Since Mondays are usually long days for Hubbs, we decided to postpone Valentines day until Tuesday. No big deal, since Valentine’s Day isn’t really one of the holidays I get all excited for. It was cute in high school when you were waiting to see whether your boyfriend of the month would bring you an oversized stuffed dog, but other than that, I’m more on the side of ‘show the person everyday how much you love them’.
Well, I was surprised when Hubbs showed up at home early (6:00ish) with delicious gifts! Not only did my sweet Hubbs bring me flowers… he also brought home sweet potatoes!
So we started off with an appetizer of sweet potato rounds…
While he doctored up the steaks! (Sorry veggies, the steak was delicious).
Once the steaks were sizzling on the grill, we popped a bottle of bubbly!
complete with raspberries… my favorite!
It was picture perfect.
And so was the dinner! Hit the spot as a perfect Valentine’s Day meal!
Which we finished off with a few sweet bites of Chocolate Mousse Pie. (Is that how you spell mousse?)
I love my Valentine.
How was your V’day? Do you celebrate it?

Looks like a nice relaxing evening! Chris and I traded gifts on Sunday night because he gets so excited to give me my gift that he can’t wait til the actual day of the event. Our gift exchange wasn’t just in honor of valentines though. Our wedding anniversary is the 17th so it was a combined gift. Last night we relaxed and ordered take-out; nothing too fancy.
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says
Yes, that is how you spell mousse.
The more important question is…can I have some? 🙂

Looks like a great Valentine’s day! We kept ours low-key and went to a local outdoor place and had oysters by the water. It was great. 🙂

I -think- that’s how you smell mousse. Hmm. I am a crappy English major! 😉
Your Valentine’s dinner looks great!
My SO and I are not exactly into Valentine’s Day. I didn’t exactly do anything super special for him, but he did bring me a “Be Mine” PEZ dispenser, some Godiva conversational truffles and some Hello Kitty gummy candies along with a card. That’s right…a quick stop at Cost Plus before he walked in the door.
I guess my Valentine’s Day was a lot more grade school than grown up, but it still made me happy. The gesture is so small, but he just wanted to show me he didn’t forget, and that’s all I wanted to know! 😉

YUM on the champagne and raspberries!
My valentine’s day was lonely because my boyfriend is in the army and out of state. But we did celebrate the weekend before when he came to visit and it was really nice.

That champagne raspberry combination looks great!
We didn’t really celebrate v-day. I made blueberry pancakes for dinner, and I spelled out I (heart) U on hubby’s pancakes with the berries. I made hearts on the kiddos’ pancakes with berries.

Staying in on v-day is so much more fun than going out! We made steak, roasted asparagus, and chocolate fondue 🙂
