I jumped back up this month in our spending and I’m not surprised. I got a little disinterested in tracking, especially while navigating special occasions like Hailey’s birthday dinner and dessert and the kids wanting to make me birthday dinner and dessert.
I also threw some “on a whim” items in my cart like Hailey’s favorites chips (Late July Jalapeno Lime), Zevias (root beer), Fritos to go with chili, etc.
Lastly I stocked up on some essentials, like our Butcher Box, oats, and butter. I haven’t seen butter go on sale in forever, yet we’ve used a ton of in baking lately so I just went for it and bought the Costco size butter supply. I also got the Kitchen Aid Pro for my birthday so BRING ON fall baking 🙂
Publix | $638.12 |
Costco | $520.93 |
Butcher Box | $172.38 |
Food Lion | $52.90 |
Lowe’s Foods | $32.08 |
TOTAL | $1,416.41 |
I know I could do better though. I’m planning next week to just use up the random items I have on hand like sundried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, etc. It’s also easing into soup season so I foresee a lot of soups in our future. I love how soups stretch food out, are filling and comforting, and are just plain delicious. I also started experimenting with sourdough recipes in the bread machine. A hybrid yeast loaf just turned out beautifully for morning avocado toast- I’m going to make it again to ensure it wasn’t a fluke, then I’ll share!
Are you shifting into more fall foods? Do you find that you spend more or less in certain seasons?

Your grocery bill this month was similar to ours and we had three birthdays in there which meant baking three cakes. Haha. Yay for fall foods! I’ve been making chili once a week for a couple weeks now. I even made a lamb soup and Camryn devoured it.
