Where do you draw inspiration from on the days you feel like you need a boost? Like everybody, my feeling of motivation ebbs and flows. Today it’s ebbing.
Things I’ve realized drain my energy:
Trying too hard to not disappoint people.
Attempting to accomplish too many things at once.
Striving for a purpose that isn’t my passion.
Hormones. (It’s a reality)
Though I’m most certainly an optimist and genuinely have a jovial demeanor the majority of the time, I do still get “zoned out” and complacent, sometimes for no apparent reason. I give myself some grace to chill out in those moments/days, but I won’t allow myself to stay there long since I believe we are each empowered to choose our attitude towards the situation we are in.
I believe focusing on the good brings more good and that the inverse is true too. Sometimes I can be my own cheerleader, but often it’s nice to have sources of inspiration to look to when I need a good pick me up/kick in the pants too. Of course my family inspires me to do and be better everyday. I have friends that are doing incredible things that also motivate me. I’m also a quote junkie.
Here are a few great nuggets of wisdom that have spoken to me lately in different areas of my life:
On mistakes: own it, fix it, learn from it, and move on. -Barbara Coloroso
Health is not just about what you are eating, but what you are thinking and saying.
The opportunity of a lifetime must be taken within the lifetime of the opportunity. -Leonard Ravenhill
A river cuts through rock not because of its power, but because of its persistence.
The pain of falling short is nothing compared to the shame of stopping short. –Pastor Steven Furtick
But of course, not all motivation has to be so serious.
If you don’t like where you are, move. You are not a tree.
I really like that one! And then there is this.
Profound?
Ehhh….no. But applicable some days? Absolutely!
I also find a lot of inspiration on Instagram. Though it’s right up there with snapchat, it probably remains my favorite social media outlet. I’ve been wondering what to do with my Instagram feed lately though, as it is heavily food focused. While I do love meal planning and sharing healthy food for my family, I feel this space is starting to encompass motherhood as well and a more general lifestyle vibe. I’d love for my Instagram feed to better reflect that. As with everything, I am a work in progress.
Speaking of Instagram, here are a few accounts that I draw inspiration from when they pop up on my feed:
Joy in the Day to Day: Jasmine
Fashion: Molly
Family Adventure: Brittany
Motherhood/Homeschool: Katie
Introspection: Jen
Home Decor: Brittney
(who is actually helping me re-do my living room right now!)
Real Food Meals: Regina
Simplicity: Jessica
Humor: Bev
Just Beautiful Pictures from Her Life that Make Me Swoon: Esther
Kind of a random post, I know. My mind is scattered all over today so it’s one of those days I’m going to chill out and go with the flow. #butfirsttea
I’d love to hear what or who inspires you.
Links to instagram feeds and blogs are highly encouraged.
Thanks for sharing the inspiration and love!

Oh I needed this today! I love the “gangsta rap” idea. After a sick baby this weekend, in laws moving MUCH closer to us, same baby going in for surgery this coming weekend oh and that little thing called a full time job! I am spend. I look like a hot mess today, but whatever I am being boss lady and getting things DONE. Thanks for these awesome ideas!

Despite January being such a great month for setting goals and doing all of the things, it’s often a month where I find my motivation lacking and typically just go with it. Since the month is ending, though, I’m trying to find some inspiration to get up and finally start doing a few things. Music is a big one for me, so I try to find music that gets me energized, but I agree, sometimes going through Instagram and reading blogs can be really inspiring and motivational as well.
One blog I love for inspiration: http://www.shutterbean.com/

I am absolutely loving seeing your motherhood posts on Instagram! It’s so nice to follow “real” Moms out there. I try to do the same on my blog and Instagram.
