Hey yall! I’m popping in on a Sunday for no particular reason but to share some of the weekend happenings. Nothing particularly awesome even happened, but it’s been the first weekend that really felt like fall to me.
Saturday started with breakfast at Toast in Davidson.
I ate The Romelet. It’s totally different than what I usually go for- it had MEATLOAF in it, but surprisingly, it was pretty darn tasty.
After breakfast we wandered the Davidson Farmers Market. I loved these funky gourds!
We also quickly realized that it was Taste The Market day! Barbee Farms actually hired Chef Rosen to prepare fresh dishes using their produce for people to sample. His recipes were amazing!
The market was like Costco on a weekend, but fresh. Goat cheese, empanadas, just-picked vegetables- I was in heaven.
We sampled until we couldn’t take another bite, then loaded up on chili making ingredients.
I don’t think I’ve ever made chili with all FRESH ingredients. To be fair, I still haven’t. Chili is David’s specialty, but he used all farmers market finds.
Real tomatoes, fresh poblano peppers, local beef. What a difference!
…of course, then we paired it with Fritos. Balance.
Meanwhile, it poured outside. So cozy.
I cracked open a beer to watch my first football game of the season! (We don’t have cable, just an antennae and finally the Dawgs aired on CBS!)
The, at half time, we headed over to Susan’s house.
Football is even more fun with friends and babies. Watching the kiddos play together was pretty darn cute, too.
The Dawgs ended up beating the Vols after a more intense game than I was expecting, but it sure was fun to watch football again! Well, fun for me. I won’t mention David’s GT Yellow Jackets. Or their loss to Middle Tennessee.
Today, the sun is shining again, so the cozy feeling is gone. Off to meal plan and clean (with a little help from Mr. Belvedere!)
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

My brain can’t even comprehend eating chili without fritos.

Yum! Chili sounds awesome. I am definitely needing it to cool down about 10 degrees here for it to feel like fall. I want to boots gosh darn it!

BABY PIGTAILS!??!! Shut up. Seriously. Shut up.
I scrolled through the entire post just to say that. I have to go back and read it all now. 😉

Go Dawgs! I am still waiting (impatiently) for fall to arrive here in Santa Barbara. Maybe if I consume pumpkin at every meal, the weather will cooperate and cool down! I need a cozy day!

Can you believe I’ve been to the Davidson Toast, but not the Dilworth Toast, which is less than a mile for me? So good! I’m trying the local version on Monday. If you’re ever at the Davidson farmer’s market and find yourself at Cold Water Creek’s Booth (that’s my CSA farm booth) and say high to Farmer Brad.

it is 98 degrees in Northern CA, and although I got all the ingredients for chili, I am not sure I picked the right weekend to make one! 100 degrees tomorrow, so much for the fall! 🙂 Such a nice weekend you had, and baby pigtails are adorable! Thank you for the surprise weekend post – so positive, it made my day!

Football (or Rugby here in SA) is more fun with friends. I agree.
You’re getting rain and we still need some more. Much more.

Love Davidson and Toast!! And chili from fresh ingredients sounds so good. We had chili last night, but our ingredients definitely came from cans!
