Now that I’ve posted Hailey’s 5 month update, it’s time for me to post by update as well. Although, to be honest, there isn’t a whole lot to update you on since there wasn’t much change this past month.
Unless you noticed that I shrunk an inch or two Guess my camera angle was a bit off.
Let’s start with exercising. For the most part I have a steady routine down of 4-5 days a week. 3 days of Couch to 10k and 1-2 days of pilates. However, since getting sick last Wednesday, I haven’t exercised hard (I did a long walk, but nothing to break a sweat). I’m glad I did. Clearly my body needed rest. But now my body is craving movement. ‘WORK ME OUT’ it’s yelling to me. (that’s what she said…)
Healthy eating has been going really well. There isn’t a whole lot to write about. There are times when I feel like I’m eating a larger portion that I might need, but for the most part, I feel really great about my food choices. I could focus of drinking more water. Note to self: HYDRATE.
4 months | 5 months | difference in the last month | difference from right before delivery | |

Overall I’m feeling really great, despite the fact that there isn’t much change. I can wear all my pre-pregnancy clothes and I feel like I’m better shape than I ever would have imagined I could be after having a baby. I’m really proud of the progress I’ve made.
However, it doesn’t mean I’m ready to stop challenging myself. I really want to achieve a stronger core and more toned arms (those pesky arms seem to keep my focus). For this next month, I plan on (resuming and) keeping up my Couch to 10k program, as well as adding back in real yoga. (I found a studio that offers CHILD CARE and am stoked about trying them out next week!)
I’m .5 lbs away from achieving my pre-pregnancy weight, though, to be honest, I’m not too concerned about the number. I feel great, haven’t had to count calories (not that I’m against it, but just happily surprised that I haven’t had to go there!) and haven’t felt deprived in the slightest.
And even on the days where I notice a bit of extra skin around my belly button, I find it doesn’t bother me. I’m a lean, mean, mommy machine and want my baby girl growing up knowing that being healthy and treating your body well is far more beautiful than being a certain size or shape.
So this month’s focus:
-more water
-yoga
-clean eating (more details manana!)
What’s your focus on this month?
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
You look amazing! Seriously, you should feel so accomplished and proud of the progress you’ve made.
This next month I’m going to start focusing on giving my body even MORE rest (ugh.). I’m in a hard spot right now where what I used to deem “healthy” is obviously not working in my body’s favor. After working it hard for the last 5-6 years, it needs a big vacation from doing anything strenuous so I can reach my final goal of baby makin’!
Lindsay @ The Lean Green Bean says
you go girl!! you look beautiful. so proud of you!
blackhuff says
You look good and you’re doing great. Love your goals.
Lindsay@Fuel My Family says
My husband has vacation for the next 10 days so my focus is family and I’m sure healthy eating and exercise will take a back seat while we’re away for part of that. Im ok with that though, balance.
Amanda @ Sistas of Strength says
Awesome job momma!! You look so great and seem happy and healthy. 🙂 My focus is training for the RKC since it’s coming up in about 6 weeks. AHH.
Marijke says
I think it’s great that you put greater emphasis on feeling good, rather than reaching your pre-pregnancy weight. It’s really refreshing to read your updates 🙂
Whitney says
Brittany you should be very proud that you are back to your pre-pregnancy weight so soon! That’s a great accomplishment. My focus this month is to workout how I want to. I just ran my second marathon and followed a rigid training plan so I am looking forward to switching things up! 🙂
Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon says
You look beautiful 🙂
And those sounds like some great and doable goals!
My focus this month is to strengthen my hips, glutes, and quads so that hopefully, once it’s warm enough for a wimp like me to run outside again, my IT band doesn’t give me trouble!
Susan @ Real Life Travels says
You look great girl! My main focus this month is to get to Pilates class consistently 🙂
Jenny says
You look good and obviously feel great! Nice work! My main focus this month is also to drink more water and I’d love to know the name of the yoga studio that offers child care 🙂
Katie @ Pop Culture Cuisine says
Great Job…doesn’t it feel so great to know that you can eat without stress and your body will know the place to go back to. I know I have stressed at times that I wouldn’t lose the weight, but I haven’t pushed to hard and just let the weight come off naturally, and simply working out and eating healthfully has done it. I hope my daughter can see this example and not have to ever stress about food like I may have done in the past.

Its easy to seem at a standstill losing post partum weight & inches, but what isn’t always shown in the scale & paper measurements is the redistribution of weight that exercise can cause. So your waist can be the same measurement, but things shift around so that its less pouch-y in the front. Therefore you can look less “post-partum-y”, but still have the same numbers. If that makes any sense. I found this to really be the issue once I began lifting weights.
Lauren B. says
You are gorgeous, and I love your attitude. It’s great to know that losing the weight can be done naturally, without obsessing. You will be a great role model for Hailey, as you are to all is us!
Adria says
Congratulations! You’ve been able to stay focused on your goal. Keep up the good work 🙂
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
Girl, you look amazing! I can’t even find a decent yoga studio around here period and you found one with child care?! Jealous! 😉
My goal for this month is Bodyrock! I’ve become obsessed and am loving every single workout. I literally get giddy going to their site each day and love how it’s challenging my body in new ways each time. Today but glutes and back are as sore as I’ve ever felt them and it hurts so good 🙂
Kelly @foodiefresh says
You look wonderful! Great job on finding your groove after having such a beautiful little girl. 🙂
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
You look great!!
My focus is to start jogging more and do it more often!
christina says
you look SO good!! i’m proud of you!
Sara says
I think you look great! Would you mind sharing where the yoga studio is that offers child-care!? I’m guessing it’s closer to your neck of the woods, but it might be worth the drive when my time comes!
Brittany says
It’s called Charlotte family yoga. Unfortunately it isn’t very close to me, but I’m excited to see if it’s worth the drive. I’m going to check it out next week! I’ll let your cute little pregnant self know what I think 🙂
Sara says
I had a feeling that was the one! Yeah, it’s about 40ish minutes away from me too. I’ll probably start at the Y down here in SC, and if I get bored with their yoga, maybe I’ll make the switch. Orrr just try and get my hubby to watch the baby once a weekend while I go somewhere more challenging and a bit closer to home!
Katie @ Legally Fit says
You look awesome, as usual! You also look really happy and are glowing in all of the photos 🙂
My focus this month is to go to sleep earlier and to continue my 10k training- it is next month!
Parita @ myinnershakti says
You look absolutely amazing! I love your approach and that last full paragraph is what makes you different. Young girls (and boys) need role models and who better than their parents!
Katie says
Looking good, mama!
Alyssa @ Life of bLyss says
just sayin’… your booty’s lookin’ mighty perky.
YOU GO, GIRL.
Cat says
You look great! Congrats on all your hard work.
And yay for yoga! If it’s CFYC, let me know & I’d love to meet up for a class 🙂
Brittany says
It is!!! I haven’t been yet, but am going to get to check it out next week. I’m so excited! What do you think of it?
Cat says
I love the deep stretch classes. The power yoga classes are great, but it’s been a while since I have gone. Gisela, Shanna, & Tony are my favorite teachers 🙂
Tina @ Best Body Fitness says
I actually see a pretty good difference in your stomach and hips between the two. And regardless, you’re looking fit and awesome and feeling GREAT!
ErikaMC says
I am 6-months post baby. I really need to and want to focus on eating better. Not to make excuses but I work full time and then come home and have only a few waking hours with my baby so the last thing I want to do is spend it in the kitchen. So this weekend I’m going to make up a bunch of stuff to have ready for the week so I won’t get stuck eating a pb&j sandwich every night. I’m also still breastfeeding and think I might not be getting enough calories in during the day so I want to pay more attention to that. I’m actually down 16 pounds from pre-baby (not bragging at all – I need to put weight back on) so I’m also trying to really focus on strength training and less cardio.
Brittany says
Oh girl, it’s not excuses, it’s the truth! I admire your for working two jobs (your day job AND being a mom). Great idea to make things ahead of time- it always helps me stay on track. Good luck this next month with adding in more calories and upping your strength- great goals!
Lauren K says
You look amazing and your routine is very impressive! My focus will be on power walking and staying patient as I continue to heal 🙂
Heidi Bundles Of Hugs says
