Hey hey Friday fans! Lame intro? You betcha! But I’m OK with it because it is most certainly FRIDAY and an exciting one at that because David and I are headed out of town… just the two of us. Whaaaa?! Oh yes, I’m pumped and overly grateful for reinforcements that came our way to watch their girls on their home turf.
Ok, let me take it down a notch.
And breathe….
And let me fill you in on a few of the things I’m loving this week!
(I’ll try to keep the exclamation points to a minimum, but no promises…)
Fresh juice. Gah, I’m so teetering on the edge of buying a juicer, but until then I fuel my latest habit with Clean Juice in Birkdale. The “Immunity One” has orange, carrot, pineapple turmeric and lemon and the girls love it. Since we are getting into the season of constant runny noses, a little immunity boost certainly can’t hurt!
This mascara. I know everyone has a mascara they swear by and, well, I’m no different. I’m constantly on a hunt to find the right one to lengthen my eyelashes and this one has been doing the trick. The best part? It’s SO reasonably prices and can be found at Target.
To show you what is can do to my lashes, let me share this picture:
Ok, not the best picture, but you can see the lashes right??
I also wanted to share this picture because see that smiling girl? She’s been a dream this week, which leads me to the next thing I’m loving.
NO TV.
A bold statement, I know. Hailey doesn’t usually watch much TV, 1 show usually (two max) a day. However, I noticed she’d be crankier after watching them, so I did a little self-experimentation this week and she hasn’t watched any since Sunday. And you know what? SO MUCH BETTER BEHAVED. I know, slow my roll on the all caps business, but you guys, really, it’s been a noticeable difference. The funny part is too that she hasn’t even asked for it. Let the experiment continue…
Enchiladas! I hadn’t made my enchilada recipe in a while, but I brought Molly some dinner this week (a late celebration of sweet baby Lincoln!) and got giddy when I remembered it made two large pans of enchiladas. David and the girls devoured them and I promised not to forget about them again anytime soon!
I prefer celebrating the odd milestones of the girls growing up and this week was a doozy- first pigtails for Kaitlyn.
I can’t even handle the cuteness.
This week has been a little nuts schedule-wise, and I’ve taken a few meal shortcuts here and there. These frozen Amy’s Indian meals are pretty delicious!
They sure aren’t the prettiest to look at, but they are bursting with Indian flavor and the girls ended up eating a lot of it. Next time I will buy two!
And while we are talking meal shortcuts, I finally tried the much admired fall squash soup from Panera and can confirm that it’s pretty darn delicious. I looked up the ingredients out of curiosity and now and itching to recreate it at home!
To wrap it up, one last thing I’m really loving.
Celebrating Koda’s 8th birthday! She has had a year of being spoiled rotten and I’m just grateful she is here to celebrate it. I whipped her up a 5 layer cake (haha) and she had a that and a chicken tender to celebrate.
We love you, sweet crazy pup!
Don’t forget to follow me on instagram and twitter, where I’ll be showing shots from mine and David’s adventure weekend! And with that, I’m off!
What is one thing you are loving lately?
A favorite recipe or beauty product perhaps?

I became obsessed with that Panera soup 2 seasons ago and went on a mission to recreate it! I’ve already made it twice this year..so good! Have a fun weekend!!

Yes! About no tv! It really improves behavior and they don’t think about it if they don’t have it regularly. We gave loved this for 2 years.

Love those pigtails! What a doll. My daughter didn’t have enough hair for pigtails until she was five. I celebrated them too.
Jessica @MyHealthyPassion says
I LOOOOOOOVE that mascara! I agree with you, awesome! Have a fun adventure, can’t wait to see where ya go!

We’re called “reinforcements”?!

I’m thinking about buying a juicer as well. But since we try to limit the number of kitchen gadgets it’s either a juicer or the Vitamix. Ahh, decisions…
Beautywise, I’ve been really enjoying my Lily Lolo BB cream.
Have a great weekend!
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
I’m excited to hear more about your weekend alone! Happy Birthday, Koda!!
Heather says
Aww, Happy Birthday, Koda! Also, love those pigtails! My daughter is finally at the point where she’ll actually ask for them. I’m also thinking of trying out a week of no TV at our house. I really think it would make a difference even if the first day would probably be awful. :p I’m loving Halloween decorations lately! I pulled all of ours out and we are getting into the season right now. 😉
Lauren @ Oh Hey, I Like That! says
Your lashes look AMAZING with that mascara! Omg and those pigtails on Kaitlyn almost got me teary-eyed–she’s growing up so fast!
Have an amazing weekend!!!
Emma @ BeMom strong says
Have an awesome weekend! I’m loving cooler temps, but not the rain!
Hilary says
I have been looking for a new mascara, can’t wait to try it out! I have been loving tuna melts for quick and easy meals lately, I know what you mean about crazy busy days!
Edye says
Hey Brittany, I was wondering if you could do a blog post in the future about how you cut TV out? What activities you and your family do instead? Thanks so much!!!
Brittany Dixon says
Hi Edye! I’ll try and see if I can gather enough content to make a post out of it, but basically we just went cold turkey. If H asks to watch something I nonchalantly say that we aren’t watching TV today and quickly direct her to another activity/distraction. Instead of V she does a lot of arts and crafts, makes big messes (ha) and helps me out in the kitchen. We play outside or build forts. It does take a little more effort on my part, but I’m finding it to be well worth it!
