We had an old, slow pontoon and now with the boat club we have access to really nice tritoons, wake boats, and all the toys that go with them (tubes, knee boards, etc). We really enjoyed it last summer and have been anxiously awaiting being able to get back out on the water. Friday was the day!
We grabbed a reservation in the 9:00-2:00 slot and even though it was still cool on the water, it was so much fun to be back out there! Our friends joined us and we went by boat to get lunch at Eddie’s. We sat outside and soaked up the sun- a great kick off to the weekend.
Friday evening was Kaitlyn’s first soccer game. I’m adjusting to the fact that between Hailey’s schedule and Kaitlyn’s schedule, we’ll now be at the soccer field on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. That’s a lot.
But gosh I sure do enjoy watching them play! Last year Kaitlyn was a bit timid in soccer, but on her new team she was a whole new player. She hustled hard and had a great time! We picked up a pizza on the way home, then when the girls went to bed, and David and I watched Joker, which we both felt was good but moved really slowly.
Saturday morning began in a relaxed fashion. We all hung out on the porch, drinking coffee and eating donuts. I read some Harry Potter (the girls are so into it right now and ask for me to read it all the time). Late morning we finally got moving. David and I got in a workout, then he did yard work while I went to buy some plastic Adirondacks for the firepit. It was quite a fun adventure for me to get them all to fit in the car…
Late afternoon we lit a fire, put out some snacks, and invited some friends up the street to come hang out. I made a new gin cocktail (gin, raspberries, lemon juice, a splash of simple syrup, then top with soda water) that was delicious! The kids ran around while the adults chatted for a while. When our friends left, we kept the party going, playing Kube, listening to music, and eating the ribs David smoked by the firepit.
Sunday was productive. It was all about projects, chores, computer work, laundry, etc. I feel the girls (mostly Hailey… is it an age thing?) have been a little whiny lately when I’ve asked them to do stuff, so I was glad when David took the reigns, told them to get dressed and get outside to help him cut wood to repair a bench and fix the sprinkler system.
We got a run in (3 running + 1 walking) in the afternoon and I hit up Costco, too. Back at home I took a shower, put on my Sunday face mask, made dinner (Greek shrimp pasta over half spaghetti and half hearts of palm noodles- Whole Foods carries a name brand option now), then we read a Harry Potter chapter on the couch before all crashing hard, exhausted. Bring on a new week!
