Happy Friday all! With pizza night on the horizon, all things are possible. Let’s jump right into some things I’m loving lately…
Mornings on the porch. I recently broke up my morning routine and have been heading outside rather than the office. North Carolina mornings are decently cool (70’s) and it’s really refreshing to feel that cool air and stillness before the hustle of the day begins.
Periscope. I am obsessed! I thought I needed another social media app like I needed another hole in my head, but two days in and I am hooked. It’s live streaming, so kind of like face-timing with anyone who cares to follow you at any point you want to broadcast live. I’m following bloggers, readers, friends, celebrities and even random strangers through their map function. The idea that I can see (in live time) what someone is doing across the world from me is mind blowing.
It took me a little bit to grasp the concept, and to be honest, I still haven’t quite figured out how I want to use it myself. Some people get on and answer questions or give tips/advice, but others just get on and chat/interact with anyone who join them. Truth be told, I’m kind of terrified to broadcast live. I’ve done it once or twice then immediately deleted the replay, ha!
I could go on and on, but download it, then follow me (Ahealthyslice) and see if I get brave enough to actually broadcast…
Another Whiteboard Workout. Burn Bootcamp does it again! We started yesterday with laps of jogging, shuffles and back pedaling. Then we knocked out 50 each of these 10 exercises, did more laps and came back to do 50 of each exercise again. I’ll be honest, I didn’t make it through 1000 reps in the time allowed, but now that just leaves me determined to try this beast again.
They also have 16 new locations in the works to open up soon!
Girls on the Run. I’ve been wanting to get more involved with this organization for some time now, but having babies has pretty much filled every second of my day. I was invited to be part of the committee for our local chapter and attended my first meeting last night, focused mainly on an awesome October event we are putting together- Etsy Live!
If you are local to Charlotte and make homemade goods/crafts/etsy-ish things, you should definitely check out being a vendor, as spaces are limited. You get to sell your goods and help out local girls!
My Grandma Betty who turns 95 tomorrow! Though I won’t be there to celebrate on the actual day, I’ll be getting to see her soon. I’m fortunate to have so many amazing women in my family and I’m blessed to still have two awesome grandmothers with me at 31 years old. How lucky am I?! Happy early birthday Grandma Betty!! (she reads here every morning and I can’t tell you how much that makes me smile!)

I’ve been hearing a lot about Periscope too. I need to check it out. Though really, I don’t need another social network to keep up on.
Volunteering is the best. Although I had to end my last volunteer position, I just wouldn’t make it a priority working 3 jobs and going to school. I have checked out some volunteer options for the fall though. I should have more time to devote to it this time around.

You are one organized lady!! You will have to show me how Periscope works—but it will most likely go by the way, as did Twitter & Instagram for me:(
Great picture of you, H, and Grandma Betty!

I’ve seen a lot of people talk about Periscope, but for the moment, I refuse to sign up for another social media tool! I signed up for Snapchat and immediately deleted it because it was overwhelming!
Have a great weekend!

I wish I could hang outside in the mornings, but I live a pretty buggy area so 70% of the time it’s bug central outside in the summer. and I do not do bugs..

Ahhh, I’ve been so resistant to Periscope because like you said, I need another social media platform like I need a hole in my head… but, you’re making me rethink things!! 😉
Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me says
I’ve been enjoying Periscope too! The only thing I have used it for is to watch the fireworks from Disneyland every night though. It’s really fun! I still cannot believe I can just watch fireworks from my bedroom. Have a great weekend, Brittany. 🙂

I haven’t gotten into Periscope yet but I know a lot of people who love it! I’ll have to check yours out!

Definitely get involved with Girls on the Run!!! I coached a team here in Springfield, IL and LOVED every second. My team was at a public school in a lower income area, and for me, growing up in a private school system it was very eye opening. I was SO INCREDIBLY LUCKY to try and be the best role model for those girls. I would would say we both gained equally throughout the season, and learned so much from each-other. Go for it! You ARE crazy busy, but you can also become a practice partner, which is less pressure!!!

I wish burn boot camp would come to Atlanta! Love the post about your grandma. Made me tear up.

That’s so amazing that you get to celebrate your grandmother’s birthday with your daughters – 4 generations of women in your family! At 24 I know I am lucky to still have all four of my grandparents living, I hope that I am even luckier and that they are there at my wedding and when they have great grandchildren.

Even though I do not want to, I know that soon enough I will be joining the periscope bandwagon as well…. another day, another social media platform ;)!

Your mornings look perfect! I can’t wait until our backyard is finished so I can finally sit out there again, although your view definitely beats mine! 🙂

Mornings on the porch look lovely! What a nice way to start the day!
Jen@jpabstfitness says
So you can be on Periscope without having to broadcast anything yourself? Just follow people? Hmmm, I may have to re-think things hmmmmm. My life is freaking boring, but I could watch other people 😉
Elle says
I absolutely love following you on Periscope! Keep em coming 😉

Periscope confuses me too lol
