Another month has flown by. I think that’s just how life is going to go from now on. I’m OK with it. I’ve actually been doing a pretty good job of living in the moment and not let myself get caught up in trying to be perfect. And when you aren’t trying to be perfect, life is a lot of fun 🙂
Speaking of not being perfect…
Exercise
I’ve actually been doing great at sticking with my wogging. I’m now on week 7 of Couch to 10k, which has me running for 4 minutes and walking for 2 minutes. It’s too much running to do with the stroller now, so I’ve been saving those for days when Hubbs can watch Hailey. However, on busy weeks, I still wog with Hailey, I just repeat a day from week 2 or 3, which has less running and more walking. It’s not perfect, but I’m proud of myself for sticking with it when I can’t follow the plan exactly (something I sometimes struggle with).
However, my strength training with the 30 day shred has fallen off completely. I blame the busy holiday season. I don’t know when I’ll hang out with Jillian again, but I could easily add some push ups, planks and other strength moves into my day. Note to self- do this.
I think my consistency and quality of exercise will improve when I am ready to bring Hailey to the gym with me, but I’m not sure when I’ll be ready for that. That’s a discussion for another post though.
Eating
has been a bit all over the place, too. I’ve been eating healthy foods about 70% of the time, and the other 30% has been filled with Christmas cookies and wine, pizza or Mexican. Typically I strive for more of a 85/15 balance. However, I don’t see this changing until after Christmas. I’m not writing off healthy food completely until next week, but I have a feeling there will be a bit more wine and snacks than usual this coming weekend.
Does eating carrots negate calories from Grandma Betty’s famous cream cheese dip??
Mentally
and emotionally, I’m doing great. After my meltdown reevaluation, I’ve really focused on setting more reasonable and attainable goals for each day. I love being a mom and I’m learning everyday how to juggle everything that needs to get done more efficiently.
Now to the stats…
2 Months Postpartum | 3 Months Postpartum | Difference | Difference from Right Before Delivery | |
Right Arm | 10” | 10” | 0 | -.75” |
High Waist | 28.5” | 28” | -.5” | 5.5” |
Around Belly Button | 34.5” | 32” | 2.5” | 10.5” |
Hips | 38” | 37.5” | .5” | -3.5” |
Right Thigh | 21.5” | 21.5” | 0 | -2” |
Right Calf | 13” | 12.5” | -.5” | -.75” |
Weight | 119.5 lbs | 116 lbs | -3.5 lbs | -27.5 lbs |
I was shocked when I saw the pounds finally start to drop. I can’t believe I’m only 3 pounds away from my pre pregnancy weight! I am excited about that, but more excited about getting back to feeling more firm. My abs could use some serious toning up!
I fit into most of my pre-pregnancy clothes. A few pairs of jeans and a few shirts are still too small, and I think I’m just going to donate them. I actually don’t think some of the jeans fit me before I was pregnant, so why keep them around as a reminder that I’m no longer 16?
I’m pleased with my progress and have clear views of what I want to focus on the next month…
- arms & abs. I will do something everyday to benefit these areas.
- eating. More vegetables and more protein. I think I’ve had too much bread/cookies lately and need to balance it back out.
- keep up with the wogging, even if I can’t follow the Couch to 10k plan perfectly for the next few weeks.
Lining up these mini goals has me thinking about resolutions for the new years.
Do you set new years resolutions?
Have you thought about what you’d like to work on in 2012 yet?
Verna says
I’m two months post partum with my second baby. I still have 10lbs to go but I’m trying to focus on doing some activity everyday and eat smaller portions. I think once you have kids it’s important to focus on healthy habits that are actually acheivable! Sure we’d all love to spend an hour at the gym everyday but that’s just not feasible to most moms. But if I can take one of my kids for a walk a couple days a week and squeeze in a half hour of weights at the gym and try and eat a little healthier and smaller portions when I’m really hungry and not just for something to do, those are realistic goals and can make a bigger impact for the long run. Especially now that I have a little girl who will be watching me for healthy living tips, I want to set a good example for her! That’s so important to me!

Although life is busy and you do not get the chance to exercise as much as you want to or sometimes eat the wrong kind of things, looking at your photos one can see that you have lost weight. You are looking good.
Melissa @ Be Not Simply Good says
You’re doing great! 🙂
I do set goals some years. I did last year, and I think they went pretty well. With 2012 coming up quickly, I should give that a little more thought.
I’ve also been a little off balance with eating lately. So many goodies…

It sounds like you are doing great to me! I hear of so many women who are 6 or 9 months PP and complaining they have like 20 lbs of baby weight still.
Proof here it does not have to be that way!
I am in the same boat with enjoying holiday food and drink. I mean I’ve been still making some great choices and keeping an eye on the scale/how my pants fit but I’m also going to enjoy myself. I see no reason why not to, tis the season.

What a neat post! You look amazing, and I’m happy to hear that you are feeling well. I think doing 70/30 around the holidays is still pretty good. It’s certainly better than just saying “hey, forget it” and going all out with the unhealthy foods!! 🙂
Happy Holidays to you!
Heather @ Side of Sneakers says
Look at you girl! You look fantastic. I can’t believe it’s already been 3 months since that precious girl was born!
Jamie @ FoodinRealLife says
Wow! You look fantastic! And I think your goals are reasonable and acheiveable which is so important. The holidays are a difficult time to make drastic changes so I think just keeping up with what your doing sounds perfect. I hope to have as much success as you when I am 3 months post partum 🙂
Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers says
Lookin’ good hot mama! I don’t usually set resolutions, but I’m usually challenging myself or on some type of fitness plan anyway. I’m going to the beach in January, and I’m starting to worry about all the cookies I’ve been devouring lately. Yikes!
CaitlinHTP says
you look good AND give me hope for the future 😉 keep it up!
Heather says
every year we write out our resolutions and put them in our stocking and then pack up the Christmas stuff for the year. Then the next year we open our resolutions from our stockings on NYE, and write new ones. It’s a safe place to keep them so I don’t lose them, and it’s fun to pull them out of the stocking every year and see how I did!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
You look great! Seems like the 70/30 thing is working, I say keep eating that cream cheese dip 😉
I don’t usually do resolutions. If I want to change something I’ll do it immediately, not wait for the new year. It mostly just comes down to my impatience 🙂

Wow your picture looks great!
I do that forearm plank pose too! I just did it last night. It kills me!
Lindsay @ The Lean Green Bean says

You made some serious progress this month. I see a HUGE difference!
Kristin @ eat healthy. be happy. live well. says
You’ve been doing great! I like your idea of setting mini goals! I’m planning to do the same thing instead of full-blown resolutions this year.
Maria says
Congrats on the progress and for keeping with the wogging program!
This may sound crazy, but every morning when I’m getting ready for work, I do 20 elevated push ups using the bathroom counter and I’ll try to do 15-20 more at night when I’m getting ready for bed. If done every day, it’s a quick and easy 280 pushups a week! And since I know you love programs/fitness apps, the 100 pushup program is a great one.
Kristen @ The Concrete Runner says
You look great Brittany! I think it’s hard to eat as healthy as usual during the holidays. Too many cookies! 🙂
KaraHadley says
You look so great! I can’t believe how much of a difference you’ve made since last month.
As far as resolutions go, I think they’re kind of bologna. New Years is an arbitrary date. If anyone wants to make a change they should do it right then. Waiting is wasting time.
Katie @ Legally Fit says
You look so good! You should be incredibly proud of your proress!
LauraJayne says
Your progress is totally inspiring, especially over the holiday season! You look great!
Jen says
How is she 3 months already!? You look amazing, Brittany, and are a huge inspiration to me! I’m definitely feeling flabby and discouraged about my lack of time to exercise now so you give me hope that I’ll fit into my clothes again… one day!
Kellie says
You look awesome! Congratulations! I love the progress photos. Yes, I definitely set resolutions. Usually one fitness, one faith, and one intellectual! 🙂 Last year was a marathon, teach religious education classes, and start my masters. I don’t know how to top that actually. Dang.
Amy@ahealthyandhappyheart says
You can totally see a difference! Way to go girl…so inspiring!

I know this is an old post, but I just found it. May I ask how tall you are? I’m also 3 months post-partum with identical measurements yet I weigh 17lbs more than you do in this post! 17lbs!!! The only measurement that is different is my hips which are 1/2″ smaller than yours are in this post.
Brittany says
I’m a shorty- 5’1″ on a good day. I wasn’t sure whether to post measurements or not, but I find that info interesting, so I went with it! I certainly don’t intend to have people compare because we’re all such different shapes. I’m short and definitely a pear. 🙂

I just came across your blog (not sure how I hadn’t before, seeing as I love healthy living blogs AND I live in the LKN area!!) and your post baby posts are great! My little girl was just born September 20th so it’s fun to look back at your blog since it’s the same timeline, just two years earlier 🙂 Just wanted to say hello and you have a new reader! And best of luck with pregnancy #2!
