Thanksgiving week is officially here and I am officially excited! It’s one of my favorite holidays and I can’t wait to hug all my family. You’d think with that kind of anticipation I’d have all my ducks in a row, but I ::looks around at destroyed house and overflowing laundry basket:: don’t. We did, however have a fun filled fall weekend!
Saturday morning we had a leisurely breakfast and as the day developed, the wind really picked up, making it feel more and more like fall.
The lake is crazy low right now (everybody do their rain dance). Those leaves though!!
We spent the day playing around the house and setting up the remainder of our Christmas decorations. I’m thinking a holiday decor tour post is in order next week- what do you think?!
We played with our toy train, watched our football teams (both win!) then pulled together what we needed to attend our first Friendsgiving.
I brought a kale salad with pine nuts and pomegranate arils in a shallot dressing. It’s an old recipe of mine and was well received so now I’m thinking I should take more pictures and share the recipe?
I was also giddy to use one of my Beer Greeting carriers. They have so many cute designs (like this Christmas plaid) that are perfect for holiday gatherings, fellow beer aficionados.
Back to Friendsgiving… Julie did such an incredible job on all the Friendsgiving details!
The house was warm and inviting, the food smelled amazing, but best of all it was full of some of the friendliest people and… wait for it… babysitters! Julie arranged for 2 sitters to keep an eye on the kiddos so the adults could actually hold a conversation during dinner and it worked brilliantly.
Hailey and Kaitlyn were the oldest kids (break my heart- I’m not used to that yet) and loved helping with the “babies.” Eventually they got hungry though and came down to join us, bringing their napless antics with them.
Kristine, does this just sum up the post meal mayhem or what?!
Wearing my favorite top to go with leggings (I bought it in two colors!)
We had such a good time that we accidentally kept the kids out until 10 – oops! Somehow they hung in there with the best of them, though Kaitlyn apparantly turned 15 over night and slept in until almost 10 am the next morning!
Please notice the aforementioned mess filling up the background.
Post “brunch” we packed up the kids and ended up spending the entire day park hopping. Locals- have you tried the new equipment at Ramsey Creek Park yet?
It’s basically a zipline but with a swing and the girls LOVED it. We played on it for over an hour and Hailey still cried when we left. We also tried out Holbrook Park in Huntsville, after grabbing some PubSubs, which has a great set up (and clean bathrooms!) too.
Finally we made a stop by my friend’s LulaRoe Party where I picked up my first LulaRoe piece! Am I behind on the times or what? The rumors are true- it’s SO comfy that it feels like wearing pajamas, so I couldn’t resist wearing my new top out last night to a girls’ dinner with my small group.
I’m planning on snagging a pair of the famous leggings soon too. If you need a hook up with LulaRoe, I highly recommend joining me in Lawson’s facebook group. She posts really helpful styling tips, pictures, etc and you can buy right through the group.
Whew, this post is kind of all over the place, but so is my mind right now as I prepare to gobble til I wobble (those cheesy sayings were made for people like me!).
Have you ever attended or hosted a Friendsgiving?
What are your Turkey Day plans?? Are you prepared?

That kale salad looks good! Do you find that non-kale eaters enjoy it? I am in charge of salad this year and those invited are slightly behind the times on how awesome kale can be.

I think they did! The secret with this one is to make it a day ahead of time. Marinating in the dressing helps it become easier to chew and more palatable.

We had a friendsgiving last night that was genius! They hosted people for drinks and then we walked across the street to family style Italian dinner. Easy no muss no fuss!

Italian dinner, family style– what’s not to love about that?! How fun!

Love the outfit! I joined the group so I can snag a pair of the leggings, too!
Brittany Dixon says
Oh yay! You’ll probably see me there… scouring for Christmas leggings 😉

That is so funny you mentioned LuLa Roe – I was a vendor in my first craft show this weekend and the lady right in front of my booth was LuLa Roe! I had never heard of it – until I read your blog right now I thought that woman had sewn all those clothes!!
The shows was very slow unfortunately, but her booth was the busiest in our room! Next time I might go check out the stuff since it looks really nice on you.
Brittany Dixon says
What do you make?? I love etsy and all the homemade goods trend! Such quality and cute things. Definitely check out LulaRoe next time because it is really comfy 🙂
Jennifer Umana says
So sorry for the late reply but I wanted to get back to you! I love too love Etsy and everyone handmade/local.
I make hair bows and clips and I also make hair bows for sports – like a bow to match a soccer uniform for example – or the entire team! I can also personalize them with names or jersey numbers.
I got started making them for my own daughters team and it just went from there!
I am having another craft show tomorrow and I saw LulaRoe will be there again at this one too – I will definitely have to stop by and check them out!
I want to get some more leggings after reading your post on casual athletic wear…super cute! 🙂
Have a great day!

We had our Friendsgiving this past weekend too and I WISH we had thought of the babysitter idea…it was mass chaos with all the kiddos running around. ha! Our Friendsgivings sure are a bit different than they used to be.
LOVE that Lula Roe top! Their stuff is great. I am partnering with a friend who sells Lula Roe to co-host a party to showcase each of our products. So fun!

Your outfits look so cute on you! And I’m loving your hair, too. It looks like maybe you highlighted it a bit? So cute! (love the curls too)
That salad looks so festive & delish! I’d love to try it. I need some good salad recipes.
Have a wonderful Thxgiving!

You guys had the best weekend!! Love your Friendsgiving! I just got my first pair of Lularoe leggings on Saturday and I’m so ready to wear them. Then last night I got my competitiveness streak out and got a pair of holiday ones during a live show. OMG I love them. 🙂
Lauren @ Oh Hey! I Like That! says
Those holiday beer containers are amazing! I think we’ll be buying several of those for this holiday season!

We are having Friendsgiving tonight! We started our tradition last year- I put out all of our leftovers and everyone plates and heats their own food. I made a few new apps I wanted to test out, but other than that it’s EASY!
