Andddddd exhale. What a wonderful but busy two weeks it has been around here! It’s been packed full of fun things, but as excited as I was for vacation, I’m possibly equally as looking forward to this week and our first official week of our fall schedule. I’m quite the walking contradiction, as I love spontaneity, but crave routine.
First though, a few pictures to wrap up these celebratory last few days.
Hailey turned FIVE on Thursday and we celebrated three days straight. Her special three days began with breakfast out with Mema.
Then we picked out birthday napkins and a few little goodies for her to give out to her friends. That evening we hit up a Japanese steakhouse for a little hibachi action.
The girls did really sitting at the table (so all it takes is a man putting on a cooking show- now I know!). They loved using their chopsticks and both shrieked and hid from the initial big flame that starts the presentation.
Sometimes pictures don’t turn out quite as planned.
Saturday Nana and Papa John showed up and after watching Georgia Tech beat Vandy, we all took off for KPAC for Hailey’s gymnastic birthday party.
Get your pin-it button ready because here it comes…
I know, how do I find time to do it all, right?!
But really, for a 3:30 party, all we really needed was cake (Thanks Publix!), and Hailey found the set up thrilling, which is all that really matters.
Keep their expectations low my friends.
We had just under 20 excited kids running and tumbling around the gym, which gave me the perfect opportunity to chitty-chat with some of my favorite friends.
Each of these ladies is really special to me and has helped shaped my experience of raising kids for the better. I’m so grateful for them!
After wearing the kids out, we re-energized them with sugar.
We opened a couple presents but in a flash, the party was over, which is good because my nap-less baby’s face was starting to glaze over with sheer exhaustion.
Still cute.
I tried to stay up for the Georgia win that night, but sleep took priority after I fell asleep on the couch. Sunday was a day to relax and reboot. We spent the morning chatting with mom and dad and the afternoon tackling food prep and laundry. I know it will take a few days for the fam to readjust to being in a routine, but man am I excited for it!
Bring on meal plans, activities, purposeful exercise, nap times and routine!… #saideverymomever.
Do you prefer kid parties at home or out?
I really love hosting them at home, but with all our travel and Hailey’s begging to try gymnastics, this worked out perfectly to have her party at KPAC this year. The kids seemed to love it too!

How fun. We also did a hibachi dinner for our little man who is 5 today. And publix cakes are so yummy!!

How perfect! I’m planning my daughter’s first and with tons of people coming I’m feeling very stressed. Thankfully this is the only big bday party until she has her own friends to have over for parties, ha!

The first birthday is so stressful, isn’t it?! I feel like it gets easier as kids are older and can run around and play. The first certainly is super special though, no matter how the actual party goes 🙂

We did our girl’s 1st at home, but I’d love to go out when she gets older.

What a fun birthday!! I think you did it just right!

Great fun celebrating Hailey’s 5th! You host so well. Thanks and happy “routine”!
Brittany Dixon says
So wonderful having y’all here to celebrate it- thanks for making the drive!
Kate says
Oh wow, 5!!! Congrats on your girl!
We hosted my son’s 1st birthday at home and we will probably go the same route for the 2nd, but after that we’ll re-evaluate. I’m not even close to a Pinterest party mom, so outsourcing sounds like a great option. I really love that you keep it simple with your girls’ celebrations. The day is not about the decor after all! 🙂
And K with the chopsticks – so adorable!

oh my gosh, that pic of the girls posing in front of the cake is precious! I love how Kaitlyn is watching her big sis and trying to imitate her 🙂

We did the 1st Birthday parties at home, but ever since we’ve had them out and we are never looking back! Having people do the set up and clean up for you is priceless!!! Plus, it’s just more fun for the kids, especially when you don’t have a big house or yard for kids to run around in 🙂
