Thank you SO much for your support on Friday for my sweet pup. I read every comment and wrote down every suggestion of food or change in habit that you made. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the help! I haven’t decided which food to go with yet (I’m still researching), but I haven’t given her Zantac. I have been giving her Benedryl still, and she hasn’t thrown up at all… however the rash is still there. I can’t tell if it is getting better or not, but I’m keeping an eye on it. Anyways… from the bottom on my and Koda’s heart, Thank You! I <3 my goofy little nugget. ah-roo? Sluuuuuuuuurrrrrrrp
rook at rye rick! I rike rye rick!

Ok, ok… moving on! In order to say thanks for your support and suggestions, I wanted to share a couple delicious treats I whipped up last week. Although I really enjoy making and baking treats, I don’t do it too often because I don’t care too much for sweets. However, it was one of Hubb’s surgeon’s birthdays and I wanted to whip up a little something for the occasion.
Enter… Mini Oreo Cheesecakes. Oh yes, you read that right! I wish I could claim ownership of these little delights, but alas, it’s Martha Stewart original.
You can find the recipe here, and the good news is… they are easy! (yet impressive… just the way I like ‘em!)
the mini cheesecake crust? an entire Oreo. Brilliant!
By the way… these little gems were my first-ever attempt at cheesecake. Who knew it was so easy to make? And of course, what’s not to like about any dessert containing cream cheese and sugar?
After baking and cooling, the minis have to be refrigerated over night. I let one last about 4 hours before I had to try it. Hubbs and I split one and both applauded my success. YUM! And I love that they are pre-portioned 🙂
Although the mini cheesecakes were a hit, I wasn’t ready to clean up the kitchen just yet. I ran across a recipe I wanted to try on Spabettie’s blog and have kept it booked marked ever since. Finally, the time had come! Let me tell you… it doesn’t get any easier than this…
Mini Chocolaty Pretzel Delights
(ummm… I totally made up that name, and although accurate, it’s a pretty sucky name. Suggestions welcome :))
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Take mini pretzels.(I used squares, but you could use circle or whatever little shape your heart desires!). Spread them out on a pan covered with tin foil and get to work on unwrapping Hershey’s chocolate kisses. I used original kisses, but you could use any flavor you like!
please notice the mountain of Kiss wrappers in the background 😉
Once a kiss is on top of each pretzel, put the tray in the oven so they can ‘bake’ and the chocolate will soften.
After about 10 minutes, pull them out and have your topping ready to go. I chose peanut butter M&Ms (I can assure you, they were an excellent choice). However, you could use almonds, or another pretzel or anything else that sounds delicious.
One by one, I topped each pretzel with my peanut buttery treat…
I highly recommend sampling one (or 12) of the goodies while they are still warm… yummmmm. But afterwards, let them cool for a while (over 1 hour for the chocolate to harden). Aren’t they such a colorful little finger food treat?? I love them. They got rave reviews. I can’t wait to try them with red and green toppers for Christmas!
I hope you all have a wonderful Monday, and thanks again for all the support.

Those cheesecakes are adorable!!! I love the idea of a whole oreo as the crust 🙂
And my mother in law makes those pretzel/kiss treats every year — except she sometimes uses pecans instead of M&Ms. They always go quickly!

I love those pretzel chocolate treats — I haven’t made them since I’ve been GF though.. I’ll have to get some yummy pretezels 🙂

YUM. We tried to make those Hersey Kiss/Pretzel treats in college once and ended up setting off the smoke alarm. Oops.
Love the idea of using an entire Oreo as the crust!
And, goodness, I threw a pumpkin dinner this weekend and the amount of cheese and cream cheese involved would put any healthy blogger to shame.
But darn if it wasn’t delicious. 🙂

Ooh, those treats look just amazing! You’ve gotten me excited for Christmas baking! There’s nothing more fun than spending hours in the kitchen on a Sunday morning baking Christmas cookies!

You don’t need a disclaimer! LOL Although I feel you. I seem to feature a lot of treats on my blog (especially while pregnant) and always hope people know that it really is a part of balance that I live by. 😉
I need to try those oreo mini cheesecakes!

I made the pretzel things a few years ago at Christmas and they were a huge hit (and so simple!) My mom has made them with Rolo’s and pecans and omgah are they good!

Your treats look sooooooooooo yummy! I want to make some right now, but I’ll be good and settle for my treat of the week – apple crisp!

That second picture made me literally laugh out loud. And those mini cheesecakes are making my mouth water, maybe for a Thanksgiving or Christmas dessert I’ll try them.

There should always be room in one’s diet for treats 🙂 Those look awesome! The pretzel things look so good – what an easy thing to bring to a party that’s also cute and people will love.
Glad your pup is doing a little better!

Oh cute idea! I’m looking for easy/simple treat recipes to add to the cookie-variety plates I make each year. This is definitely one I need to try!

My sister-in-law makes similar pretzel treats for the holidays. She usually uses rolo candies with caramel instead of kisses and tops them with nuts. The only problem is how addictive they are!
I just read your post about Koda. I don’t know if this will help with the short-term ailments, but feeding dogs a few spoonfuls of yogurt (try plain to avoid excess sugar) several times a week is really good at keeping their bacteria levels balanced. Helps avoid so many digestive and skin problems. Plus, my dog loves the taste of it!
I’ve also heard that lots of dogs can become allergic to chicken, so you might want to see if there is any in her food or treats.
