Can I please say that you ROCK. Yes, you all are AWESOME. Thanks to your advice and support, I kicked my morning run’s butt!! Ok, let’s back up for a minute…
I woke up pretty dehydrated… like I had eaten too much salt. I couldn’t say I was surprised though. I’m sure it had nothing to do with with last night’s dinner… ::cue dream sequence music…. dodo-do-do…dodo-do-do-::
So I grabbed a glass of water as I threw on my running gear, and decided to take your advice and “fuel” my body with a little something. I didn’t want to put too much in my body, so I decided to get a big bang for my buck via PB&Co.
I probably should have gone with normal peanut butter for sake of easing into putting something in my body (you keep multiple types of peanut butters in your pantry, too, right?), but no… no no, I wanted my new, delicious, fancy PB&Co… White Chocolate Wonderful! YuuummmmMM! Imagine eating just the inside of a Reese’s peanut butter cup. Because that’s exactly what it reminds me off!
I inhaled a couple finger fulls (that’s a measurement, trust me) while Koda took care of business, then we were off!
What. A. Difference.
Awesome. I felt so much more energized than yesterday and more powerful. Because of only a few fingerfulls of peanut butter? I guess so! It was the only difference. The last 5 minute sprint was still fairly challenging, but I completed it and got back home without feeling weak/woozy… despite what I might have looked like 😉
SCORE! Thank you all so much for your advice!
There was no way the PB&Co was going to hold me any longer, so I whipped up 1 egg + 1 white, 1/2 piece of toast (all that was left) and some cherry toms for color!
Also made some coffee… and by coffee I mean 1/2 skim milk, 1/2 coffee. Just the way I like it!
B-T-Dubbs (that’s a really annoying way to say BTW… by the way) check out my fabulous new coffee mugs! I scored these at a weekend garage sale and I love them! They are huge and have a wavy rim… and they make me happy.
So you might (or might not) be wondering why I was chowing down on pizza last night rather than some home cooked goodness… well Hubbs and I were in Charlotte for a seminar about the wellness industry. I was invited by my friend Jane, who is a distributor for Juice Plus.
The talk was very interesting, and had a lot of good facts. I wanted to share 2 of my favorites…
2008 was the first time ever that chronic disease killed more people than infectious disease (2x as many people!)
The wellness industry is growing: Five years ago, the health and wellness industry is worth $200 billion dollars in sales. Recently, this wellness business has grown to over $500 billion in sales, and it is projected to continue growing and reach $1 trillion for the next five years.
This is a good sign because it is showing that more people are becoming proactive about their health and trying to avoid entering into the broken health care system.
The talk focused on mostly on the wellness industry, not specifically health facts, and since my passion is focused in food as preventative medicine and taking control of your own health, I found it very insightful. It also had me take a closer look at Juice Plus. Have you heard of JP? At first look, you may think it is a supplement, but it is actually categorized as a FOOD because it is whole food nutrition (fruits and vegetables turned into a powder and made into capsules or gummies).
I don’t currently take Juice Plus myself, but am impressed with the research I’ve heard thus far that backs it up.
Do you take it? Why? Have you heard of it? What are your thoughts on JP?
If you haven’t heard of it, please check it out and let me know your thoughts!

Whoo hoo! I am glad the run went so well! Nice work. 🙂

I’ve used the PB trick a few times before a run. I also drink a cup of coffee before I go. I swear it works.
Rachel says
Interesting about the peanut butter I may have to try that. I usually don’t eat before my runs, and I’m also not normally hungry for a couple of hours afterwards either.
Out of curiosity, what was the chronic disease they were talking about? Or was it just chronic disease in general?

I haven’t tried it.

I’m sure juice plus is great, but I know a woman who has tried to sell me the stuff for over a year and I dont buy bc she is just annoying—she totally turned me off on it!

I have never heard of that juice plus stuff. I am hesitant to try stuff like that, to be perfectly honest! I’ll give that site a better look when I have more time.
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says
I am very much regretting my decision NOT to purchase the White Chocolate Wonderful today…

Hey Brittany, where do you get the White Chocolate Peanut Butter? It sounds amazing? That would be great in your smoothies! Especially the chocolate shake!
Thanks for the Juice Plus plug!!! If anyone is interested, please know I will be glad to send them more information (promise I won’t be annoying!). We have a Children’s Research Program where kids can get Juice Plus+ free! If they want samples of the soft chewables (formerly Gummies and now without the corn syrup) or the JP+ Shakes, let me know. Glad you went last night and found it so informative. We really have to be proactive about our health!
Oh, BTW, could you send me some of the pizza and salad???
🙂

Isn’t WCW the best peanut butter EVER!? I could inhale an entire jar if I’m not careful. 🙂
And that juice plus sounds interesting – I’m gonna have to look more into it.

I love the idea of JuicePlus, and was very tempted by the chewables, both for myself and the toddler, but the price is definitely intimidating…
