I really need to slow down on my picture taking. It’s a bit out of control and ends with long update posts like this one is going to be. You’ve been warned. I posted our weekly meal plan and prep yesterday, so this is all about the weekend fun.
It started off Friday with Mexican and margaritas on a patio. Clearly it was going to be a good weekend!
Saturday morning we grabbed breakfast at Toast.
Their Cali Benny is incredible. I basically licked my plate clean before we strolled down to the Davidson Farmers Market. It was my first time there this season and enjoyed perusing the booths and getting ideas for future meals. There was so much to see, including goat cheese in the process of forming a rind.
It almost turned me off to goat cheese… almost.
Feeling in the spring spirit, we tackled yard work during nap time.
Then I changed and left to attend Susan’s Baby Sprinkle! She is having her second child, so Jenny threw her a mini-shower, or a sprinkle. It seemed like a full blown shower to me, though, since Jenny is one of the best entertainers I know.
I ate (a lot), sipped wine and really enjoyed catching up with friends and celebrating baby Lydia.

After the sprinkle David, Hailey and I enjoyed a cook out at our friends’ house.
Katie and Adam are beer people, and we enjoyed sipping on some fancy beers they had on hand. Being that I like beer but don’t actually know that much about them, all I can tell you is that they were delicious!
The weather was gorgeous and we enjoyed hanging outside and letting the kiddos run around together.
Have I mentioned how much I love watching kids play together? It melts my heart.
After dinner (well, sort of during dinner), Hailey decided she was exhausted and melted down. The great thing about having dinner with friends with kids is they get it!
Sunday we got to visit Baker’s Farm! Dr. Baker is a friend of ours that has a passion for animals and it shows.
He might be one of the nicest guys I know and we loved the full-farm tour.
Hailey got to pet all the animals, but I think her favorites were the ducks or goats. Her face lit up and she’d run towards them, squealing, with her arms out.
The goats were my favorite, too. Matilda just had two babies 6 weeks ago. I wanted to pack one up and bring it home.
Baby goats are the best. Visiting the farm always makes me long for land and animals myself. I mean, who wouldn’t want these cuties as pets?!
Before we left we tried some of Jeff’s fresh honey from his bee hives.
Incredible. It hadn’t been spun yet, so we put the full honeycomb in our mouths. We chewed it, sucked out the honey, then spit out the remaining wax.
Hailey might have liked the honey the most.
She couldn’t get enough!
We left with fresh eggs, honey and a desire to be farmers.
It was quite possibly the perfect spring weekend!

What an awesome weekend! So fun to see all of those familiar bloggers in one place. And you are so good about exposing H to all kinds of amazing adventures- she is such a lucky girl! 🙂

You should not stop taking so much photos. You need to post them here and keep recording every moment of you three’s life because you will never get it back once you haven’t captured it with the camera. Do not stop!
I love those flowers on that porch.

Pictures are what makes a blog to me! I love looking at your pics 🙂

What a lovely weekend you had! I am so envious of you being able to walk outdoors in flip-flops and a t-shirt. We still need to wear a warm coat 🙁
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
Your breakfast looks amazing!! And don’t you wish there was a polite and “acceptable” way to lick your plate clean while out in public? I have been SO tempted to do so before! 😉

It sounds and looks like such a fun weekend!
Mike @ Midwestern Bite says
The wife keeps saying we’ll get a goat now that we live “in the country”. She would probably be just as excited as your little one to do some petting.
Brittany says
You must get a goat so I can live vicariously through your experience with the cute little buggers!!
Maria says
Oh Hailey, so cute as always. And so big! Growing up, my aunt had a farm, so we would spend weekends picking veggies in her garden and getting tractor rides from my uncle. Hailey is definitely lucky to have a family friend to give her these experiences!
I want a pet llama. When we were looking house rentals last year, we saw that a house that included one and I about died. Unfortunately, it was 7k a month! I don’t want a pet llama that bad.

Love all the pictures! I’m so glad to see you give Hailey honey. I’ve really been wanting to give some to my son (almost two) but everyone says wait until after 2. However, I make a ton of stuff with honey and have been dying to just try it. I think I’ll give it a go seeing that Hailey was fine and we have no history of allergies whatsoever!
Nicole @ Fruit 'N' Fitness says
I love all your picture taking and those baby goats, I want them in my backyard! The food at the shower looks fantastic.
