Today I’m taking a cue from Chelsey and doing a fun fact Friday post! OK, hers are always cute and entertaining; mine might as well be called “I got nuthin’ guys” Friday, but it doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
1. Though I consider myself a very glass-half-full kind of gal, I like to imagine crazy scenarios and figure out how I’d deal with them. Example: have you seen the new show Revolution? If you haven’t, don’t bother, it’s pretty terrible, but the premise is interesting. All the electricity in the world suddenly goes out without warning. No lights, no computers, no phones, no cars, no grocery stores, no running water, no TWITTER?! The horror. I forced David to help me create a full plan to execute if it were to happen here. Water filters, non-perishables, necessary safety measures, the works. Does this make us prepared or crazy?
2. This week I’ve been a bit overwhelmed by this “I can’t do it all” feeling. The girly side of me gets frustrated when I can’t be a great mom, homemaker, blogger, employee, wife and friend all at once. Pretty silly sounding when I type it out. I keep trying to remind myself that you can have it all, you just can’t have it all at once. I’m hoping this weekend provides the breath of fresh air I’m after. I’m looking forward to spend some time outside and around PUMPKINS. Yay for fall!
3. Happy birthday to my wonderful, giving, beautiful mom-in-law!! 🙂
4. I’m attempting to make Hailey’s Halloween costume myself. That should suffice to explain why you won’t be able to tell what she is. More details to come. Here’s a hint, she’ll have antennas. Squee!
5. I’m so hungry! I’m getting blood drawn this morning for a routine physical and have to fast. I’m hoping I don’t have a repeat of my 3 hour glucose test disaster. However, I kind of love physicals. As much as I despise needles, I love finding out my cholesterol, blood sugar and thyroid levels and comparing them to year’s past.
What about you?
Any fun facts to share?
Do you get annual physicals?
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
is she going to be a butterfly!?
Brittany says
Nope, though that would be adorable!! What is Aubrey going to be??
Adria @ A Spoonful of Healthy says
You know Brittany, as women we often put way too much pressure on ourselves. Yes, you’re right. We do get those moments when we feel as though we can’t handle everything that life is throwing at us. But you know what? We always manage to pull through and don’t worry, in Hailey’s eyes you will always be the best mom 🙂
Brittany says
Awww, you are SO sweet. Thank you! I know it’s silly to get bogged down with life, but it still happens sometimes. Kind words, like your’s, remind me to be grateful for the details of life!
Liz @ iheartvegetables says
Ahhh I hate fasting and then getting my blood drawn! I always get light headed!!
blackhuff says
Brittany, Adria said it all. We moms tend to think we can do it all and we can, but sometimes we do feel overwhelmed and then you just need to take a break and do it all again tomorrow. My guess is that you’re going to make her a Shrek costume.
Brittany says
I LOVE the idea of Shrek!! That’s not it, but how cute!!
Paulina says
Enjoy those pumpkins this weekend. I’m going to a pumpkin patch, and can’t wait!
I haven’t had a physical in a while. Perhaps I should schedule one.
My baby girl (er, toddler) is going as a turtle. I am dressing her in either dark green or yellow pants and hoodie and tying her turtle pillow-pet to her back as a shell. When she crawls around with it on it looks convincing enough.
Oh! and my family has a plan that if the zombie/end of times/etc…happens, we’re all meeting at my parents house to start our own compound.
Brittany says
A turtle is an AMAZING costume for a crawler! I want to see a picture! Email me one. I’m serious. Adorable.
PS- I’m glad I’m not the only one with a zombie attacks plan 😉
Hanna says
I often feel the same way. I would love to be Super Mom, but that’s not realistic and stresses me out to the MAX. All we can do is do everything the best we can. Will Hailey be a lady bug?? My daughter was a lady bug last year. This year she’ll be a cowgirl! Yeee Haw! 🙂 My 7 month old baby girl will be a little lamb.
Susan @ Real Life Travels says
Actually, you’re not crazy at all. After I get my My rooms organized I’ll be moving on to my next project: Emergency Kits. It’s the mom in us I guess.
Erica says
I was in an induced coma for 10 days when I was younger. Actually spent my 5th birthday in it!
Brittany says
Whhaaa? Why??
Erica says
Crazy disease nobody has heard of! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epiglottitis
They think it’s what killed George Washington 🙂
Brittany says
Can’t wait to see her in the Halloween costume! The “antennas” are adorable 🙂 Have a great weekend and good luck with the physical!
Parita says
I love getting my numbers back too! It’s so exciting when you see an improvement from the previous year! We’re such dorks but I love it!
Brittany says
Yes! I get out my previous “progress reports” and analyze the data! #nerdsunite
Lisa says
Can’t wait to see Hailey’s costume!! I’m the same that I like physicals for the results just not so much for the blood testing part;)
Dani @ TwoLoveBirds says
I’m addicted to The Walking Dead and always play out that crazy scenario in my mind. My husband and I have a full fledged plan for the zombie apocalypse. Nerds? Maybe. Crazy? Oh yes. Prepared for the impossible? You bet! 🙂
Brittany says
*High Five* for zombie apocalypse plans!
Lauren B says
I’m guessing, from your hint here and then the picture on Twitter, that she is going to be Tinkerbell!
Danica @ It's Progression says
I get annual check-ups and quarterly wellness evaluations. The evals do a bod-pod test plus all the other standard things like blood pressure, oxygen intake levels, etc. It’s always fascinating to me to find out my body composition especially and compare to previous ones.
Brittany says
I’m so jealous!! I’ve always wanted to go in a bod pod. DO you do those quarterly wellness checks at a doctor’s office or a different kind of wellness center?
Danica @ It's Progression says
My husband works for Mayo Clinic and so we’re members of the Mayo Clinic healthy living center and that’s where I get them through (it’s actually a free perk to being a member, which is awesome). It’s such a cool thing to have done since body composition tells a lot more than just the standard weight and height measurements! If you can ever do it I highly recommend it!
Brittany @Berries and Barbells says
I don’t do annual physicals but I know I should!! I have just been to the doctor so much in the past that I avoid them if at all possible. Ok, Ok you talked me into it…I’ll go get a physical.
dani says
that’s not crazy at all! it’s smart to have back-up items stocked up somewhere. you might wake up one morning to your own personal revolution (unemployment, disability, natural disaster, etc), even if your ipod is still working. smart, smart, smart i say 🙂
Jen@HealthyFoodandFamily says
Revolution is one of the few shows my husband and I will watch together, I LOVE it!!!! My husband is an IT guy who finds the show scarier than zombies LOL!
Brittany says
I shouldn’t really say its terrible because I’m still watching it. I don’t think the lead girl can act though and I’m frustrated they haven’t given us any answers yet- haha! 😉
Jen@HealthyFoodandFamily says
I 100% agree with you on that, her acting skills drive me to drink. That scared, worried look she does just makes me laugh now!
Every week I sit there at the end like WTF?! Give me some damn answers LOL!
Jessie says
Can’t wait to see your little girls costume. I’m sure it’ll turn out great adorable xo
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
I’m pretty boring right now, so I don’t have a lot of fun facts. Except for the fact that my weight is creeping up faster than I expected it to! But of course, I don’t look pregnant yet … I just look like I’ve eaten too much cake!!! 😉
Jessica says
Can’t wait to see what her halloween costume looks like!! 😀
Meg says
Hmmm…a ladybug? Good for you for making her costume yourself!
