It is SPRING and it’s either the sunshine or the iced coffee I’m currently sipping that has me feeling GOOD! Do you ever think about what a freaking blessing it is to just feel good? To have a normal day? I truly think about this so often and surely I can’t be the only one.
So here I am, feeling good, listening to Earl crow over the hum of the dishwasher and watching Finley snooze in the sunny spot on the rug. David is doing some quick travel for work and the girls are at co-op so I’m just sitting, savoring, and reflecting. Life is good. I am grateful.
Historically speaking, spring has never been my favorite season because of the associated pollen, but by being consistent with our supplements (and starting early!), those irritations have stayed at a minimum this year. This is allowing me to more easily embrace the beautiful weather and outdoor activities that make spring such a joyful season.
The sunshine is just one of things things I’ve been loving lately (though honestly I’d appreciate a little rain at this point). This post is a compilation of all the things that I’ve been loving lately. Please feel free to play along in the comments!
Quince
Why is everything they make just so good? The quality + comfort has made it a go-to brand for me lately. In particular I’ve been wearing the linen shorts and fitted tee on repeat. This casual dress is perfect for farmers market perusing. And this watch band? I’ve gotten so many compliments on the look of it and yet it holds up well during workouts and chicken chores, too.

Trail Walks
Word in the hood is that snakes have been spotted, so I guess it’s that time of year. However, we’re lucky to have some wide trails so Finley and I have been sticking to those and staying aware. But critters aside, it’s such a beautiful time to be outside! The world is greening up and the morning temperatures are so pleasant. David even has been joining Finley and me for our 2 mile morning loop- a great way to start the day! He’s been wearing his weighted vest. I have not. But perhaps I’ll start to pull it back out.

MASA Chips
As a tortilla chip connoisseur, I was sure I’d like MASA tortilla chips, but truly, they are hands down the best tortillas chips I’ve ever had. They are made of organic corn, grass-fed tallow, and sea salt- that’s it. They are hearty enough for a substantial dip, have a delightful crisp, and are salted just the right amount. I used my own code (AHEALTHYSLICE20) to buy more because we all loved them so much.

The Chicken Fence
Sometimes I still can’t believe I have chickens, as it’s something I dreamt about for a long time. Insert side tangent about not letting fear of change stop you from moving closer (literally or figuratively) to the life you want to be living.
The chicken fence is fully installed and David just finished adding the hardware cloth so the chickens have a designated area to free range. While it does mean fewer surprise front door visits from Heyhey, it is nice to know they aren’t wandering into the neighbors’ yards. I go out multiple times a day to just watch them scratch around – and Finley can come with me now! It seriously brings me so much joy.

Dazzle Dry
Did y’all know about this? And you’ve been holding out on me? When mom and I were at Canyon Ranch, they used the Dazzle Dry system (the version that fills nail ridges) on us and over a week later my nails STILL look good. This is with countless dish washing, chicken chores, and garden digging. The best part? When you use the base coat, middle coat, and top coat, it is fully dry in just 5 minutes. I bought the mini kit to start because it includes everything you need.
I told my friend about it last week and she was like: oh yeah, I love that stuff. What?! Am I the only one who didn’t know about it? I’m converted. I painted H and K’s nails last night and they love it, too. A non-toxic, gel-like finish without the nail damage.

One on One Time with my Girls
Speaking of my girls, I’ve often had the tendency to lump them together. Even the way I talk about them- my girls. It’s worked because so often it’s been the three of us doing our days together.
One thing I’ve noticed I’ve really enjoyed lately though is having one on one time with each of them. This most often happens while driving them to their solo activities. They are just at such great ages for deeper conversations and talking about life, topics that it’s easier to go deeper into one on one since life can look pretty different for a 14 year old versus an 11 year old.
My goal as a mom is to grow with each new stage of motherhood, appreciating the phase for what it brings and not focusing on things we’ve outgrown. I can tell you with complete sincerity that these deeper conversations about goals, friends, and interests only get more meaningful with time and I’m very much enjoying them in these one on one moments I get with H and K.

HERO Brand Tortillas
I am hooked on these tortillas. Each tortilla has 80 calories, 5g fat, 7g of PROTEIN, 17g carb, and 16g FIBER! And they taste soft and delicious, while being strong enough to hold inner fillings in without breaking and splitting in half like so many other “healthy” tortilla options I’ve tried.
I’ve tried their bread and know some people love it, but I found it to be just OK. The tortillas though? I’ll never be without them! The best price is found on their website and you can freeze them for up to 6 months. They’ve been such a fun way to jazz up breakfast or lunch with taco and wrap options. Highly recommend.

OK, friends, that’s all I’ve got! Time to go clean the house, walk the dog, and get ready for the girls’ musical theater productions this weekend! Hope you have a wonderful day, and if there’s something you’re loving lately- please share! 🙂
