’s a question for you: what kind of natural fueling would you recommend for a marathon? In the past, I’ve used GU gels, but I want to try a healthier option. If those PB & Oat balls digest well, they would be tasty for a run! They’d probably melt a bit, but it would be worth the mess.

That yoga studio looks amazing. I love when they keep the lights dim and make it feel like a cozy retreat. I need more yoga in my life.
I can’t think of any questions…darn. I guess I just feel like I know you so well 🙂 Looking forward to the video though!

Any advice on how to continue to grow my blog. Also, I am leaving for a business trip next week and won’t have time to blog for 3 days, any advice?

Has Hailey shown any signs of giving up her nap? I have an almost 22 month old and she was given up naps already. I really shouldn’t complain, she is in a great mood most of the time and sleeps 12-14 hours at night. I just miss that time to get some more stuff done during the day. 🙂

I recently started up a blog of my own, and I was wondering how you balance reading blogs while managing and writing for your own blog? I find myself reading all of my favorite blogs and leaving no time to write my own post before bed. Do you have any tips?
Also, how do you add your “signature,” your website to the bottom of all your pictures? I like that touch.
Andrea says
This might be highly inappropriate but I was wondering what kind of living a blogger makes? As in sources of income? Is your weekly TV gig paid? Are you paid for anything else? Not asking because I’m curious if your blog is skewed (I’ve read enough to know you wouldn’t let it be!), but because I’m truly curious if blogging can be a living?
Hanna says
Have you always been an optimistic person? How long did it take you to switch from calorie counting to intutive eating? Do you ever crave cheeseburgers and fries?? 🙂

PS – I’m about to try the recently posted pizza dough recipe to cook on a charcoal grill (with pizza stone). It’s SOOO hot in Buffalo, NY right now and with our A/C broken I need to cook outside tonight.

I’ve been traveling a lot to visit my younger sister. She lives in Illinois and I live in Missouri. She’s currently 25 weeks pregnant and has been having some hospital scares. When we go down to see her which is about once a month, it is a 7 hour drive and we spend most of our time in the car after we get there also. This time we spent almost 30 hours in the car on a 4 days visit. Do you have any tips on how to eat healthy while traveling a lot? Do you have any tips on how to stay motivated with exercising and eating healthy?

Have you had Koda since she was a puppy? Did you take her dog training classes or did you train her?
I thought Koda could use some love too. She’s adorable.

OK, here’s my question! What tips do you have for getting organized? As a working mommy of an amazing 15-month old, I have yet to take charge of my new, no-spare-time schedule. By the time little man and I get home from work at close to 6 p.m. I feel like we’re in a rat race to get everything done (of course accounting for some play time!) before bed. I aspire to meal plan/prep the night before but have yet to master doing so consistently. And then to actually have everyone’s dinner ready at the same time and eat as a family seems like shooing for the stars! And then there’s that whole balance we need to strike of playing catch up on the weekend versus actually going out and exploring our city as a family! How’s a gal to do it all?! P.S. – thanks for a great blog! I do enjoy it so!

Brittany, I’ve been reading your blog for several years now and it is the only blog I truly care to keep up with 🙂 I have a 13 month old little girl and was wondering how you handle temper tantrums? We are just starting them and they are challenging! Especially when she starts slapping. It really upsets me to see her get so frustrated!
Ashlee says
Brittany, it seems like Hailey is a great sleeper and is on a predictable schedule. How did you do it? Did you subscribe to a particular method or book? My right month old is still all over the place with her naps and still doesn’t sleep through the night. I need help! :o)
Meghan says
Where did you get the rug that’s in your family room? Saw it recently on one of your posts and really liked it 🙂

So sorry- just saw this! Got the rug at World Market!

Is there anything else to use with the peanut butter energy balls except coconut flakes or can I omit them? I have everything on hand except that ingredient and dont have time to go to the store and I want to make them..
Brittany says
Just omit them! Still taste delicious 🙂
