1. How I rate a pedicure is 1% dependent on what my toes look like and 99% dependent on how long they rub my feet.
Eh, forget that 1%.
2. I start to develop a tick if I’m stuck in the house too long.
Rainy day, David working, perfect for hanging out at home but it’s honestly easier for me to load up the girls and head out than to sit around.
3. I know nothing about tomatoes except they are absolutely delicious and I suck at growing them.
Davidson Farmers Market must have known this and set up a tasting display showcasing the different varieties of tomatoes. I thought it was the coolest! #foodnerdalert
4. I have problems with wanting to capture every moment of my children’s lives on camera. I really need to learn to CHILL, but deep down I fear that one day I’ll really want to look back on that tummy time session they had at 9 weeks and 1 day old and regret that I can’t.
5. I ran a new postpartum best – 3.3 miles! – yesterday…
and it was my first time using an energy chew for actual exercise (instead of popping one to help me keep up with the kids).
On a side note, remember when I used to talk about fitness? Yeah, me neither, but I am still riding yesterday’s endorphin high and am PUMPED about getting back into fitness again!
6. I reallllly don’t want to be one of those moms that thinks their child is a special little snowflake and treats them as such, but I get such a kick out of Hailey.
The excitement she had yesterday about loading up her cart and helping scan the groceries was unreal. We had a full on grocery store scavenger hunt. I’d say avocados and she’d run to go get them. I like this motherhood gig.
7. I get really confused with the concept of open-faced sandwiches. They look gorgeous, but how do you eat them? Hold the cheese like it’s the top piece of missing bread? Use a fork and knife? Let’s just say it wasn’t my most graceful meal.
Don’t be shy… share a fact about yourself! And have a wonderful Monday
John J. says
Way to go on your wogging return! How many push ups did Kaitlyn do? Did Hailey pick out your favorite wine at the grocery store along with the avocado run?
Brittany Dixon says
Just wait- Kaitlyn can put me to shame with her current fitness level! 😉
Jen says
I’m soooo with you on these, especially 1, 2, and 4! Great job on the run!
Tina Muir says
I loved these facts! So honest, and many of them I have often thought about…open faced sandwiches….i think you just have to rub them all over your face, and try to not wipe it off with a napkin…..what did they expect hahaha!
Brynn says
I am really bad at painting my own nails. It seems like something you’d learn over time, but I’ve never gotten better. Thank goodness for manis and pedis!
Brittany Dixon says
I painted my fingernails for the 4th and ended up telling people Hailey did it because I did such a horrible job- haha! So I feel ya 😉
Brynn says
Oh my gosh, I am dying. That is too good!
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables says
Haha your girls ARE super cute!! I love that she has a little mini cart!
Kelli M. says
Totally with you on #1!
Danica @ It's Progression says
Congrats on your run!!
Karen says
Fact about me….I have never had a pedicure and probably never will:(
Brittany Dixon says
Why is this? Do you not like the idea of someone else touching your feet? Or have you just never been treated to one? If it’s the latter, I am emailing you to get your address to send you a gift card. I AM DEAD SERIOUS. You deserve one. Every woman deserves one at least once!
Karen says
Thank you for your kindness but I will pass on your offer. I spend countless hours on my feet and even a pedicure could not help my feet look nice.
Your kindness is appreciated though:)
Tiff @ Love, Sweat, & Beers says
Haha, I’m right there with you on a lot of these, as is apparent by the 1000000000 pictures of Ethan. Gosh, it’s been about a year since I’ve had a pedicure. I think I’m due!
Marjorie says
I love random fun facts! 🙂 So here is a fun fact about me: I make my grocery list in the order that the isles are laid out in the grocery store. If I have made a random un-ordered list, I re-organize it to be in the order I walk the store. Grocery shopping apps make this easier now, but I used to re-write my list! Otherwise it takes me too long to shop, and I am very likely to forget something.
I need to check out those energy chews. Good for you for squeezing in a great sweat session.
My tomato garden took a turn for the worse while we were at the beach. Eek! I am trying to revive them.
Brittany Dixon says
I love our mutual grocery OCD’ness- haha! Though I don’t organize my list like that regularly, I have before and it does make it SO much easier to get in and out of the store.
Jaclyn @ BumpSweat says
Pedicures are the best! Sometimes my toes look so terrible before going in that I’ll at least trim them and scrape off the tiny bits of polish leftover from the last time I paid any attention to them 🙂
Brittany Dixon says
That’s sweet of you! I always just hope they’ve seen worse and hope they don’t call me out 😉
Sarah says
I once apologized for the state of my toes before getting a pedicure. I received a “no problem! This is my job!”
Laura @ Mommy Run Fast says
I completely agree on the pedicure, and the need to get out of the house! Although if I’m alone, I can definitely appreciate a quiet afternoon or evening at home. But with kids- I’d much rather be out and about!
Jill Shelley says
What is under all that cheese on that open face sandwich? It looks wonderful!
Brittany Dixon says
Tuna fish salad with onions and tomato. In summer I add tomato to everything haha!
Jill Shelley says
I’m going to copy! I don’t know why but it looks more appealing having the long onion pieces rather than the minced onion I usually put in tuna.
Tori says
Totally agree with you on the pedicures! I have one this week and am soooo excited! They better massage my feet for more than expected 🙂
Heather says
I get super twitchy if stuck in the house for too long. It often means our house is a mess, but I’d much rather get out and do something on the weekend then stay in and clean. I don’t care if everyone is grumpy and throwing a tantrum – generally once we’re out, we’re all happier. 😉
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
I am totally with you on the pedicure thing! The best part about them is the foot rub. I can paint my toes myself 😉 And I am quite fond of open-faced sandwiches. I almost always end up eating them with a fork and knife, though, because otherwise I spill the contents all over myself 😉
jackie says
Could you discuss the energy chews you mentioned in this post? What made you choose these chews and how do they make you feel? I ALWAYS need energy, but I don’t think coffee is the way to go. is this a heakthy alternative to coffee.
Thanks!
Brittany Dixon says
I chose these because I trust Shaklee’s science and research (thus why I am partnered with them) first and foremost. Originally I didn’t think I was an energy chew kind of person but had ordered some because a friend wanted to try them. One afternoon I was dragging and popped one and was pleasantly surprised at how it woke me up without making me feel jittery or crashing. I’m not a coffee drinker because it makes me shaky and I end up more tired later, so I was surprised I liked these. Also, they are more affordable than other energy chews (like Gu brand) and are made with organic green tea extract and are colored with turmeric (no artificial colors). If you have any more questions, do feel free to email me! 🙂
Katie @ Pick Any Two says
I’m the same way when it comes to taking pictures of my son. I’m convinced that the minute I put the camera away is the minute he’ll flash me the perfect smile with the perfect background in the perfect moment that I’ll want to remember forever but won’t be able to. UGH!
Dominique @ Eat, Pray, Lift says
Posts like these are so fun! I’m with you on the pedicures, and I don’t think you’re too far off base – Hailey is the cutest little thing!
Random fact: I just washed my hair for the first time since last Wednesday. Sorry not sorry? (Don’t worry, I’ve got a lot of hair and it’s really dry/wavy, so no one could tell…I hope…)
Brittany Dixon says
I have the same kind of hair so I totally get it! 🙂

I am bored for the moment. Here we go:
1. I put my groceries on the black conveyor belt thing in the way/order I want it bAgged for speedy unloading. I choose my lane not by length but by cashier age (I like middle aged best because they are experienced and logical —-unlike some of the young ones who are fast but bag terribly— and Middle Aged are not as slow as senior.)
2. I am a fantastic nail painter – I started when I was 8 and used to paint my finger and toes (and my mom’s) all the time. Having said that, I still love someone else doing it, but I am highly critical of the paint job!
3. I tried to count my freckles once.
4. I love love love trains and subways and loved commuting into NYC. But yet, I am pretty much a germ-o-phobe (which doesn’t jive with the level of germs probably present on them). I would also rather drive than fly any day. (My brother is the opposite on both these accounts)!
5. I react very poorly to all medications.
6. I exercise for emotional/mental health…..that’s it. I know it’s good for my physical health, but that’s not my driving force.
Jen@HealthyFoodandFamily says
I’m a million times worse with this baby than I was with my first, probably because she’s the last one, but I want to savor and remember every single minute! She is 3 months and rolled over yesterday, not even lying when I say I cried a little because I didn’t get a picture of it.
GiselleR @ Diary of an ExSloth says
YES! About the open faced sandwiches. I try to bent it taco style but I’m not always successful at keeping everything in haha.
Also, I’m a homebody except in the Summer. I get itchy if I’m home too long when it’s bright out these days but in Fall & Winter? You usually can’t pay me to go outside lol
Maria says
Haven’t had a pedi since April! Not to say I haven’t painted my toes bc that’s a must, especially in the summer! I need to get one, eventually!
Tomatoes are delicious! My mil just gave me some from her garden and I can’t wait to try them!
Yay running! Feels so great to lace up and get out, right?
Jen says
I love your pedicure rating system. I’ve only had one in my life and there was very little foot rubbing. Maybe that’s why I never went back??
Diana says
Ummmmmmmmmm, PLEASE PLEASE share what you are eating at the end there? The open faced sandwich? yum!
I agree, i have NO clue how to gracefully eat, or create a sandwich. It falls apart all the time and i end up shoving it in my mouth somehow or another lol………..so be at ease knowing you are not the only one 🙂
Brittany Dixon says
Oh it’s a simple sandwich! Sourdough toasted with tomato, onion, tuna fish salad and melted cheddar. Mmm!
Jillian @ Baby Doodah! says
WAY TO GO on the run!!! That’s so awesome!!
I’m the same way about taking pictures of Emmett. Every single thing he does I am in awe of, so I take pictures constantly. Today, he saw me pull out my phone to take a picture and he got up and said, NO MOMMA!! lol Poor kid!
Bethany says
That sandwich you had pictured for number 7 looks delicious!! Please share the recipe 🙂
Brittany Dixon says
Oh it’s a simple sandwich! Sourdough toasted with tomato, onion, tuna fish salad and melted cheddar. Mmm!
In my tuna salad I just combine tuna, a little real mayo, celery and relish. 🙂
Irina says
I love open faced sandwiches – just hold the sides of the bread. This is what I grew up with – I never had two pieces of bread until I moved to the US. Your melts look very tasty!
I never ever get my feet rubbed when I have a pedicure… I am super ticklish and have to ask them to not do it. I always get stares… “this lady is CRAZY” and a $5 discount. Before I got married the lady who did my feet insisted that I get them scrubbed using a pumice stone…she was a little old lady with an iron will, and OMG, I scared ALL the customers away screaming and never when back to that salon…
I totally agree on taking the kids out – it is a lot easier, especially for the toddlers. Now that my daughter can enjoy lemonade, ice creams and limited shopping, she loves being a big girl and have an outing. She loves the playground too, but it is triple digits here in CA most days, so air-conditioned places get the business 🙂
thanks again for sharing – what a fun post 🙂
Sarah says
I get a kick out of my son, too (he is around Hailey’s age). I know what you mean about not wanting tt treat them like the special snowflake, but it’s just so fun when we find out we not only love our kids, we really LIKE them, too.
Maryea {happy healthy mama} says
Awww–my little ones love putting the groceries on the belt, too! Isn’t their excitement for these little things contagious? I love it.
Great job on your run! Glad you are feeling great. 🙂
emily says
Hey! Huge congrats on the run!! I know how great that accomplishment feels since I was just there a couple months ago. Also, totally have to agree with you on the open faced sandwiches! I have no idea how to eat those… Hailey is so super cute! Those grocery store trips are fun 🙂
Is it a bad thing to take all those pics?! Because I have over 1200 on my phone alone. Can we say obsessive need to document every moment? I can’t stop! I know I’ll miss it once it’s gone so I’m trying to hold on to what I can.
Stacey @ Binge Free Me says
Your kids are adorable and you are hilarious! I LOL reading your posts!
She Rocks Fitness says
I love open faced sandwiches, but I agree, they’re kind of a hot mess to eat. I usually end up using a fork and knife. And as far as pedicures, it is all about the massage. I feel like they’ve gotten kind of weak lately and if you want more, you have to pay extra. 🙁
