It’s only 7am and I have tears running down my face. Not the most normal way to start a post, but I just read Emily’s birth story of her new son, Graham (congrats!!) and geesh, that girl can write!
So, as I pull myself together, let me say how much I’ve enjoyed reading and responding to your comments from the last two days’ SAHM posts. Thank you Jayme for asking the question that inspired them! I still want to post a third part dedicated to the division of roles in the household. That can be tricky.
If you can’t tell, there is no cohesiveness to today’s post. I’m just going to go with it…
I’m making an effort to regularly (2-3x/week) get out an run with Koda. Being that you can see my speed of these “runs” above, you know it’s more like a speed walk, but I’m out there and it feels good… when it’s over.
In other news. It must look like I have things together a lot of the time. Let me go ahead and burst that little bubble for you.
This is how Hailey looked when we left the house yesterday afternoon. T-shirt, jammie shorts and shoeless. In order to make it to the mall after nap, I had to put her in the car directly from the crib. Being that she needed new shoes, I didn’t see much point in strapping the ones currently giving her blisters on her feet. This, is us in real life.
However, I usually prefer to share more pictures like this one,
so that you know I made homemade pizza dough yesterday and think of me as June Cleaver. Alas, I am not. And homemade pizza dough only takes all of 7 minutes to make.
I haven’t shared much from Crawlspace Breweries lately, have I?
David just finished bottling wine! He took a breather from beer to make some vino that is supposed to be really good. Fingers crossed that it is, or we are going to have 30 bottles of bad wine to drink.(Is there really such thing as bad wine?)
To wrap up the randomness, I must share that I got a few pieces I really like in my latest Stitch Fix (<—affiliate link- thank you for clothing me!). Yes, it’s terrible lighting and I’m make-up-less. Let’s not pretend I think I’m a fashion model…
MALCOLM DOLMAN SLEEVE SLUB KNIT SHIRT $48.00
KAHLO EMBROIDERED RACERBACK TANK $48.00
And this last maxi skirt I couldn’t decide on. It is incredibly comfortable and looked like sometime I would wear, but I wasn’t sure how being that I’m only 5’1”. Luckily all you awesome peeps on instagram helped me with how I should wear it, so I’m keeping it. I’m very excited!
(Note: this was the ‘before/don’t know how to wear it’ shot. I would never wear something with my belly showing. At least now that I’m not 16 anymore.)
JOSSE FOLDOVER WAIST MAXI SKIRT $48.00
So there is an entire post of randomness. Looking forward to mentioning food again next week. You know, since that’s what I claim to write about and all
Have a great weekend!

I totally thought homemade pizza dough would be way more intensive but 7 minutes?! Sounds like a winner in my books!
Haha, I love that Hailey left the house like that:) It’s just what happens sometimes in the real world.
I think it’s awesome you’ve been trying to get out there and run with Koda. It totally doesn’t matter on your speed, just getting out there is the best thing.
Have a nice weekend!
Brittany Dixon says
Yeah guuuurl, 7 minutes!! Of course, it then rises for 1.5 hours, but active time is nothing 🙂 Thanks for the run love. That’s what I keep trying to tell myself- just get out there! Have a great weekend!
Parita @ myinnershakti says
I love your logic for Hailey’s shoe shopping trip. Makes complete sense to me! Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!
And I have the same problem with maxi skirts. I saw a cute one at H&M but it was way too long, so I asked one of the associates if they have them in different lengths. He told me to roll it up. Umm…no thanks!
Erin @ Sugar Magnolia says
I just hysterically cried reading her birth story this morning!
I’m 5’0 and have been wanting a long skirt but can never find any that look right! Yours looks great!
christina says
I think Hailey looks adorable in her random outfit. David bottles wine? WTC, please hire me as your live in nanny. And let me drink on the job. hahahah. Love the racerback tank!
Brittany Dixon says
If I drink on that job, it would only be fair to let you do the same, right?! 😉 When can you start?
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
I’ve never read Emily’s blog before, but man, now I’m in tears, too! Thank you for sharing!!
Katie says
Love the first two shirts- particularly the tank!
Is it weird that since you made the comment about your hubs usually being shirtless that now I notice if he’s wearing one? 😉
Brittany Dixon says
Haha, NO, that’s hilarious! I thought about making a comment about him wearing a shirt, but wasn’t sure it would translate.
Ali says
I also have tears running down my face from that birth story! I remember reading Cullen’s and having the same thing happen!
Katiemac says
I got that sweater in my stitch fix box this week too! I all ready wore it and really enjoyed it. Love the tank!
I personally have a maxi skirt that I never wear. It’s cute and comfy and I am 5’5 but I still feel like it looks weird on me.
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
I read Emily’s birth story last night in bed and totally cried. Usually I don’t cry over birth stories, but omg, it was so touching with Cullen and her husband. gah! She really sold having a 2nd baby. 🙂
Jen says
Emily’s birth story left me in tears this morning too!
Meredith says
You are so inspirational and your blog is awesome. It puts a smile on my face every morning! My parents live in Mooresville and seeing some of your pictures makes me homesick!
Tina @ Best Body Fitness says
I still think of you as June cleaver. Except a hot one in that racerback tank. Looks so good on you!
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
LOVE the knit shirt and the skirt!! It is awesome to find a skirt that you can wear when you are short. I am 5’3″ and can never find long skirts that fit! 🙁
John J. says
Clothes look good on you! The wine sounds good also!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
I really loved your SAHM posts – thanks for sharing that with us! Cute StitchFix attire! I’ve been wanting to sign up with them, but not sure I can get myself to fork out the $$ for it.
Dominique @ That's What Domi Said says
Homemade pizza dough and home-brewed wine? Mmmhhmm, sounds like my kind of dinner!
Maria says
I love the maxi skirt and I avoided them for so long as a fellow short girl! I wear mine with a fitted tank/tee + a scarf + sandals. I haven’t quite mastered how to transition them to fall/winter, but Pinterest is a bit helpful.
Hailey’s outfit is more of my style though. She looks adorable.
Amanda says
I got the same tank in my last Stitchfix and I loved it! I didn’t keep it, because that hi/low hem is a trend I’m not really a fan of, but I loved the print and embroidery.
Jennifer says
I have the striped tank in two colors that I bought at the SOWA market, so I obvi approve! 😉
Amanda says
I can’t seem to read any offer Emily’s post lately without crying (and smiling too)!
Lindsay says
Love how REAL you are in posting!
Curious if that is an app you are using for your runs? I think the one I’m using is actually one you had mentioned a while back, Walkameter, (maybe?), but it doesn’t show the average pace. I can’t pull the plug and buy a garmin yet, although I would love one! I am trying to be content with my iphone apps.
Brittany Dixon says
Thanks Lindsay! You’re right, I still use walkameter. When I upgraded to a new phone I ended up buying the app (it cost a few bucks I think?). I really love it! I know there are several out there, but I can’t quite rationalize buying a Garmin yet either, so it works for me for now! 🙂
