You guys I am dragging today… but with good reason! In a whirlwind of last minute planning, we ended up down in Atlanta this weekend!
David’s birthday was Saturday, so we started the celebration Friday night.
The girls and I baked him a carrot cake, made cards, and wrapped a couple presents to go along with the thoughtful cards and gifts from family members.
Then Saturday we took off for my brother’s house in Atlanta, where I wasted no time at all getting my hands on my littlest niece!
It was so much fun to get to chat it up with Kris and Cara and let the 3 older girls run around and play. They love being together!
The reason for the last minute visit was the NFC championship game, the last game to be played in the Georgia Dome! It was extra special as it was a showdown between the Atlanta Falcons and the Green Bay Packers, and my parents and my Grandma Betty felt it was a special enough occasion to treat the 6 of us to tickets to the game, which was so incredibly generous!
I grew up going to Falcons games and I’m pretty sure several of my childhood friends were disappointed to see me in green, but given our family ties to Green Bay, I just felt called to cheer for the PACK, leaving us a house solidly divided.
As you could imagine, the energy inside the dome was unreal and SO loud. It was so exciting to fist bump fellow Packer fans and talk smack (playfully of course) with the Falcon fans that surrounded us. I will say that 98% of the fans I encountered for either team were incredibly nice. And I honestly teared up when the National Anthem played. The (slightly inebriated) Falcon fan next to us declared that no matter the winner, this is what it was all about- it was our America. I think I hugged him.
Though it wasn’t the game Green Bay hoped for, it was a total blast!
We drove home this morning and I know I’ll be off all week trying to figure out which day it is, but the whirlwind was worth it. To spend time with my family is such a special and fun way doesn’t happen all that often and I’m so grateful we had the opportunity to experience the last game in the dome together!
Now to try and get my voice back, stock up on some groceries, and find some red to wear in two weeks when the Falcons take on the Patriots– on to the bandwagon I hop!
Are you a football fan? Who is your team?
Who will you be cheering for in the Super Bowl?

I enjoyed watching your IG stories from the game! 🙂 Side note: Just noticed you are with Mediavine now. Love them!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Brittany Dixon says
New to them but love it so far! How long have you been with them?
Marjorie @APinchOfHealthy says
Since the first of November. Better pay, faster site load (which helps with SEO), and excellent service. I am able to stay home with my kids and blog for a living now, and Mediavine is a big part of that. Sooo thankful!

I am a Vikings fan, so clearly I was cheering for Atlanta yesterday! As for the Super Bowl, I’ll be cheering for good food and relaxation. I don’t care about the game that much.

Despite a less than stellar performance, it was such a blast! I was proud to be there cheering on the PACK! 🙂
