Deep thoughts? Ha. No deep thoughts being generated over here today. As soon as I brag about H’s sleep, it comes back to bite me. Munchkin was up at 12, 4 and 6 last night. I can’t remember the last time this has happened (so I know I’m not allowed to complain). Teething? Extra hungry? Who knows. I’m not giving it too much thought unless it becomes a pattern.
So what do I think about while I’m nursing at midnight? Why, food of course! I was thinking about what I’d eat if I had to choose a last meal. That got me thinking as to how many courses would be allowed in said meal. Could I also choose unlimited beverages? Could I choose my location as to where to eat or who with? Who even makes up these “rules”? See, deep thoughts.
If I had to stick with just the food, I’m thinking my last meal would consist of the following:
An appetizer of chips, salsa, guacamole and bean & cheese dip with a side salad of arugula and a fried goat cheese nugget.
The main course would consist of linguine in a spicy marinara sauce with shrimp, mussels, clams and scallops with a petite filet mignon on the side, medium rare. I’d add a couple onion rings, along with a creamy wild mushroom risotto. Maybe a blackened fish taco, but let’s not get greedy.
Dessert wouldn’t be nearly as well thought out, thanks to a lack in sweet tooth. I’d ask for crème brulee or key lime pie, but would be willing to forego dessert in favor of hot wings with bleu cheese.
Clearly my last meal couldn’t be during Lent because it certainly doesn’t adhere to my current pescatarian ways.
What would be a part of your last meal?
Have a great weekend! I’m off to fit in some hot yoga then review all your running advice- y’all are awesome!

I’m the opposite…while I could definitely come up with an appetizer and entree, my main focus would be on the sweet stuff- dessert! Maybe breakfast for dinner (chocolate chip banana pancakes?) that way the meal itself is just as sweet 🙂
Parita @ myinnershakti says
Not sure exactly what my last meal would look like, but I do know that chocolate and cheese would be the main players!

I’ve actually thought about this before, and my entree would be the Macho Salad from my favorite restaurant, Bandera. It’s not just any salad; definitely worthy of “last meal” desiring! But, since it’s my last meal and all, I’d tell them to forget my usual dressing on the side and just smother the thing in it! To finish off, probably one of those skillet-baked chocolate chip cookies with Haagen Daas vanilla ice cream on top. and I’m not sharing!
Lindsay@Fuel My Family says
Ooh I am all about the dessert so I may skip real food all together and get myself into a sugar coma!
Kayla @ The Best Things says
Ha this cracks me up! Mine would involve Chip Salad.. a big bowl full of tons of different types of chips!

I have thought long and hard about my last meal, and I know exactly what it would be.
We had this amazing restaurant in RI that closed when I was 18. The food was incredible and the memories too. I would LOVE to have a meal from there!
I would start with the Blaise Salad which had endive, radicchio, tomatoes, lettuce and a tangy balsamic dressing. I would have a piece of their bread and butter on the side. Then I’d share a 4 cheese pizza with my dining partners. I’d follow it up with their homemade gnocchi in a pink tomato sauce and a blackberry Clearly Canadian to drink. Next I’d have the horseradish encrusted salmon over the asparagus cream pesto. Finally, for dessert I would have their delicious mascarpone dessert. It was whipped mascarpone with chocolate chunks and topped with an amaretto cookie.
Divine.
Clearly, I am a carb lover.

I hear you on the lack of sleep…we just got back from Florida on Monday and ever since K has been waking up especially early. She typically was still waking once in the night to eat, but now will cry out for her paci at least 1-2 times a night and then will wake to eat about 4, and then up everyday this week at 6:30. Needless to say momma is tired, I don’t want to complain since she is still getting a fair amount of sleep, however something seems off.
But onto what you really care about 🙂
My last meal would be a huge pizza all to myself, followed by a gigantic ice cream sundae!
Tina @ Best Body Fitness says
Is it sad that I would probably want pizza and a honkin slice of Cheesecake Factory cheesecake for my last meal? Nothing fancy, but pure delicious.
Amanda Perry @ Sistas of Strength says
Pizza…definitely pizza. With tons of roasted veggie toppings.
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
Oh goodness, I don’t even know where to start. Probably some buffalo chicken dip and chips, followed by either pizza or chicken fingers and french fries haha. Dessert would probably be a HUGE warm chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream, caramel, and whipped cream. Yum! 😉
Liz @ IHeartVegetables says
Can I have this meal with you?! You can have the meat… but I’ll definitely dig into the rest 😉 Ohhh man even the appetizer is making my mouth water!
MigraineMe says
I’m a midwestern girl. It would have to include meat and potatoes (preferably red meat, like steak)! 🙂
Sarah says
Fake nacho cheese and too-salty chips, hot garlic french bread and a pan of warm fudgy, chunky brownies with vanilla bean ice cream and hot fudge.
This would definitely be my last meal because the heartburn alone would kill me.
Katie says
This cracks me up. I like the way you think cramming all that yummy food into one meal. 😉
My last meal would consist of chips and guac as well, followed by some french fries and a very large ice cream sundae complete with REAL hot fudge. Oh baby.

Since it would be my last supper and I don’t have to worry about being healthy, I’m with Lindsey@Fuelmyfamily….desserts and a sugar coma. Chocolate Coconut Creme Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory and then every dessert they have at Gabriel’s Desserts in Marrietta.
Jane Preston says
Sorry you didn’t get to sleep.
Well, since it’s my last supper, I wouldn’t have to worry about my health, so…I’m with Lindsay…desserts and sugar coma. I’d start out at the Cheesecake Factory and eat two pieces…Chocolate Coconut Creme Cheesecake and the White Chocolate Macadamia Cheesecake, then I’d go to Gabriel’s Desserts in Marietta and have Mississippi Mud Cake, Coconut Pound Cake, Rum Pound Cake, Strawberry Cake and who knows what else. ha!ha!
Victoria says
Mmm… this is making me hungry!
For an appetizer, I would have creamy, pre-melted peanut butter and butternut squash soup that I could dip in warmed, chewy baguette (but not together!)
For the main course, I really love Panago’s pizza, though I think it’s only here in Canada. I think I would get the multigrain (I genuinely prefer it to white flour!) quattro formaggio pizza with the creamy garlic dip. I’d have a huge tropical tornado Booster Juice or Shirley Temple with that. I’d also have some grilled chicken on the side to round out the meal.
For dessert, I’d have rich chocolate cake – dense and brownie-like with lots of icing. I’d also have an Edible Arangement with chocolate covered strawberries and plain fruit.
Roz@weightingfor50 says
Tough question Brittany. Hmm…if I HAD to choose, I’d have a big honkin’ antipasto plate as my last meal. Good cheese, meats, olives, artichokes, etc, etc…all with good bread. Damn…I’m hungry now. Have a great weekend.
Keri says
Did you ever eat at the Last Resort in Athens? I would have their Praline Chicken with creamy grits!
Brittany says
oh my gosh, I LOVE last resort! Add anything from there to my last meal list 🙂
