Happy 4th of July! We are ready. This year we are hosting a group of good friends that we haven’t seen in way too long. Altogether there will be 8 adults and 4 children all under one roof. Worried about our sanity? Don’t be. We have plenty of beer.
We also have plenty of food.
Yesterday we made a big ‘ol trip to Food Lion to stock up. Apparently David doesn’t trust me to go on my own in fear that I will attempt to buy nothing but organic ‘hippie food’ for the entire weekend. He says I don’t know how to shop for groups and he is probably right.
Our friends arrive today, so last night we prepared the house. Clean sheets, scrubbed bathrooms and a picked up playroom.
Again, David wonders why we clean a playroom when we have kids coming that are about to destroy it. And again, I don’t have a good answer. But we will most likely be spending a lot of time up here if the rain doesn’t let up.
Oh, the irony…
Despite the weather, I know it’s going to be a fun time. It won’t be the Lake Norman tie up that we experienced a few years ago…
…but I’m not sure I could hang like that anymore anyway.
(I take that back; I could totally hang.)
This weekend will be about spending time with good friends who knew me before I knew what good earrings were.
So cheers to good friends and the good people and soldiers that protect our freedom day in and day out. Thank you for all your service and Happy July 4th!
