There once was a time when I couldn’t fathom why anyone would want to exercise on vacation. Isn’t the point to relax? That was when I viewed exercise as a means to burn calories and not much more. Times have changed.
Now it feels good to get out and move! Without the stroller I feel like I’m flying. In fact, I averaged under 10 minute miles on my 2.3 miles this morning. That’s lightening speed for me!
A few wogs and yoga poses on vacation actually helps me feel more relaxed and more ready to enjoy the treats, like this organic superfruit sangria I found at Whole Foods.
We’re staying at a friend’s house that has a fabulous kitchen, so we’ve been enjoying eating healthy foods with our plethora of wine.
Farmers market corn and okra with fresh fish. It’s fun to gather all in the kitchen for some laughs and good food after the babies go to bed.
We’ve been having fun with the babies, too. We visited the beach.
Both Hailey and Parker sampled the sand.
We played on boats.
We’ve gone swimming and worn ourselves out.
Hailey actually loves her room and has slept like a dream. This leaves the nights open for mom and dad to drink wine and play music trivia with friends into the night. I’ve been reminded of just how awesome Boys II Men, Mariah Carey and Ace of Base truly are.
Do you exercise on vacay?

Looks like you’re having a great time. I love working out on vacation. I am always less rushed and feel like I can actually enjoy it. Plus I usually get to workout with my husband which is rare otherwise! 🙂

I used to, but on my last one I took a break. I did do yoga in the mornings if I was up before anyone else but that was all. I loved it, and it never hurt to take the week off at all. If anything is helped me!

Yay, I’m so glad you are having so much fun on vacation! The place you are staying looks amazing and I am so jealous of how well Hailey is sleeping away from her own room! 🙂 We have the same Pack and Play BTW. Have a great weekend!

I definitely exercise on vacation. We try to go places where exercise is the fun part of the trip. We honeymooned in Alaska where we rented mountain bikes for the week, and did a lot of hiking. Most recently we went to Arizona where hiking is probably the best way to see the views. I love going places where exercising is an integral and fun part of the trip!
Looks like ya’ll are having a great time on your vacation!

My favorite kind of exercise are activities that don’t seem like exercise. Hiking, long walks, or possibly a light morning jog.

Excising on vacay always feels great! I’m hoping to rent a jogging stroller the week we are at the beach so I can walk / run every morning with CK!

I always exercise on vacation, but usually I have a rule that I can’t step foot into a gym, since I always do that at home. Instead, my hubby and I go for hikes, runs, snorkeling or bike rides to explore the town. I LOVE vacation exercise!

How lovely that Hailey has been getting some good sleep, so you can enjoy your wine nights 🙂
Great job on working out on vacation! I do sometimes, I guess it depends where I’m going and if there’s access to a gym, but I don’t make a big deal about it if I don’t!

I always that that exercising on vacation was a no no. I actually have never done it! But after reading this post, I get why it’s done. Good job!! Enjoy the rest of your vacation!!

I try to always exercise on vacation, but it doens’t always get done. I do feel more energized and so much better when I do though especially since I usually don’t stick with my normal eating while I’m away!
It looks like you guys are having so much fun! I love that pic of Hailey on the beach! Such a cute photo!

I just answered the same question on another blog haha! I think it depends on the situation and the type of vacation I’m on. But I try to get out and be active in some way. On our last vacation to Marco Island, we got up almost every morning and went to the gym or went running on the beach. But when we go to Europe on our cruise, I have a feeling we’ll be doing a lot of walking each day, so we’ll see if we decide to do anything else! 🙂

Super fruit sangria?!?!?! I absolutely MUST find this. I’m crossing my fingers that Whole Foods in Richmond will have it!

Wow, looks like I dont know how to type. Must be the stress from not being on vacation anymore. : ) my comment should look like this:
I have a new found love for running on vacation. I went to the beach about a month ago, and started running again while I was there, and I’ve kept it up ever since. I was so relaxed stress free, and had all the time in the world while on vacation that it made running easy and so much fun!

I love that you two had a wonderful time.
I did exercise while I was on vacation last year in December because my vacation was more than a week long. But if we take a break-away for 3-4 days, I don’t.

I packed my running shoes for our 1.5 week vacation and didn’t touch them. Instead, I tried to find other ways to exercises that were more appealing: walking on the beach, jumping waves and boogie boarding, swimming laps in our pool and basketball. I am happy that I didn’t write off the entire week and stay glued to my beach chair 🙂
