In case you were wondering, it’s not a smart move to take a two month old that looks like this
then stick her in the thigh with needles three times and throw her in a car seat for 5 hours while being the only adult in the car.
Who knew?!
After mentally high-fiving myself as she slept the first two hours of the trip while her sister read books, I got what was coming to me in the form of the following:
Two torrential downpours
A toddler who gagged herself trying to get a tiny piece of paper off her tongue and made herself throw up on her blanket
A screaming baby who after pulling over I realized didn’t want to nurse, but just to be cuddled
Spit up (a bucket full) down my arm and shirt
and a night full of wake ups. Pesky shots.
But in the end, it’s all ok. I arrived to this:
and family to chat with.
And this morning I got to do this with a baby that is back to being smiley:
in these:
And now I get to spend today celebrating my beautiful Grandma Betty’s 94th birthday. So I’m going to go get to it.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Anything fun planned?!

Oh Brittany- not fun!! A screaming baby in the car is so tough And I get so stressed when I have to drive through a downpour. So glad you made it safely- it sounds like the weekend will more than make up for your rough trip, I hope!

I know that wasn’t fun but it’s nice to read about the not so great experiences. You do such a good job writing about them! 🙂 Have a great weekend with your family!

Shots are (a necessary) evil! I always dreaded them with C. That face going from innocent smiling to the hurt of betrayal…like “Mama, WHY did you let them STAB me in the legs?!” Breaks my heart every time.
Sorry about the tough trip, but I am glad you arrived safe and sound.
Love the new kicks too. Super cute!

Boo, shots are awful! I hate when Elizabeth has to get her shots! I’m glad you made it safely and are now enjoying family time!
We are going to shoot the hooch if it doesn’t rain tomorrow!

It’s the long weekend in Canada so I’ve got the annual road trip to small-town family reunion! Woohoo 🙂
Lauren says
What a day! Props to you doing it on your own 🙂
My little guy is 12 mos and I hate shots appts. He’s such a happy baby and his face scrunches up so fast :/ I always show him his face in the mirror after and give extra snuggles.
Enjoy your weekend
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables says
Oh wow, what a day! You definitely needed a little relaxing after all of that! 🙂 I’m glad you’re able to see the positives of the whole thing!
Jessica says

Oh Girl, so sorry to hear about the rough trip! 🙁 We’ve had a few of those too. So glad there was a rainbow at the end filled with wine and family!

Aw man sorry girl! I always cringe before our long drives, but when we get to our destination I get amnesia and forget the misery. 🙂
Tina Muir says
Oh no! what a day! But one of those days you can look back on and laugh….right? Well maybe in a few days time! At least it is done now, and you have learned your lesson. Now go enjoy your weekend, and soak in many moments with that gorgeous girl…when she is in a good mood!

Glad she’s fine and hope toddler is ok too! Enjoy the fun weekend!
This weekend I’m doing a color run in the morning excited because all the ticket proceeds goes to a school for the deaf! Then 40th birthday lunch and some shopping and if I’m up to it a baby shower

Rough car ride! Long car trips are never too fun with kids–especially when there’s more than one! Glad you’re with family and get to relax now. Pretty new shoes too!

Emma had a horrible time with those 2 month shots, she was a whimpering, screaming disaster. She has her 4 month shots coming up in a couple of weeks, not looking forward to them!!
Lani says
So sorry about the day. I feel you! We have an 11 week old too, and it can be hard to gauge what will upset him.
Are you woggjng or walking with a jogging stroller or something else? I’m unclear when we can start jogging with them.
Brittany Dixon says
I’m wogging with a little more jogging than walking, BUT my jog is equivalent to most people’s walking 😉
I asked my ped about it last week and she said with Kaitlyn’s head control (and my lack of speed- haha), I’m just fine to wog with her. Still, I’ve probably only done it twice. I prefer stroller free wogs when I can manage it!
Elle says
What a ride! I’m glad you ladies made it safe and Happy Birthday to your Grandma!!
Giselle says
Oh no shots are no fun! At least the drive had a happy ending 🙂 Enjoy your weekend!

You came out the other end and that’s all that matters!! I’m glad you got to get out in some awesome new shoes!! Well deserved, my friend!! I think that little driving mishap means you’re good for at least 6 months – Hailey, and Kaitlyn, I’m talking to you guys 😉 hahah
Maria says
Alissa had the worst afternoon and evening after those 2 month shots. It broke my heart! And once again, leading parallel lives, I just bought a new pair of Brooks too! In the same colors! I got the Ghost 6. They feel great! Hope your new sneaks are treating you well.

Glad you weathered the storm… Pun intended
