It’s official. I have a summer cold. Talk about an oxymoron. How does one even get sick in the summertime?! I guess I haven’t had as many vegetables lately, and perhaps a few more beers than normal, but c’mon…. sick in the summer?! Booooo
I was planning on getting some extra sleep, but woke up at 6:45am to my sweet puppy dog making some not so sweet noises… gagging up yellow stuff to be more precise. Oops, guess I should have warned you… hope you already ate breakfast 😉
Anyways, maternal instinct kicked in and I hopped out of bed to get her some food, water and let her outside (dog owners… did you know that coughing up “yellow stuff” *bile* is usually a sign of an empty stomach?) Anyways, after curing K-dawg, I realized I wasn’t feeling so hot myself… again… boooo
I couldn’t go back to sleep, so I ate an easy-fix breakfast with a side of tissues…
To help heal the throat (and at the insistence of Hubbs), I gargled salt water… EW.
Now I’ll be turning on the TODAY Show to watch and cheer on Caitlin as she discusses Operation Beautiful. I’d wish her luck, but she doesn’t need it; I know she’ll kick butt!
Now… some things I may try today to kick this summer cold:
- Gargling Salt Water (CHECK!!)
- Chicken Noodle Soup (but I don’t have any on hand… hmm…)
- Sticking my face over boiling water
- Drink a lot of Throat Coat
- Eat Garlic like the Fitnessista
- Whine, cry & pout? 😉
Any suggestions for the sickly?
Also, my frustration from yesterday has been transformed with feeling more motivated (YAY- love it when that happens!)… and revving up my blog-energy begins with revamping the Blog Roll.

I’m totally determined to kick this cold …. and fast. I pushed aside my original plan of whining and pouting, and instead decided to sweat it out. Totally unlike me, but given that I was a day behind on my Couch to 5K training schedule and Hubbs assured me that sweating it out works, I decided to give it a try.
Have you ever seen a more forced smile? HAHA.
Well, I was happy to get some exercise, but I’m not sure it was the cure-all. The good news is, I don’t feel worse 🙂
Then there was some lunch action…
(leftover lite caesar dressing completely made this salad)
While I’ve been on sitting on my butt willing my throat to heal quickly, I’ve been bubbling with new blog ideas inside… I’m thinking of changing the way I blog a bit… not sure exactly how to do that yet, but I’m excited about it.
My main focus is to go back to providing some information, rather than just my food pics. I also need to streamline my blogging process so I can be an active member of the blogging community, while also having time to work on my company’s latest project.
Ah… trying to find the right balance is half the fun, right? 😛 The one thing I know for sure is that I love blogging and love all of YOU. I want to become more involved in the blogging community (because I love reading all your blogs, you clever, entertaining writers, you!) and achieve success in my personal company… and when I see something I want, I go for it! Like Koda….
…right before she dove head first into the glass in attempts to get that pesky bird.

Sorry you’re not feeling well! What always helps me is a lot of food and sleep. I also have to have it cold or have a fan on me while I’m wrapped up in a blanket. Yeah, kind of strange but it works 🙂 And soup of course like you mentioned! But it may be too hot for that. 😛

OK – summer colds are 100x worse than winter ones, they last forever. You get your sleep, I mean it!! Curl up with the pup. Feel better.

i’d love to be on the list 🙂 summer colds are really the worst because there’s so much you could DO if only you weren’t sick! i always take a TON of rest when i’m sick and try to sleep as much as possible. that usually helps me the most!

Hope you feel better! I know all too well about colds since I work with children. I just try to wash my hands a bunch and let my body take its course. And my husband’s homemade chicken noodle soup seems to help me out as well. As for the blogroll, I’d love to be included since I am fairly new to the world of blogging. 🙂
