Yesterday was weird.
It started when I woke up at 5:30am without an alarm, feeling queasy. I got up to get some things done before the stomach bug took full effect. Only, it never did.
I had no appetite, but around 8:00am I forced down a banana and some tea while I waited for Hailey to wake up.
Only she kept snoozing. Just after 10:00am she woke up. That. NEVER. Happens. She was feeling fine, though. Extra giggly, if anything.
By 11:30am, my sense of time and schedule was all thrown off and I was still feeling queasy. I forced down a carrot cake vitatop and peanut butter.
Then I took Hailey shopping. The temperature reached the 80’s yesterday and on a whim I convinced myself Hailey needed a water table.
And a watering can because she loved it so much. I kept hoping Hailey would fall asleep in the car for a mini nap, but no luck. By the time we got home I was feeling a little bit better, but still no appetite. I tried to eat.
But ended up giving Hailey half of it. She’s on a quinoa kick this week. It makes a horrible mess, but she loves it.
Since I was feeling weak (obviously, I hadn’t eaten!), I decided to skip the gym. Instead we hung out with friends at the park.
Back home I forced my way through making dinner and somehow worked up an appetite.
Afterwards I was exhausted and made it through one episode of Game of Thrones before calling it a night.
Today, I woke up and felt 100% better. In fact, I feel great!
I’m still perplexed by what was up with me yesterday. I’m sorry for this terribly dull recap and link up with WIAW, but what do you think it was? A weird bug? A shrimp allergy developing? Who knows, I’m just glad it’s gone!
Now my stomach is ready to scarf down some food to make up for yesterday.
Have you ever have a day where you’re just completely off for no reason?
Liz @ iheartvegetables says
Hmmm that’s really weird! I wonder what it was! I’m glad you’re feeling way better today!
Jen says
I cannot believe she slept SO long! Crazy. I’m glad you’re feeling better!
Kelly @ Runmarun says
Glad you are feeling better! IF L ever slept until 10 (ha), I would be completely thrown off too. Hope H slept well last night!
Brittany says
She crashed harddddd at 7pm with no nap. Slept like a champ. Who knows?!
Cassidy says
I’m sure everybody will jump to the pregnancy conclusion after this post… seems like Hailey had something up too though (at least in the morning). Just a weird day.
Brittany says
Oh, I totally should have specified that I’m definitely not pregnant. Not trying to be cute and coy either, just definitely not preg 🙂
Paulina says
That was my first thought too. But I’ve noticed that ever since being pregnant once, any time I have more than two symptoms I automatically think I might be. Last time, I was tired, emotional, and everything smelled strong to me so I must be pregnant! Nope. Glad you’re both better today!
Erin @ The Grass Skirt says
It is funny that you write this because I have been going through this feeling on and off for about the past two months. Having no appetite is not at all like me, but I actually just found out that it was related to sinuses! I’m on a stronger sinus medication now. If the feeling returns, you might want to see your doctor too. Oh and I love Hailey’s new watering can! 🙂
Brittany says
Thank you, Erin!! That makes so much sense! I usually do have allergy issues, but without my usual stuffiness and itchiness I didn’t even think of that. Maybe it is allergy/sinus. Thanks!!
Chantal says
Random, but I see you have a City Mini. I’m looking for a smaller, lightweight, umbrella-type stroller, and one friend recommended that one. Do you like it? Is it umbrella-like?
Christina says
We have a City Mini and I love it! But I will say it’s definitely not very compact – once it’s folded, it takes up a TON of room in my trunk!
Nicole @ TheWagners says
It’s not super compact but it is very lightweight and very easy to close and open with one hand. I love mine!
Brittany says
Ditto on these comments. I LOVE our city mini because it’s light, easy to handle and you can fold it up with one hand. However, it has a lot more to it than an umbrella and you wouldn’t want to carry it around all day. But as an everyday stroller, it works great for us. I even wog with it, though it isn’t a true running stroller.
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
Those kind of days are just never fun! I am glad you are feeling better and back to normal today :).
blackhuff says
Sounds like the stomach bug to me. Glad you are feeling better today and it’s always better to skip gym when one feels off like that.
Sarah says
I have had several nauseous days lately. We’re trying for number 2, but I’m not pregnant yet. I think mine is related to dairy, so I’ve cut that out. Hope you’re feeling better soon!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
Yes over the weekend I was the same..hella annoying! Glad you’re feeling better!
Brittany says
really? Maybe it was just a little bug. Just so odd! Glad you’re feeling better, too!
Kim @ Cooking in the City says
That happens to me when I’m stressed out and/or off schedule- especially if it involves a lot of eating out or heavy foods. Usually takes me a few days to recover!
Maria says
Ugh. Sorry you didn’t feel so hot, but luckily, it left just as soon as it came. This exact same thing happened to me on Sunday. I woke up not wanting to eat anything and felt like I was on the verge of the flu and it quickly passed. It’s funny, since I’ve become a “healthier” person (i.e. eating more whole foods / workouts), for the past few years I haven’t gotten sick, but only on the verge of sickness. Maybe our bodies just fight things off quickly? That’s what I’d like to think at least.
Time to assign some chores for Hailey – plant watering!
Brittany says
You know, I’ve wondered that sometimes, too, but then David just laughs at me for thinking that lots of veggies make me superwoman… but if you notice this too, then maybe we are just healthy superwomen? Yes, that sounds about right 😉
Maria says
Fist pump!
I attribute it to diet, exercise, lots of sleep (at least for me) and the climate in CA. I used to get sick with colds all the time when I lived in VA, but haven’t had but one cold since I moved here, which is coincidentally, when I really cleaned up my eating habits. Who knows? 🙂
Kristen@Change of Pace says
That is so crazy! Hopefully it was just something little and it’s gone! 🙂
Nicole @ Fruit 'N' Fitness says
I’m sorry you were not feeling well yesterday, but glad your feeling better today! It’s always hard to eat when your not feeling well, you know your body needs the nutrients but food just doesn’t sound good.
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
That’s weird, but sometimes it just happens.
I was exhausted last night, like lay in bed at 8:00 and couldn’t move tired. Luckily I’m feeling much more energy this morning. Sometimes I think we just overwork ourselves?
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
Weird! Since I saw the comments that you definitely aren’t pregnant, then I don’t know what was going on. I’ve certainly had “off” days, but it’s rare that I lose my appetite for the entire day! Glad you’re feeling better!
Sarah @ Making Thyme for Health says
Glad you are feeling better! Looks like a healthy day of eats too! I haven’t seen the carrot cake flavor Vita Tops before. Carrot cake is my favorite cake- I must find them! 😉
Lindsey @ Pas de Deux says
How weird that you felt off and Hailey slept in on the same day! I know I hate it when my appetite is different than “normal”–it just weirds me out, haha. Glad you are feeling better today!
Karen says
I wonder what was wrong with you the other day. I am feeling a little today but I also took 2 allergy pills and think that has something to do with it…ha-ha. Hope you have a great rest of the week.
Erica says
Glad you are feeling better!
I convinced myself my son (1 year old) needs a water table as well, hahaha. Where did you find one in store? Most places I’m looking (target, BRU) say that they are sold on-line only.
Bri says
Hi! Stopping over from WIAW link-up. First of all, I so wish I had one of those video monitors. I don’t think they were out yet (or at least as popular) when my oldest was born. Second, your daughter is a cutie. 🙂
Glad you are feeling better today.
Olivia @ Liv Lives Life says
It’s so cool that your little one likes quinoa! I love it when kids actually like healthy things. 😉 I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better!
Giselle@myhealthyhappyhome says
Strange but glad you’re feeling better! I’ve had days like that and I always freak out that I’m pregnant. Not that it would be a bad thing just not planned. I always make up for it the next day by eating a ton!
Danica @ It's Progression says
Ugh, sorry it was kind of a crummy day. Glad you’re feeling better today though!
Jen @ Live Beautifully says
Those tacos look incredible! Food allergies can definitely have weird symptoms.. lack of appetite, lethargy. Definitely something to keep an eye on!
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says
I am having that day right now. NOTHING tastes good but I’m forcing myself to eat. I hate it, because usually it is accompanied by super uncomfortable, wonky tummy feelings. I hope I recover by dinner since I ‘m supposed to be going to Richmond for dinner with friends tonight!
Neil Butterfield says
Glad to hear that you are better. There is often a 24 hour bug that floats around, that’s probably what you had.
