I really, really appreciate all your support yesterday about how to get this baby to come out. I won’t lie, I’m getting quite anxious and hoping for good news at today’s doctor appointment! In fact, I already had more pineapple for breakfast and am blogging from my giant bouncy ball 🙂
But is other news, it’s LABOR DAY weekend! And kick off to college football season, too! HOORAY!!
As a University of Georgia graduate, I’m a huge DAWG fan!
It keeps things interesting because Hubbs is a Georgia Tech graduate…
…which always makes the Thanksgiving rivalry game lots of fun 🙂
My favorite part of football season is probably tailgating.
What’s not to love? Cool weather, friends, games, beer, scarves…
…sometimes even cake decorating contests!
But one of the most exciting parts is showing up to a tailgate to see what everyone brought to eat! Only a true food lover would list that as one of their favorite parts of tailgating 😉
Once the weather is cool, I can’t get enough of Hubbs’ famous chili…
and trying out other dips and snacks is one of my favorite ways to pass the time.
Though I may not be attending too many tailgates this year, we’re bound to host and attend some viewing parties, and those require snacks. I’ve started bookmarking a few I want to make…
#1. Iowa Girl Eat’s Buffalo Chicken Dip
#2. Daily Garnish’s Vegan Spinach Artichoke Dip
#3 The Pioneer Woman’s Homemade Salsa – it makes a ton of deliciousness, which is great because I can drink it!
…and I’m always looking for new recipes to try, too.
Now if I was really tech savvy, I’d create a way for you to link up your favorite recipes, but SURPRISE, I’m not. 😉
So, instead…
Leave a comment with a link to YOUR favorite tailgating-friendly recipe!
It can be yours or a link to another recipe that you happen to love.
Write what it is and put the link so I …ahem… and everyone else 😉 can check it out!
Happy tailgating season everyone!

It’s gotta be my rum-spiked caramel corn…so tasty!
Becky @ Fit Chick on the Fly says
I love football season! GO GAMECOCKS ! woooo! 😉 I live in Florida now so I don’t get to tailgate as much as I’d like. The UM tailgates are soooo different than the traditional southern football atmosphere where the girls are all dressed up and everyone is friednly. I miss it !
Kristin @ eat healthy. be happy. live well. says
I don’t do much tailgating, even though I do love college football!! I’d say chips and salsa and other dips are definitely the way to go.

I am a tech fan too! So your hubbs has it right. 🙂 I dont have a blog at the moment, but I looooove spinach artichoke dip. The recipe I make is kind of made up as I go, but it is basically as follows:
-1 large package frozen spinach thawed and drained any excess moisture.
-1 1/2 lb pepperjack cheese shredded or cubed (you may always add more)
– 2 cloves garlic minced
– 8 oz shredded parmesean
– 8 oz sour cream
– cream cheese (optional, i just recently added it. couple tablespoons)
– 1 15oz can artichokes drained
Mix spinach, pepperjack, parm, garlic, sour cream, cream cheese, artichokes, spread in baking dish bake at 350 for 30 min
from there i transfer it to a crockpot on low for 30- an hour.
Not the healthiest but definitely a hit!!

I have heard PW’s salsa is amazing. Honestly for tailgating I get most excited for the brats and hot dogs!
Brooke @ Veggie Table says
Love this post and so ready for football season…War Eagle 🙂
Here is a link to my favorite snack foods – I actually catered an art opening with these foods but I think they would be the perfect tailgating treats….

Love me some college football! Virginia Tech plays Georgia Tech on Nov. 10th and I promise we’ll cream them for ya 😉 Sorry, Hubbs!
I think my Buffalo Stew would be a great addition to any tailgate, served with some warm sourdough rolls!

I’ve had that Buffalo Chicken Dip! (A friend makes it all the time.) It IS yummy, but the recipe she uses can get a little oily (not sure if it’s the same one), so watch out for that. 🙂
Although my most popular appetizers have been Bacon-Wrapped Dates or Baked Goat Cheese + Marinara (both found here:http://www.thesmartkitchenblog.com/2010/12/easy-cheesy-beautiful.html)…you know I’d bring hummus.
I really like my “Holiday Hummus” which is Sun-dried Tomato Chipotle…it’s pretty crowd-pleasing, and with the heat of the chipotle, kind of “manly” and “tough” [Maybe?]

For at home, I love my Southwest Spring Rolls, but they’re not particularly portable, at least not if you want them fresh out of the oven…
LOVE Buffalo Chicken Dip!
Hubby’s favorite is probably Missisippi Caviar.
Now I’m starving. Fortunately, I’m headed to Penn State to tailgate tomorrow – Go Lions!
christina says
Thank your for these recipes!!!! I’m usually the dessert girl, but people do’nt always love desserts at tailgates. Hmmmph!! I bring them anyway! ha
Samantha @ Health, Happiness & Skinny Jeans says
I am not a football fan at all but I could definitely get on board for the food alone!! The dips look amazing and who doesn’t love home made salsa?! Yum!!
Still no baby huh?
Lauren says
Labor Day seems like as good a day as any to have a baby. I wish you luck, he he 🙂 I kinda sorta HATE football. I think it mostly has to do with the fact that I associate it with being cold. Poor football. Is it still a tailgate if I’m inside and don’t plan on watching the game afterwards? Oh wait, that’s the superbowl!
Jen says
Omg did you make those amazing football stadium cakes? They’re gorgeous!
Maybe baby will come on Labor day ha 🙂
Jess @atasteofconfidence says
I made that salsa not that long ago and it was KILLER.

drool!! looks yummy. I love tailgating, especially the beer 🙂

Go Dawgs! No kidding- my hubby is a Tech grad too! Those GT grads sure are smart…after all, they knew well enough to go for UGA girls! ;). I graduated in 2002. When did you graduate? Since I moved to the West Coast, I don’t see all of the games anymore, and I sure do miss the tailgating!!! But I don’t miss wearing heels and dresses on game days… Whoever came up with that tradition anyway? By Sr year, I was over it! Goooooo Dawgs! Sic ’em! Woof woof woof woof!
Brittany says
I can’t imagine still wearing heels and dresses on game day, but I loved it when I was there (I’ll bet drinking enough beer helped ease the pain of heels ;))
I graduated in ’06 and love coming across other bulldawgs! And no worries, it may not be a bad thing to not be able to see all the games… not sure exactly how this season is going to go…
Corey @ the runner's cookie says
You are making me SO excited for football season!! I bet it was a ton of fun going to such a big football school. I worked at UGA one summer – it’ a great place. My boyfriend and I went to rival colleges as well…definitely makes watching games more fun 🙂
Even though she posts a lot of dessert, Jessica (http://howsweeteats.com) always has the most awesome looking appetizers/dips/side dishes!
Madeline@Food, Fitness, and Family says
LOVE football season 🙂 You would fit in with my friends who are also Georgia alumni 😉 We are Tennessee fans and Arizona fans in our house!
Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun says
Watching the game right now and thought of you! 🙂 Go Dawgs!
Kat @ Big Apple Little Kitchen says
This might be a little weird for tailgating, but it’s healthy and even the biggest meat lovers go crazy about these dishes: homemade spicy falafel and gaba ganush!
