Please tell me how I have that song from the original Parent Trap stuck in my head??
As luck would have it, I was in Charlotte yesterday afternoon/evening and was able to finally meet up with the Charlotte blog crew… too bad it was to say goodbye to Emily and Casey 🙁
I didn’t know what to expect or if I’d recognize anyone (besides Emily who I met the other day), but decided I wanted to meet all these lovely ladies, so I’d just wing it. Well, I have this pretty annoying habit of always being early. Sounds nice, right? Well not when I’m the first one there, think I’m at the wrong place and look like the sad little girl eating fro-yo by herself in a corner…
Luckily I entertained myself with a completely different TCBY experience than the ones I had growing up. It seems they’ve adopted the make-your-own, weigh ‘n pay style that is sweeping the nation. Pinkberry, anyone?
I quickly found comfort in my old favorite…
White Chocolate Mousse!! Suddenly I was transported back to my summers at White Water and being in the 6th grade… the only thing missing were the fries I used to dip into the fro-yo. (Hey, I told you I had fat-kid tendencies 😉)
Even the smallest cups are HUGE. I ended up loading on every berry they had…. blackberries, strawberries, raspberries & blueberries. Plus pecans. YUM.
By the time I was half way through my cup ‘o yo, Jen walked in! Yay, I was in the right spot! 🙂
Eventually everyone arrived and I kept myself busy trying to meet everyone and playing with Brittany’s cute pup, Clyde.
It’s kind of a crazy situation meeting people that you don’t actually know, but you feel like you know because you read about their lives. I felt creepy, like I had facebook-stalked the fool out of them, then tracked them down. Bahaha!
Luckily everyone was nice! I hope to join in on another meet up so I can talk a little but more to everyone.
I did get some great running insight from Jen & Jen. Let’s just say, there is hope for me becoming a runner yet!
Ok, here’s the whole crew!
Back Row: Brittany, Anne, Jen, Kelly, Jen, Lori & Emily
Front Row: Me, Michelle, Diana & Caitlin
I know today’s post is short, sweet and food-less (except for the fro-yo!), but there are some big things going on in my company’s world right now that require some attention. …wait… here is my breakfast!
😉
…but I do have a yummy recipe to share on tomorrow’s post!
I’m so excited it’s Labor Day Weekend!
What food are you most looking forward to eating this weekend?
Please share, because I’m going to steal your ideas & make them for my guests this weekend 😉

How fun to meet up with other bloggers! I have yet to do that. And froyo makes it much more fun too.
What am I looking forward to eating this weekend? Def some corn on the cob/burgers on Sunday, but on Saturday we are going to a wedding and I know there will be a good meal plus cake waiting for us 🙂

I could live at TCBY…until I found Yoguri. Holy cow that is the best.ever.froyo. I’m addicted, it’s tragic.
Sara @ Nourish and Flourish says
A self-serve TCBY?!?! I’ve died and gone to heaven! I worked at TCBY for three years and still think that their fro yo is the BEST. The problem is that there are no stores near me now! Maybe I should open a franchise?
It’s awesome that you were able to meet up with so many great bloggers! How fun!
I have NO idea what I’ll be eating this weekend! I’m still getting settled into my new apartment and haven’t had a chance to do a big grocery shop yet…Must get that accomplished Saturday!
Happy almost-Friday!

i’m planning on making some fancier versions of stuff though and i am super stoked to try some new recipes 🙂

Soooo good to meet you last night! You will be a runner, you’re doing great so far! Just take it slow and you’ll be set.
Diana says
I’m working on trying to be a runner too…going to run my first 5k by the end of this year!!!
Oh and White Water?!?! I used to go there all the time when I was a kiddddooooo! Love that place! 🙂

So fun that you all do blogger meet ups. Too bad I’m many many miles away. 🙁 Not that I’m eating this on this holiday weekend, but when I go to parties it is always a nice treat to have some sort of dip–my favorites being seven layer and spinach/artichoke dip. Here is a “guilt-free” version I have seen, but never tried for spinach and artichoke on Bethenny Frankel’s site.

I think HungryGirl.com might have a recipe on her site too. Have a great weekend!

I wish we had a TCBY here in Albuquerque, sadly we don’t yet. I keep seeing tons of post with self serve frozen yogurt shops and I’m so jealous. Now I can add yours to my jealousy list 😉

Fun! It seems like there is such a concentration of amazing bloggers in your part of the country. Blogging isn’t as big where I am. I think there are exactly 3 ladies in my area, hahaha.
Good luck with your business stuff!

I’m going to have that song stuck in my head all day now. Grrr…. LOL
Looks like so much fun. There are so many of you there I would love to meet!

Although I’m not a big milk fan, I love horizon 1% milk!!! I only drink it when I’m home from college because that’s what my mom buys, but its soo tasty!
I’m not quite sure what I’m looking forward to eating this weekend. I made a cous cous and chick pea salad that turned out pretty well! It’s really simple to make…the recipe is on my blog if you want to look at it 😀 Can’t wait to see your new recipe tomorrow!
Mo@MommyRD says
Not at all “holiday-ish” but I’m looking forward to going out for sushi tomorrow night for a friend’s birthday! Hope you weekend is great!
Lindsay @ Pinch of Yum says
Oh TCBY. It’s been too long. Thanks for the commercial… I’m headed there SOON! 🙂
Jasmine @ Eat Move Write says
I’m so jealous you did a fro-yo meetup! I’m going to have to do that here in San Diego.
I have no idea what foods I’m going to eat this weekend. Tonight, though, I’m making enchilads! Woop woop!
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
Whoa whoa whoa..I go to Charlotte when I can to meet up with Michael (it’s our halfway point) and I havent found this Pinkberry- where is this amazingness? We found a Yoforia, though! 😛 That was pretty darn amazing.
Looks like you had an awesome time! It’s cool to know so many great bloggers are in Charlotte!
