So I decided I’d track our grocery budget publicly through August (week 1, week 2, week 3, week 4). I must have gotten in a habit because after meal planning and shopping, I came home and snapped a bunch of pictures again! So how about I share one more week?
Sunday– Cookout with Friends (bring green bean salad)
Monday– Spaghetti Squash and Meatballs
Tuesday– Chicken Tortilla Soup
Wednesday– Braised Cod with Summer Vegetable Couscous
Thursday– Homemade Chick-fil-A Sandwiches with Roasted Broccoli
Friday– Homemade pizza
Breakfasts- Frozen sandwiches, egg and avocado toast with bananas, oatmeal
Lunches- leftovers, salads, tuna fish
Snacks- Laraballs, carrots, hummus
My spoiled streak ended since David had to work, so I brought Hailey grocery shopping with me. This meant we only made it to two stops, but she did pretty well (when bribed with dried mango).
Our first stop was Healthy Home Market in Davidson.
Organic sour cream $3.39, organic baby dills $5.39 (I plan on making pickles soon!), Eden Organic black beans $2.39, Puffins cereal $5.29, organic all purpose flour $3.99, mushrooms $1.96, organic craisins $1.03, organic dates $3.59, cashew pieces $3.57

Healthy Home Market Total- $82.88
Next, we hit up Harris Teeter. Though I certainly have my favorite stores,I feel ridiculously spoiled having so many great choices so close by. Between Harris Teeter, Healthy Home Market, Fresh Market, Food Lion, Target, Josh’s Farmers Market and a nice Lowe’s Food I have a lot of options. I’m going to lose my mind when Whole Foods arrives here next year.
cilantro $1.99, bananas $1.42, fresh mozzarella $4.99, blue cheese crumbles $3.99, 4 avocados $3.34, cage free eggs $8.38, Cabot cheddar $3.35, lime $0.60, Cedar’s organic hummus $3.49
Pizza sauce $1.29, organic tomato paste $0.99, Rotel $2.00, wild caught cod $7.99, garlic powder $5.49, coffee $11.46, wheat buns $2.99
Harris Teeter Total- $62.73
Total Weekly Grocery Cost: 145.61
Back home, I made a batch of frozen breakfast sandwiches (PS- I’ve edited them to add that Ezekiel brand English muffins are highly recommended! I tried to switch brands once and they turned out soggy when reheated. Ezekiel brand muffins do not get soggy).
I also prepped the broccoli and romaine, made the meatballs and whipped up the laraballs (recipe coming this week).
And just like that, we’re set for another week!
What is one thing you find yourself buying every week?
