Hello and happy Monday! How was your weekend? Celebratory? A little tough? A combination perhaps? Whatever the circumstances, I hope that all the moms, all the variations of moms and mom figures, felt loved and appreciated. Cheers to us for loving our people the best ways we can! Motherhood is a role I always dreamed of fulfilling and I feel a deeper appreciation for being given the opportunity with each year that passes. I sure do love my girls! But let’s back up for a minute and chat about the weekend…
Friday was my get the house cleaned and in order day, so schoolwork for the kids was kept simple- math, reading, and DIY science which was a combination of working on egg drop projects and Mystery Science. While I cleaned and hit up the chiropractor, I listened to podcasts. And since I always am curious what others listened to, here was my Friday podcast line up:
- Him & Her – Piers Morgan Unfiltered
- Best Laid Plans – In the Weeds: Thoughts of Climbing Out of Overwhelm
- 1000 Hours Outside – Why So Many Are Sick Before They Even Grow Up
- Him & Her – Dean Graziosi On the Truth About Money, Mindset, & Success
Friday late afternoon, K and I left for her Friday night theater performance. Though she has a small part in this production, her commitment and enthusiasm for it has remained strong. It’s so fun to watch our kids do what they love and she sure does shine when she’s on stage!
Saturday morning we were up early and heading back to the theater, this time with the whole family in tow, Mema included! We dropped her off early then wandered the nearby farmers market before pouring into the auditorium to cheer her on again. After the performance we went to a celebratory lunch at Firebirds before Mema took K for a quick pre-birthday shopping trip before heading back for her final performance.
David, H (as in Hailey, not Harry, IYKYK), and I headed towards home. We stopped by a friend’s birthday party for her precious one year old for a quick bit before going home to set up for our friends that were coming to visit. A soccer tournament brought our besties to town and we were all thrilled it meant a family hangout to help celebrate the May birthday girls.
We grilled out burgers, turned on some soccer, and played Samba while the kids ran amuck trying to start Nerf wars with the neighbors before coming in for cake and movies.
Did you notice my switch from Sauvignon Blanc to magnesium? Yes, I’m impressed with myself, too 😉 I knew two glasses of wine would be enough if I wanted to wake up feeling good for Mother’s Day, and I did!
Sunday morning I had chicken duty, so David went with me to the coop to feed and water the flock. If was cool and rainy but I still think it’s so much fun. Don’t mind my tired eyes; it was early!
I came back to make breakfast – Mason Dixie frozen biscuits are *so* good if you need a good heat and go biscuit option. Our friends love a good workout, too, so we all did a full body Madeline Moves workout before cleaning up and giving them hugs as they headed out.
From there, David worked on building our chicken coop while having the girls clean up the house and giving me a couple hours of quiet to get some stuff done. David’s parents came over mid afternoon and it was such a treat to get to just hang out and chat!
We all went to an early celebratory dinner at Coastal Crust. They headed home afterwards and my sweet crew gave me handmade cards (the best) and handmade jewelry and gave me head scratchies and feet massages while I drank magnesium with my red light mask on and we watched an episode of The Wonder Years before we all tucked into bed on the early side, happily exhausted from a good weekend.
Mother’s Day predictably leaves me feeling grateful for all the wonderful moms in my life. My own, of course, who I got to speak with and tried to convince to move closer to me… is it working, mom?? If there’s anything I do well in motherhood, it’s because of what I learned from her growing up, modeling love, support, and patience so effortlessly, though I’m sure it wasn’t always as effortless as she made it look.
I’m grateful for my wonderful mom-in-law who raised an incredible son that has made all my dreams come true as we navigate this life side by side. She has the most incredible energy and the deepest love for her family, always showing up with a smile and always supporting.
I’m grateful for my mom friends who all shine with their special gifts and inspire me to always be striving to do better in different areas of motherhood and life.
Now I’m off to take on this rainy Monday and hoping you have a wonderful one, too. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy belated Mother’s Day! I’m with you with thanking my mil for raising my husband to be a great human being too! Glad you had a fun weekend with family and friends. I love listening to podcasts while doing housework, red lighting, etc. One I’ve been listening to lately is Heal Squad x Maria Menounos. She has lots of health topics, informative with a light/easy to listen to vibe. I love then finding new to me people through podcasts to add to the list. Have a great week!

Happy Mother’s Day!! I always tell my family that Mother’s Day is every day. Not that they need to praise me or anything like that, but it is such an honor and they are such a blessing. <3
I am commenting, just to reiterate that I love it when you post daily. 🙂 So YAY to 'Old Style' blogging.
Make it a great week!

Aw, I love your reverse thought on Mother’s Day being everyday because it’s such an honor. So true! Not always easy but always a blessing. Happy Mother’s Day to you, Kathy! <3
