As July starts creeping to an end, I’m finding myself 33 weeks pregnant and in amazement that we’ll be meeting Baby D in 6-7 weeks. Did you know that only 5% of babies are born on their due date? That fact has this planner in a tizzy with trying to figure out all that needs to be done before baby’s arrival…something I plan to post about soon!
Moving on… let’s break down the facts.
Weight
I’m up 26 pounds and feeling really good about it! It’s funny how the numbers have come to mean less and less to me as the weeks go by. I’m trusting my body, eating quality foods and letting it gain what it needs to gain to produce a healthy baby!
Food
I’m finding that small, frequent meals work better for me. I can’t fit a large meal in me at one time.
And Indian food? The craving is back. It’s is soooooooooooooo delicious! I find myself wanting to eat it several times a week, but with a family budget overhaul underway in the Dixon house, I need to get into the kitchen and learn how to make Lamb Vindaloo, Chana Masala and garlic naan… anyone know some good recipes?!
Exercise
I have to brag on myself and on you for a minute. I’ve stayed committed to staying active 5 days a week. Walking, elliptical, arm weights, and prenatal yoga are still my exercises of choice. I don’t think I’d be nearly as committed without you all to stay accountable to, so thank you for helping me stay on track!
Growing Pains
Things are beginning to get uncomfortable around here as I tote this PINEAPPLE (yes, that’s how big Baby D is!) around in my belly. My lower back pops all the time and I’ve been waking up with really achy hips. It sounds like things are starting to shift in my lower half to prepare for arrival. YAY!
Sleeping isn’t too bad- I’m just up 1x a night to use the bathroom and can usually fall back asleep pretty quickly if Baby D isn’t curled up in my lungs so I can’t breathe. I do notice that my back is full of knots and my legs get sore, even after only 45 minute bouts of exercise, which is crazy. And by the end of the day, the belly feels reallllly heavy. Sometimes I use my hands to help pick it up and I walk around 🙂
Showered with Love
I had a group of friends from all over come visit this weekend, and not only was it wonderful to get all us girls together to hang out, but they threw me a fabulous shower, with so many adorable details! I loved getting in one last girls night with this group and getting to show them the nursery. It’s hard to believe next time I see them, I’ll be introducing them to Baby D in person!
Aren’t my friends gorgeous? And so thoughtful, too! The shower was perfect and I was overwhelmed with their generosity, especially after driving all the way to NC from 4-5 hours away. And those cupcakes? Oh man… there are no words.
One of the games involved making onesies (how cool, right??) I can’t wait for Baby D to sport this one to the local farmers market:
I finally learned how to make a poll!
Check out the right side bar and vote for whether you think Baby D is a boy or girl! 🙂
Only 6-7 weeks left, if I go to 40 weeks. I’m beginning to feel like the baby is going to come on the early side because I just can’t fathom my stomach being able to stretch much further. I’ve already noticed it starting to spread sideways more and more, along with my hips. AH! 🙂
Mac says
That is so exciting that you are getting closer to the date! Can’t wait to see the ever so healthy Baby D when he/she arrives!
Lindsay @ The Lean Green Bean says
such a cute shower! i love all the baby clothes. i’m also on a quest to find good homemade indian food. my hubby LOVES it but i know how unhealthy it is at the restaurant. i tried crockpot lamb vindaloo and it was just ok….round 2 coming soon!
Katie H says
What a cute shower! That onesie is too cute. You look awesome, as always. I’ve been thinking girl all along but for some reason this post has me thinking boy.
blackhuff says
33 weeks already? Sjoe! The time flies quickly. You still look amazing although you are so far pregnant. You sure have done everything right in staying healthy right through the whole pregnancy. Well done to you for that and I am sure your baby is also thanking you for that.
Jen says
You look amazing! And those cupcakes look incredible!
Great job with the exercise! I hope I’m still as active as you are at 33 weeks 🙂
I say you’re definitely having a girl!
Brittany says
Well after your latest post, you still have me wondering if what I think I’m having is correct! Glad we’re going gender neutral just in case 🙂
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
You look phenomenal, Brittany! You have a true glow to you! Your baby show looks like a lot of fun! I bet you are getting soo excited to finally meet the babe thats been growing in side of you!

I absolutely love that onesie!!!! What a creative idea to make them at the shower!
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
Brittany I am so glad you’ve been able to stay active — and I totally agree that having a blog keeps you accountable. I know that is why I’ve been able to stick with my training too.
You look so beautiful and your belly is adorable! Only a few more weeks to go — how exciting!
Jenny says
You still look great and your shower looked super cute! The consistent working out will play in your favor for the delivery (15 min of pushing for me and he was out!) and definitely in your recovery. Your weight will come right off! I cannot wait to meet Baby D! Would love to do lunch soon! Let me know what works!
Brittany says
15 minutes of pushing?? Sign me up for that 🙂
Yes, let’s grab lunch soon. I’d love see you and Garrett!
RhodeyGirl says
I think it’s a boy!
Cara @ ChicMeetsHealthy says

Melissa @ Be Not Simply Good says
I love the centerpieces at your shower! 🙂
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says
Whoo hoo! Can’t wait to meet Baby D. [Although right now I’d settle for one of those cupcakes…]
Maria says
Love the onesie and your shower looks adorable! How sweet!
I voted for boy, but the heart on the onsie has me confused. Baby boy or baby girl, I’m more interested in hearing Baby D’s name! Unless of course you are calling him/her Baby D the rest of his/her life, which would kind of work if he/she turns out to be a rap star. 🙂
Brittany says
Our baby, the rap star! We have high hopes for our little one 😉
We call the baby by the baby’s name, and it’s sooo hard not to slip now! I can’t wait to tell all of you and my family and be done with this pesky secret!
Megan says
Your shower looks like so much fun! You look great!
Caree @ Fit-Mama says
You look amazing!! And your shower looked wonderful!
Do you have a belt to put under your belly? I am not sure what it is called but it helped so much and helped with the weight.
Brittany says
I’ve seen the belts, but haven’t bought one. I seriously walk around with my hands latched together under the belly for support- haha!
I really want to find one of those bands that you wear around your hips post delivery to help everything get back in place. have you heard of those? Any thoughts on them?
Caree @ Fit-Mama says
I got a belly band after my daughter was born and it worked great on top of breast feeding!!! I wish I had gotten one after my son but had no idea about them.
Lauren says
I think onsie decorating is the new baby shower thing. And I think it’s way better than the “smell this diaper filled with melted candy and try to identify which kind it is” thing. I think you look great! It seems like staying active is the secret to a healthy and happy pregnancy!
Brittany says
That was my one request at all my showers- no diaper smelling game!! ewww…. it grosses me out! haha

It’s hard to make “homemade” Indian food straight from scratch due to all the individual and expensive ingredients you have to buy. (Trust me-i know having an Indian family in law and Joe loves his Indian food). Most of the ingredients need to be mixed together in order to get that true “Indian” taste (Cumin, Ginger, etc…). Its hard to get that unless you know someone in India (my own Mother in law gets her spices when she goes over there, it’s too expensive to ship). The best thing to do if you want to make it at home is go to a local Indian grocery store. They have a lot of the mixes/sauces premade for you and you can also buy packages to make the bread. I made Naan from scratch once and it was phenom. That’s the best advice for you that I have regarding Indian food. It’s just a hard ethnic food to replicate for cheap here in the US. I guess you could always google it, but I haven’t really found any that I’m crazy about. If you find a good recipe – let me know!
Brittany says
Thanks for the info!! We actually have an Indian market that JUST popped up nearby, and I’ve been dying to check it out. I’m definitely going to now and hope they have the spice blends- brilliant!
Will you ask Joe’s mom to please come visit me?
Jess Mathias says
Anytime! I love them and the people who work there are soooo willing to help out. Sometimes they even sell food like Samosas there as well. I got 2 HUGE Samosas for $3 once. Score!!! And yes when Joe’s mom cooks Indian its amazing!
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says

What an adorable baby shower! You must feel so loved! My mom claims I was born on my actual due date – amazing that it’s only 5%! I guess it must be both exciting and terrifying to know Baby D could come any day around there 🙂
christina says
I love how active you’ve been! You’re going to have a super smart baby!! Looooooove the onesie!
Erin @ The Grass Skirt says
I love all of the baby things, and the onesie is precious!!!!! I’ll need to get one of those…someday. 😉 I need to examine your belly shots and determine whether I think the baby is a boy or a girl. 🙂
Sarah says
I like EatLiveRun’s Chana Masala.
Oh, and I’m guessing you’re having a girl!
