Sometimes I get so caught up in my daily routines and to do lists that I get a little worn out. This thought was triggered this morning when I woke up and realized I had nothing to blog about today. Usually I have an idea the night before on what I want to share or discuss, but not this morning. So instead of scrambling to come up with a forced, last minute topic, I decided to chill out and give myself a break. And that, my friends, is what inspired this list!
…to spend the first 20 minutes of a trip to the gym sitting in a comfy chair and playing on my phone. They give you an allotted two hours of child care for a reason.
…to eat bites of David’s leftover birthday right off the cake stand. If you don’t put it on a plate, it doesn’t count, right?
…to wear the same outfit today two days in a row. After all, I didn’t see anyone I knew and it didn’t get dirty.
…to spend Hailey’s nap time every once in a while with my feet propped up catching up on Nashville.
…to hate the (non)word ‘totes.’
…to spend an afternoon just hanging out with Hailey at home. We don’t always need an activity or place to go.
…to just go ahead and confirm that I don’t like beets. It’s just not going to happen.
…if I’m just a exclamation mark and smiley face emoticon kind of person.
…to add an extra item to your cart to qualify for free shipping.
…to heat up a frozen burrito for breakfast when I have plenty of time to make a real breakfast.
…to pull a pair of Hailey’s pajamas out of the hamper to put off laundry until tomorrow. How dirty can pajamas really be?
…to whistle for Koda when I spill something in the kitchen.
Is there anything you need to give yourself a break for lately?

That’s just what I was wondering a few days ago.. “How does Brittany come up with an interesting topic for every day?” And really, I don’t know how you do it; even this post was fun to read! You always come up with a great idea. And that truly is a talent. 🙂

Love this list, seriously its a good reminder that some days its okay to be a little lazy, relax, and worry about more important things in life.
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
Haha! Love this! I’m definitely a fan of the wearing an outfit 2 days in a row if I didn’t see anyone the same. I may or may not do that all the time! 😉
Parita @ myinnershakti says
Haha! All of those things are totes ok…just kidding with the totes! I hate that “word” too!
Kathy says
You are right, it’s ALL OK! Funny, I thought I was the only one with a list of words I don’t like. Whew!
Enjoy today–it’s one day closer to spring!

And I thought I was the only one who drops stuff in the kitchen and then thinks “time to call in the dogs!”
Jen W. says
Don’t feel bad – I’m guilty of all those charges too!
Tatum says
LOVE this post! Totally agree with the if you don’t put it on a plate it doesn’t count..
– it’s ok that I layed in my hotel bed for an hour reading blogs when I should’ve been working.
– it’s ok that starbucks used real vanilla instead of sugar free because a) it tastes better b) who doesn’t like an extra sugar buzz with a side of caffeine
🙂

I love this! I do some of those things all the time, especially the whistling for the dog. You just have to keep it real. We understand if you can’t think of an awesome topic. Sometimes the most random topics can be the most awesome. 🙂
Ashlee@HisnHers says
I think I’m guilty of 90% of those! So thanks for reminding me not to feel bad 😉
Kimberly @ Healthy Strides says
Yes to the beets. I’ve tried hard to like beets, and I can’t do it. The first couple bites are OK and then I just feel like I’m eating dirt.
Maria says
I’m with ya on the “totes” (makes my blood curl, especially when adults say it), beets, and wearing relatively clean clothes two days in a row 🙂
Oh, I’ve also taken some worn once sweaters and pants and thrown them in the dryer with a couple sprays of Febreze clothing refresher for 15 minutes when I’m getting ready for work. Ya do what ya got to do!
Ali says
Haha all those are totally fine! Love the list.
Lauren B. says
I totally agree with every item on this list, especially eating cake off the cake stand. 😉

The whole outfit two days in a row… I used to be guilty of this. But for some reason (insert picture of Avery and Emmy) I find myself covered in something (picture food, snot, milk, drool…) at the end of the day that I just can’t wear the outfit again. Jayson asked me why I am constantly washing my clothes after each wear… then I showed him what they look like at the end of a day (insert ‘a-haa’/grossed out looking face on Jayson…)
My it’s okay… hmmm, too many to write, but my its okay would be that its okay that despite setting an alarm the past couple days, I still hit snooze at least once and find my kids becoming my alarm… Its a work in progress.

I totally added a $2 nail polish to my cart at ulta, to get the $5.95 shipping taken off. if you say i have to pay $50, i will, but I”m getting a “free” nail polish out of the deal 😉
Danica @ It's Progression says
This is a really cute post idea 🙂
And I just don’t like beets either. Those and cucumbers, no matter how I eat them it’s just a “bleh!” sort of experience.
Verna says
Couldn’t agree more! 😉
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves says
Gah I love this! I hate the (non)word “totes” too.
For me: It’s okay that I didn’t get today’s blog post up at that “peak” morning time!
Mrs FF says
LOL I thought I was the only one who does the adding an extra item to qualify for free shipping!!!
Kate says
Great post, and so timely! I was dreading cleaning up all the toys in my living room tonight, and then I read your post….and decided to sit down on the sofa instead. 🙂
Avery @ YoungAspirations says
I don’t like beets either. Bleh. I give myself a break when the house is a mess sometimes. I figure I should take the time to rest while I can before baby girl gets here and those days are no more! 🙂
Pam says
Dislike beets, love pulling pj’s out of hamper, and extra 20 minutes of chair sitting (it so an exercise) at the gym! Love this post! Glad you didn’t have an idea in mind!
Giselle@myhealthyhappyhome says
Great post! Definitely pull my sons dirty pants out of the laundry or even putting on a Dora the last 30 minutes before my husband gets home so I can catch up on dinner and blogging 🙂
Suzana says
I had a frozen burrito this morning too! 🙂
Tara@PNWRunner says
Love love your list. I will never like beets too and spending time in your car or inside the gym to play on your phone is okay! I do it. Heck, it is apart of you time that we all need! Free shipping is necessary to me. Absolutely.
Jessica says
Agree with so many of these! Especially unreasonable hatred for the word ‘totes’, the same outfit twice, and pulling pajamas out of the laundry,
Katie Harding says
I am obsessed with this list, I find myself doing MANY of these things regularly and sometimes on the same day! Glad I’m not the only one….
Caitlin says
Um, I love this! Sometimes when I go to the gym I spend the first part of my workout texting while on a mat in pigeon pose. And I totally pull the same outfit thing! Especially if it’s a new item of clothing I really want to show off. Ha also sometimes I feel bad about going to the Whole Foods salad bar when I totally have time to make dinner at home…so the frozen burrito comment is definitely an “I’ve been there’.
char eats greens says
I love these. But, I’m totes an exclamation mark kinda girl (and thought I’d throw in the nonword for fun haha). I might even overuse it…oops!
I totally just sat there for Nia’s nap, but wish I had a treadmill because I really felt like running, and I’ll never know if I would have run if I had a treadmill, but I’d like to think I would lol
Brittany @ Delights and Delectables says
lol!! yes… I can so relate to ALL of this!! I wore the same sweat pants 3 days in a row… whoops. 😉
