1. Until a couple weeks ago, it had been a couple YEARS since I’d been to the dentist. Did you just unfriend me? No worries, I’m full of excuses (pregnancy, babies, forgetfulness) but that’s the fact. Lucky for me, my diligent brushing and attempts at being diligent with flossing have paid off and my teeth are doing alright, minus the fact that I’m evidently a teeth grinder and a filling I had from a while back was coming loose. Yesterday I spent a glorious kid-free hour getting numbed up at the dentist to fix that up.
2. When half your mouth is numb, you don’t know whether you are chewing up your omelet or your cheek and it’s rather unappetizing.
I boxed it all up to bring home, disregarding the strange looks from my server. I couldn’t explain the situation for fear of drooling on the table as I spoke.
3. When undergoing a renovation, always add on another week and some extra $$$ to the estimate.
4. I always forget about sandwiches. I’m not sure why because not-so-news-flash, they are fantastic!
5. I have a birthmark smack-dab on the middle of my forehead. I guess it’s not super noticeable to the average bear, but it’s there and acts as a gauge to my body temperature and/or my current emotional state. When I sweat or cry, it turns bright red. Exhibit one:
Luckily yesterday was the former. Daniel, our regular bootcamp fearless leader, had been gone and returned yesterday with a vengeance and a killer metabolic conditioning workout that included sprints, burpees, box jumps and more.
Birth mark says…. GREAT WORKOUT!
6. I originally had salmon planned for last night’s dinner, but had to make a grocery time decision switch because, Cinco de Mayo. Obvi.
7. I’m invited to a Mother’s Day Tea with Hailey today and I’m ridiculously excited. Like, cutting this post short so I can pick out what to wear excited. At what age do kids start making little gifts with sloppily painted hand prints on them? Soon? I hope so because I wouldn’t treasure anything more! …ok, ok so a massage would give that a good run for its money but… just kidding, kids.
Happy Wednesday!

I must be honest…I havent seen a dentist since I took my wisdoms out a couple of years ago..me I just dont like creepy dentists…

Ahhhh, I remember Mother’s Day Tea at school with my son. (HINT: You should receive something made with love today)
It’s funny as they grow up how things change when it comes to events like this. Now, as my son has grown to an adult, it’s nice when I get taken out for lunch and he pays the bill.
Either way, it’s just special when they still WANT to spend time with you.
Have fun!

How sweet that your son takes you out! Must have raised a good one 😉
And I definitely got some heartfelt goodies- love when they have the kids answer questions about ‘mom’ – so funny!

Honestly I’m so shocked about the dentist. I love going, it’s like having your hair done – it feels good and they always do a better job than I can at home. Hahaha!
Brittany Dixon says
I only do my hair about twice a year too- yikes! I’m working on reorganizing some self-care/hygiene priorities 😉

Have fun at the tea party! That’s one of the great things about daycare and preschool, my kids bring home artwork almost daily. Last year, from my infant (lol) we got a hand soap dispenser with a picture of her floating in it! It sounds weird but it’s really cute and cracks me up every time I use it.
Brittany Dixon says
That gift sounds adorably unique!! I’d giggle too- how sweet 🙂
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul says
When I had a cavity filled I went out to eat right afterwards. It was the biggest mistake! I couldn’t taste anything and chewing felt so weird!
Parita @ myinnershakti says
I despise going to the dentist…more than anything! It’s the most uncomfortable experience. And my teeth aren’t all that bad! Basically, I get what you’re saying!
And have fun at the tea event! Sounds like fun!
Jessica @Myhealthypassion.com says
There is nothing like a goooooood sandwich…and is it just me, but they always taste better when someone else makes them lol! Happy Wednesday!
Marnie @ SuperSmartMama says
I am going to a Mother’s Day Breakfast on Friday at my son’s Montessori school. It won’t be anything fancy but it’s fun to spend some time with our kids at “their” place (school!) There will be food and music. I can’t wait!
Laura @FItMamaLove says
That dinner looks delish! I skipped about 2 years at the dentist after having my first kid. Didn’t seem to do any harm, but now I’m back to going regularly again.
Amy @ Elephant Eats says
Glad your reno is coming along…it’s looking good! I know all too well about delays- We bought a house and gutted it and it was done two months later than the contractor told us. And it would have been longer but I booked our move and told him the date, to hussle his little butt along. Have fun at your tea party 🙂
Brittany says
I’m a teeth grinder too–I can’t seem to break the habit even when I sleep in the mouth guards
Brittany Dixon says
I need to get a mouth guard, but having difficulty swallowing the cost. Just need to do it, I know!
Sam @ Pursuit of Healthy Happiness says
Oh my goodness! I have the same exact birthmark!! In the same exact place! I am for some reason super excited to find someone who has the same one, lol. Mine, too, is barely visible for the most part. It show’s up when I get a good sweat on, or if I’m SUPER hungry, or when I’m sick. Do you every use anything to cover it up when it shows? Or do you just rock it?
Brittany Dixon says
Birthmark buddy!!! Haha, so funny! Since it mostly pops up when I’m hot or upset, I basically just rock it. I use basic foundation if I really want to try to cover it up, but for the most part, it’s not too bad.
alex says
your birthmark looks like a heart, pretty awesome!
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
I am a teeth grinder too 🙁 My dentist told me I could get a mouth guard to sleep in at night… but of course my insurance doesn’t cover it and it costs $500!
Heather@hungryforbalance says
Umm, yes to the home renovation costing more $$/time. ALWAYS! Whenever my husband tells me a time frame, I always add at least a week to it 😉
Jenni says
Both of my daughters have birthmarks in the same spots. They were really dark when they were born and have faded as they’ve gotten older. But when either of them is hot or upset, they get really red again.
Hope you enjoyed your Mother’s Day Tea!!!
Emily says
I also had about a two year hiatus from the dentist and blame pregnancy and new motherhood 😉 Thankfully I am back in the groove now and have been twice in the last year as is recommended, haha!
Laura @ Vegetarianesque.com says
I love going to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned! It feels so good. If I had money to blow I’d probably go, like, four or five times a year. haha
