I have an odd fixation with the weather. I like, no, I NEED to know what the day (fine, the next 10 days) holds despite the fact that forecasts are notoriously incorrect. Why? I have no idea, but if you want to know what next week looks like, there is a good chance I can tell you the details down to the percentage of rain expected.
Still, I try to keep this little quirk of mine concealed and not be one of those people that… well, you know… oh shoot fine…
Yes. I am now one of those people that posts their local weather forecast on social media. I feel all the cares coming through the screen.
But just look at that. It’s June for goodness sake. What do temperatures at this level mean for us once August hits?! Water temperatures of the lake and pool are already hitting levels of too-warm-to-be-refreshing (not a scientific level of measurement) so come late summer they’re going to be boiling.
I know, the drama.
I like warm weather, but this is taking it to the next level. So instead of whining about it (what, too late?), I decided to go with the theme and see how many things I actually like more when they’re HOT.
For example…
Yoga. How wonderful that studios aren’t having to pay to heat and humidify their studios right now. Class can now be held outside or with the help of an open door. How lovely for them.
Or, what about cookies?
Mmm, yes. My entire family may like them stuck in the freezer, but I prefer a warm, gooey cookie, fresh from the oven like the ones pictured above or these, which look phenomenal.
Let’s take things one step further. It is, after all, almost father’s day. So what about husbands/boyfriends/main squeezes… totally better when they’re HOT right?
Such a ladies man. You stud.
And though I have zero desire to hop in right now, I’d still throw my vote in for tubs. Tubs are better when they’re hot.
…bonus points if they span from indoors to out.
One more? Is that what I hear you chanting?
Your wish is my command.
What about food?
Food is better when it’s HOT and spicy, thus why I’m a big fan of hot sauces. Sriracha has become my go to, along with the rest of the blog world.
Sigh, so cliche…
I put it on toast then top it with avocado and egg. I use it in marinades for chicken. I’ve put it on potatoes, stir-fries and even popcorn. So when I heard Blue Diamond captured the flavor for their almonds, I was stoked to try it out.
My go-to flavor is usually the Habanero BBQ but the sriracha variety held its own with it’s garlicky undertones and splashes of vinegar. It had a little sweetness and I could certainly taste the chili pepper flavor, but it didn’t burn my mouth up. Dare I say even people who aren’t big spicy fans might really enjoy the new flavor?
Mmm…
Let me think… what else is better when it’s hot?
Dogs!
Hardy har har.
Seriously though, I might have eaten cold hotdogs from the fridge once upon a time (I’ve always been a foodie), but man I love a good hotdog off the grill during summer. All the toppings, please.
Ok, now I’m stretching. Off to sunscreen up, stuff my water bottle full of ice and hunker down for the next 10 days of unseasonably hot weather (so says my forecast).
What is one thing you like better when it’s HOT?

Ha love this! I actually love hot water. For some reason cold water just doesn’t do it for me. I truly believe hot water has a taste!
Brittany Dixon says
Wait so you drink plain hot water on the regular? That’s so funny! I love it 🙂
Tiff says
Ha! These temps are bonkers. I can’t tell how much of the discomfort is pregnancy related, or maybe the whole family would be okay with me cranking the AC.
Brittany Dixon says
I’m sure it’s intensified being pregnant, but the heat is something serious to me too!

Grilled hot dogs and Blue Diamond almonds get plenty of votes when its hot – and when its not!
Brynn says
Hot dogs – knee slapper! I love sriracha and am on the hunt for these nuts. One thing I love hot is coffee. Really warm coffee hits the spot for me every time.
Brittany Dixon says
I really wanted to put coffee too but it’s a toss up between hot and cold for me… depends on the season I guess 🙂
Sam says
No one wants to go in a cold hot tub! That image of the spa that goes inside to out looks amazing! And that view! :-O

Clever and cute post – love it!! I, too, am loving these new Sriracha almonds from Blue Diamond!

That indoor outdoor pool is perfection!! And my husband would love those nuts!

I like hot coffee as I find it lasts longer…I drink ice coffee way too fast and then end up sad that its gone. (and needing more to keep me awake) I also love hot showers and long walks on a hot beach, haha
Sarah says
Ooh, yes! I feel exactly the same way. There’s definitely something about curling up with a hot cup of coffee.
Brittany Dixon says
Oh man, curling up with coffee makes me crave fall, but it’s way too early and hot to be thinking those thoughts 😉
Alyssa @ Life of bLyss says
LOL! I love where you went with this post. And now you have me really, really craving some freshly-baked cookies. You know, hot ones.
Morgan @ Morgan Manages Mommyhood says
I’m the SAME way with the weather – I need to know!! It drives my husband crazy, because I’ll be like, oh,looks like we’ll be stuck inside the Sunday after next!
Heather@hungryforbalance says
Speaking of these ridiculously hot temperatures, how about a hot fudge sundae- it both hot and cold and so delicious!
Brittany Dixon says
YES! You, are brilliant. I’ll take one right now please!
Erin @ The Mini Skirt says
Haha. I love this. I cannot get over how hot it has been here lately! I think you covered all of my favorite hot things, but on another note, we postponed our trip to the zoo tomorrow because…well…steamy hot animal poop isn’t exactly high on my list of favorite fragrances. LOL.

Haha! Probably a good idea. The zoo is awesome, but steamy animal excrement… not so much 😛
