You know what is one more wonderful thing about having Hailey? Mom likes to visit more often! She says she needs to get her Hailey fix, so it means a day full of girl time, starting with breakfast.
Toast topped with herbed goat cheese, baby spinach and a farm fresh egg.
We followed up the morning by driving over to walk through a nearby neighborhood. Having company and a change of scenery made an hour go by quickly!
I snacked on plain (2%) Chobani topped with Love Grown Granola and a drizzle of honey during Hailey’s nap and enjoyed chatting with mom. Then, off to lunch!
We went to BluStar Grill (which is quickly becoming a favorite lunch spot of mine). I had the spinach salad with avocado, cucumbers, tomato, blue cheese, bacon crumbles, egg with a citrus vinaigrette and a corn muffin.
Hailey has avocado, a sweet potato fry, cucumber and a little Monterey jack cheese. She liked it all, despite the squency face.
After lunch, we headed out to the mall. I stocked up on new bronzer (Laura Mercier – thanks for the suggestions!) and we spent a lot of time wandering through Anthropologie. I want to live in that store. We wore ourselves out and needed a snack.
I went with the new Greek frozen yogurt (I think it’s delicious- honey vanilla!) topped with blueberries, mango, raspberries, blackberries and mochi. I asked my facebook friends what mochi was and the consensus is that it’s some derivative of sticky rice? Oh, it’s so good!
Hailey enjoyed some mango, blueberries and raspberries before we jetted off to Josh’s Farmers Market to pick up some veggies for dinner.
Whew- after a busy day, it was time to winedown.
2 glasses of wine were consumed with good conversation and a delicious meal!
Grilled corn, grilled asparagus, roasted zucchini, squash, red pepper, onion and carrots (all LOCALLY grown- yay for farmers market season!) and a deeeeeeee-freaking-licious New York strip. Have I mentioned the pescatarian challenge is over? More on that later.
Have you ever had mochi?
What’s your favorite TCBY topping?
I love mochi and fruit, though adding cookie dough is sometimes enticing, too
Fun day!!! I haven’t had TCBY in ages, just because there isn’t one near me. But I did have Sunni Bunni frozen yogurt on Monday, and it was awesome. 😉 I got it with half raspberries and half Oreo crumbles. Yum!
Now that’s balance. Oreos and raspberries 😉 Love it
What a stunning day you all had.
Farmers Markets here in South Africa, is only open on Saturdays and Sundays. So cool that yours there, are open on week days.
I love it that your mother wants some “Hailey fix” time 🙂 So cute.
I know! Most of our farmers markets are Saturdays only, but this little one near me is all week. I am so grateful because I go there multiple times a week 🙂
I am all about the gooey brownie topping. Never tried the mochi. Can’t wait for my farmers market to open, although it is quite small unfortunately.
Those pictures of Hailey and your mom are precious!
Mochi is delicious…you should pick up some at the grocery store. It comes in blocks near the tofu, tempeh, fake cheese, etc. You cut it in pieces and bake or pan fry so it puffs up. It’s great for breakfast with syrup or stuffed with cream cheese like a pastry. It also comes in flavors like cinnamon raisin.
Oh really?? I didn’t know that. Now I want to get some to play with 🙂
Glad you found a bronzer…Laura Mercier’s products are amazing!
And I can only imagine how much fun you’re mom’s having with Hailey. Glad y’all are getting to spend some quality time together!
Grandmas are the best! I wish we lived closer to my parents, but they were just here for a week and I don’t think I changed one diaper. 🙂 Delicious eating day… love the local veggie packed dinner!
I love Hailey’s little bib- soooo cute!! 🙂 Your dinner does look pretty tasty. I adore summer and the abundance of fresh produce!
Haha, thanks! A friend gave it to me while I was pregnant. It’s so true 😉
I have tried mochi! It’s like a less sweet gummy bear…I love it! And I just bought some corn and can’t wait to grill it! Yours looks amazing:)
Ohhhh my gosh that grilled corn looks amazing!!!!
I don’t know if they have this at TCBY–I’ve never been to one!–but at froyo shops one of my favorite combos is chocolate froyo with pretzels! I love the sweet and salty combo.
your breakfast looks so good! i have yet to try a farm fresh egg, but now that the farmer’s market is open, i will! MOCHI!!! my old roommate was obsessed with the stuff. she ordered a ton off the internet. it was so funny.
95% of the time I go with fruit toppings (and some dark chocolate chips if they have them ;)). I love tart fro yo so the other “candy” topping just never seem to go as well with the tart flavor.
all of your eats look delicious! I need to start eating corn on the cob again I miss it!
There may be no better aroma than corn grilling… Mmmm. I wish we hadn’t sold our grill now. 🙁
My favorite fro yo toppings are usually toffee, Butterfinger, Oreos, and Reese’s cups. When I am having fro yo, I usually treat it as my splurge, so no fruit involved!
So happy for you to have Mom and daughter time!
I am drooling over all of your meals from the day!! I am so excited for warmer weather to come back to grill everything for dinner 🙂
I’ve never had mochi before or even heard of it actually. Glad you got to enjoy the day with your daughter! 🙂 Looks like a yummy day of eats!
That dinner looks fantastic…I’ve actually never even heard of mochi!
i love the first pic of mom and Hailey. that’s cute.
farm fresh eggs… jealous.
And dinner looks freakin’ delicious. i bet it pairs awesome with that wine. 😉
Hailey is so precious! <3
I'm obsessed with mochi too. I've thought about buying some in bulk so I can eat in constantly, but that's probably not the healthiest idea! So I just save it for my special TCBY treats 🙂
I can’t wait to plant the garden and hit up the farmer’s market – fresh veggies from a road side stand (or even better, your own back yard) always taste better 🙂
I eat a lot of egg and avocado too! Helps me from getting too hungry during the days while bfing. I haven’t been to a TCBY in forever (probably because we don’t have one in-town :/ ), but there is a frozen yogurt place in the local mall I tried recently. Pistachio fro-yo? Awesome. I don’t really have a favorite topping though. It’s pretty much whatever strikes my fancy that day (or if I feel like paying for it at all – hey, toppings are extra!)
Your dinner is making me crave grilled veggies- yum!!! So excited for summer bbq season
We have the same bib 🙂 LOVE grilling corn … I won’t eat it any other way now haha.
I just posted a picture of Chet in that same bib! 🙂
