Today is Hailey’s birthday! It kicks off several days of celebration that will culminate in a small gathering of a few of her best buds this coming weekend. As I read her stories last night and told her about the day she was born, I was all too aware that she’d be waking up a 3 year old (well, at 8:49 tonight) and I couldn’t help but have cliché run through my mind. The days are long and years are short indeed.
More on Hailey later, because it’s a busy day and I must maintain my composure. So let’s talk beer instead!
Friday night David and I put the girls down then headed out on the town (with a sitter at home of course). I’ve really been pushing to make date nights a thing. It’s important for us to be out as just Brittany and David every once in a while, not mom and dad.
David took me to his haven, Ultimate Ales, a really cool little craft beer shop/pub in Mooresville.
They carry over 300 craft beer brands and have several on tap as well. And those that are local, they deliver. YUP.
I highly recommend the Traveler Jack O Pumpkin Shandy.
We were out for about 2 hours and it was great since David ended up being gone for most of the weekend. Luckily I had plenty to keep me busy!
Laundry. Always.
Despite a tough Georgia loss, the weekend ended up being a good one. Lots of around the house play, a little cooking and a birthday party with friends of all ages.
I even managed a successful grocery trip with both girls.
Not the relaxing experience I strive for at the grocery store, but we made it through with the help of chocolate covered almonds and a short grocery list. I’m taking it easy this week on meal planning and just grabbed some basic chicken breasts, meat and a few veggies. It’s a full week ahead with birthdays, visitors, another TV segment and other household odds and ends. It should be a good one and we are all pretty excited about it.
…well, most of us.
Pictures like this is why we use Eeyore’s voice as Koda’s.
Do you ever take a week off from meal planning?
Are you a craft beer fan?
What’s your favorite?

Am I a craft beer fan? 😉 Sounds like a cool spot. I think Kevin and I need more date nights.

Happy birthday, Hailey!! See you soon to celebrate. As part of the celebration one of your or David’s craft beer selections would be welcomed. Also, compliments on your new hair style. Also, really liked the dress you wore for your return to television land.

Your photos always bring such a big smile to my face. You seem SO happy, and I love your family! So adorable! I do sometimes take a week of meal planning, and I have been trying to just buy food that is in season/on sale, and then make up a recipe for it later. As long as I am getting the right nutrients for my body to recover, that is all I really need 🙂

I’ve been known to enjoy a craft beer now and than. Bell’s Oberon Ale is a good one. I can’t believe Hailey is 3! I started reading your blog when you were pregnant with her. I think I found your blog from a babble.com comment.
Oh, and I wanted to share an update on my baby’s sleep, if you care…So we tried the tips for the past few nights. The earlier bedtime has been great but she still was waking up a lot at night and nursing a ton. It was like having a newborn again because she was nursing almost every 3 hours around the clock. Then I remembered to check the Wonder Weeks app and sure enough, she’s right in the middle of a big ‘Leap’. If you haven’t heard of The Wonder Weeks, check it out.

Happy birthday Hailey!!!! Looks like y’all had a great weekend. Date nights are so important! It can be tough to carve the out sometimes, but I am always glad when we do.
My condolences on the UGA loss. Yeesh, that was a tough one.

I can’t believe H is turning 3 today! Wowzas! I’ve been reading your blog for a longggg time, even before you were first pregnant. 🙂
I love IPA’s and I’m starting to get more into saisons and farmhouse ales. Though, I’ve definitely been drinking more wine lately.

Happy birthday Hailey! My son just turned three in July. I feel like it’s a great age…the independence!
Your weekend looks pretty successful, considering your husband was out of town. I’m not sure I’m looking forward to my husband’s business trips when I have two kids to juggle. I’m pretty happy with my independent 3-year-old!!

Happy Birthday to Hailey!!
That Ultimate Ales shop looks super cool. My boyfriend and I would LOVE going there. He is a major craft beer lover and has been slowly converting me over away from my go-to (Coors Light) 😉

Happy birthday, Hailey! Grocery shopping with two is always an adventure! I never meal plan, but I do make sure to always have healthy food at home, so I can just whip something up quickly.

I feel so off when I skip a week of meal planning! I find myself grabbing for random snacks/food when I don’t have a plan so I try to stick with it as much as possible.
Happy Birthday to Hailey!!

Awwww, sweet Hailey! It is so fun watching her grow up. Happy birthday!
I usually try to have some sort of meal plan in place, even if it’s “grab a lasagna from the freezer” because it’s sometimes more stressful to NOT have a plan! (Yes, I am definitely type A!)
