growing little baby! OK, that was mean. I should explain. I’ve gotten a lot of messages from people who saw me post on twitter (@AHealthySlice) last Friday about finding out the sex of Baby D.
It’s true- we know! We had the ultrasound tech write it in an envelope with a picture of the “money shot” and opened it together at a nice dinner. It will be a moment I will remember forever.
Please check out my massive soda and cranberry- the bartender wanted me to feel special 🙂
And as much as I want to change my blog color scheme to all blue or all purple (I’m not much of a pink person) and shout it from the roof tops, Hubbs and I are enjoying it being our little secret. If we decide to spill the beans, I promise to share the news with my best blends!
But let me fill you in on what has been going on. The nursery is completely painted (please disregard the blue, stained carpet- we’ll be replacing it before Baby D arrives).
I’m also officially in maternity pants 99% of the time (except for a pair of black work pants I struggle more and more to button daily).
Weight
I’ve gained 10 pounds so far, which I feel OK about. This puts me on track to gain about 30 total, which is my recommended target (25-35 pounds), but it just sounds like SO much to short little me. The good news is, I think it’s all in my belly and bra (I have to wear 2 sports bras now when I exercise- the girls have grown!).
Baby D
The best part of the appointment was getting to see Baby D! Baby D’s heartbeat was thumping away at 157 bpm and he/she weighed 9 ounces. From what we could tell, everything looked pretty good- we saw the pumping heart, the spine, 2 arms and 2 legs! The doctor will look everything over and give us the official results at our next appointment.
Look who enjoys sucking on their fingers??
Exercise
Be proud of me! (Really, please be proud because I need an extra kick to get going some days) I’m keeping up with my schedule and wogging 3-4 days a week for 3-4 miles each time. I’ve put Couch to 5k aside and wog on my own. I also am sticking to prenatal yoga 1x/week and adding in some arm weights at home. I also cut the grass again this weekend. I’m a warrior 😉
Food
I’m still hungry. Constantly. But I feel good that 99% of what I’m throwing down the hatch is wholesome and nutritious- DHA eggs, veggies (LOTS of veggies), hummus, Greek yogurt, fruit, popcorn and the occasional treat. Last night I had mixed berries topped with some vanilla ice cream. MMMMMM!!!
And I’m still very much into cooking/making dinner. Like these yummy burrito bowls from Sunday night.
Overall
Feeling good! At 19 weeks, my energy is high, my sleep is pretty good, my appetite is raging normal and I love feeling Baby D’s movements. I’m feeling them everyday now and it never fails to make me giggle.
Now… the BUMP! I think it looks huge in this pic, but I’m doing my best to get comfortable with my new physique!
Brooke @ Veggie Table says
CONGRATS! What a fun / memorable way to find out if Baby D is a he/she! Burrito bowls look amazing – obviously, we both love food with a Mexi-flare! Love the bump updates!!!! 🙂

Awww Brit!! You look adorable 🙂 Such an exciting time for you guys. Sounds/looks like you are doing soo well with the eating and exercising. Wish I could say the same about moving! But we’re getting back on track and in gear now that we’re somewhat settled. Looks like business is going well – i hope it continues!! 🙂
Melissa @ Be Not Simply Good says
I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want health advice from someone who is keeping up on exercise and healthful eating throughout pregnancy – you obviously practice what you preach! And you look great!
Jess @atasteofconfidence says
I am proud- great job exercising!! You look great:)
Corey @ the runner's cookie says
Aww you look adorable!! So glad you’re feeling good, able to keep up with exercise and have the healthy appetite going on! I think it’s really sweet that you and your husband want to keep the sex a secret 🙂

You look great!!!!
I’m 2 weeks behind you and I’ve put on 7 lbs, 5 in the last month. That happened fast!
Graze With Me says
Based on the over 140 bpm heartrate I’m going with GIRL. I know that’s an old wives tale but it’s fun if it’s true! No pressure to reveal anything though, secrets are fun.
You look fantastic! I think you totally look pregnant instead of that weird “beer belly” look I’ve got going on right now. We find out the sex at 21 weeks on May 4th…hopefully little one shows us the “money shot” too!
I’m SO proud of the amount of exercise you’ve been doing. I haven’t been doing ANYTHING at all so I’m a little jealous. I’m looking into prenatal yoga soon, I actually won a yoga mat on a giveaway so I think that’s a sign.
Love the maternity pants!
Suzanne says
YAY FOR BABIES!!! I can’t wait to find out tomorrow! I love love love it! I am so jealous of you for knowing already AND for having the willpower to keep it a secret. Maternity pants are like the greatest things ever. I don’t really want to switch back (although I’m sure I’ll be singing a different tune come August).
I am also jealous of all of your exercise. I have been so busy lately that when I finally get home around 8, there is no way I’m exercising (minus my once a week prenatal yoga which is so wonderful).
If you haven’t already, check out Gap Maternity. I’m a big fan of their demi panel right now. I feel like I don’t quite fill out a full panel yet and it feels like they are falling down.
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says
Awwww! Hooray for Baby D! So cute. 🙂
As you aren’t into pink, I’m still convinced it’s a boy. But, obviously, it will be an adorably healthy slice of BABY when it arrives….
Rachel @ Rachel's Recipe Reviews says
How exciting. You look great! When my husband and I found out we were having a girl, we decided to keep it to ourselves for a few weeks too. We wanted it to be ours for a little while before everyone else got the info. People were SO mad at us. I mean really, really mad. My sister’s friends had me in tears because I wouldn’t tell my sister right away (she was also preggers). Long story short–keep that info to yourselves as long as you want! This is your baby and your pregnancy! Okay, off of my soapbox! Food looks great 🙂
Lisa @ I'm an Okie says
Congrats! you look fantastic and seem to be very healthy and treating your baby with lots of TLC! 🙂

Caree @ Fit-Mama says

I am so happy for you!
Sarah for Real says
What a wonderful idea on how to experience that surprise moment together! I’m going to remember that for when we start a family.
You ARE doing so well with your exercise! Very inspiring! Just remember, every step/wog you take now will only make things easier come delivery time. (At least that’s what the experts say about exercise, I don’t know nuthin ’bout birthin’ no babies.) If THAT isn’t motivation for ya, I don’t know what is.
Maria @ Oh Healthy Day says
Such a great idea using the envelope! I cannot wait to hear the news, but my guess is that it’s a girl!
Tomorrow when I wake up at the crack of dawn to exercise, I’m going to think, “Brittany is pregnant and she’s still running, so I can too!” 🙂
Melissa says
The bump is cute! Don’t be self-conscious about it. The suspense is killing me! But enjoy all the planning now that you know.
Tina says
You’re lucky I love you because that was just mean! LOL

You look beautiful! And don’t feel like you have to tell anyone the sex of Baby D if you don’t want to. It’s fun to have a little secret sometimes. 🙂

Congrats! I’m so excited to have found your blog. You look awesome and your bump is adorable!! I think it’s great that you are keeping the sex a secret. I think my husband and I are going to keep the name we choose to ourselves- everyone seems to have a negative opinion with everything I suggest so they’ll just have to wait 😉
Great job with the exercising- I’m hoping to get back on that boat real soon! 🙂
