A long weekend of being in the mountains, completely unplugged was amazing for the soul. We took hikes, launched rockets, shot off fireworks, played plenty of bridge and rummikub and soaked in a lot of family time…
with a side of toasted marshmallows.
In fact, I even am patting myself on the back for focusing on being in the moment, which led to a few less pictures than I normally take, but I really enjoyed relaxing and spending time with family.
However, what is amazing for the soul isn’t always good for the body. A few too many glasses of wine, chips and onion dip and more than one bowl of chili has my body feeling completely off. My stomach feels unsettled, my energy levels aren’t what they usually are and I even think Hailey has been reacting negatively to my change in diet.
Please go back to eating veggies, mom!
So as sad as I am to see another wonderful holiday season come to a close, my health is rejoicing for a return to normalcy. We’re driving back this morning and I anticipate this afternoon being a time of unloading, unpacking and unwinding. However, tomorrow I will be kicking productivity into high gear. And I’m excited.
But just like we always do, we welcomed 2012 with a little luck, love and money… so at least I’ve had some vegetables this year
Are you feeling exhausted from the holidays?
Or pumped up and ready to make 2012 a freakin’ awesome year?
I’m the latter

Oh yes – I definitely feel my energy levels drop because of holidays! Thankfully last week I was able to start getting back into the veggie eating mode, but I’m still consuming more sugar than I usually do!
Brittany says
I’ll have to follow your lead on the veggies- I can’t wait to try your roasted cabbage… oh veggies, how I miss thee!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
I’m pumped for everything but taking these Christmas decorations down. Send help! 😉

We had a really low key weekend so I’m feeling pumped and ready to take on 2012, only one month until I become a mom! I’m actually excited to have a normal week again this week and I can’t wait get back on my weekly routine! Have a safe drive home and enjoy the rest of your day!

Only one month… WOW, it’s going to fly by! You must be getting so excited! 🙂

Pumped up for sure! I love this time of year … nice refreshing new start. 2011 was pretty amazing but I have a feeling 2012 is going to be even better! Safe travels home!

I vacillate between getting back to the healthier eating-less carbs, chips, cookies, wine, etc.– and enjoying the treats. Since there is still GA football today, I think it will be one more day of chili, fritoes, and beer for me 🙂 Then out go the leftover cookies, chips (that is harder to do) and in come the vegis, fruit, and club soda. But through all of this the exercise has continued (but not in relation to the food being eaten).

i think you look great! we had a pretty low key new years weekend. our house is battling colds, but i am trying hard to pack in lots of vitamin rich food.
Brittany says
I feel a little sniffly, too, but am refusing to acknowledge it 🙂

I am sad the holidays are over. taking down decorations today. But at the same time, I know my waistline is thankful it’s over!

I am so pumped to making this my healthiest year ever! Started weaning myself off of the sugar yesterday and back to eating healthier. The holidays totally destroyed my healthy eating plans and my waistline (and hips, legs, etc. LOL), depsite continuous exercise. Here’s to lots of fruits and veggies, less processed food, my healthy shakes and exercise! Happy and Healthy New Year to you, Hailey, David and Koda!!

Sounds like such a relaxing, fun time! I am feeling really exhausted after the holidays! Yesterday I spent all day in bed pretty much and slept for 11 hours last night! I’m ready to get back on a normal schedule!
