Anyone still have a candy hangover? For someone who isn’t big on candy, I certainly have enjoyed a couple bags of peanut butter M&Ms. All I’m asking is where were all the Reese’s this year though??
Anyway, we had a wonderful Halloween.
David’s mom made this cute little candy corn getup for Hailey a couple of years ago and I could just barely get Kaitlyn into it for a picture! Like the story goes though, she turned into a pumpkin come 3pm. That is how the story goes right? Ah well.
Hailey was a pink kitty cat. I find it necessary to say that because otherwise you might not have guessed thanks to my mad homemade costume skills.
Pink body. Cat ears. Tail. Nailed it.
Ok, not really. Thank goodness for face paint.
By the end of the night she was a hot mess with smeared face paint all over her pink outfit and wild hair, but she loved it and that’s all that mattered. David and I pulled ‘costumes’ out of our Halloween bin and though we won’t be winning any awards, I’m was pleased that we were all dressed up!
We made sure to snag a picture in front of the display I set up in our front yard before heading out.
Kidding, of course. Isn’t that an amazing display? Many thanks to Josh’s Farmers Market for donating all of that to our neighborhood Halloween party!
We headed out the door with the double stroller around 6:15 to go trick-or-treating. It was such a blast. Hailey loved running up to the door and getting candy (such a surprise, right?) and the neighbors all loved it too, though 99% of them were most impressed with Koda’s costume. I can’t blame them.
We wandered the neighborhood with a group of friends and was forced to call it a night around 8:00pm when we ended up running home in the rain. Brr.
Still, that set us up for an awesome Saturday. It was rainy, cold, perfect.
David made waffles, then switched right to making chili while Hailey and I did arts and crafts.
By the way, this Melissa & Doug Princess Craft Set was a HUGE hit. She played with it for hours. HOURS.
It was such a cozy, wonderful day that it’s a shame this had to happen.
Hats off Florida. You came out swinging and we just didn’t show up. A painful day to be a Georgia fan.
David worked Sunday, but somehow the stars aligned and both girls were amazing at our morning grocery store run. Don’t worry, they made up for it in the afternoon with crankiness all around. Kaitlyn was uncharacteristically clingy. Teething? Whatever it was, I really worked my arm muscles in the afternoon though I still managed to make Roasted Lemon Rosemary Chicken (easy, but looks impressive).
The evening was a bit of a mess, thank you daylight savings, but both girls eventually were snoozing peacefully in their beds.
Let’s hope it’s teething and not a newly developed character trait.
Oh, I can’t even pick on her. She’s the sweetest.
Do you prefer trick or treating or handing out candy?
What was the best costume you saw this Halloween?

Can’t beat that kind of Halloween fun with those kiddos! Our Halloween was significant as well with the priest “saving” the cereal killer from a life of wretchedness!

You almost had me believing that that the pumpkin display REALLY was in your front yard as you continue to amaze me with some of your feats. I am big fan of homemade Halloween costumes so kudos to you for yours and Hailey’s mouse costumes!
Maybe next year I will make a homemade Halloween costume…

Kodas costume wins.

I love Halloween, but it’s hard to choose between trick-or-treating or handing out candy. This year because it was so chilly, the baby and I handed out candy while my husband took our toddler out trick-or-treating. He made it about 45 minutes before it was too cold and they came home, though. Then we took turns handing out candy with our son who likes answering the door almost more than actually trick-or-treating. :p

Halloween is a bit sad in my neighborhood. No one trick-or-treats where I live! So, we had a quiet dinner at home and caught up on American Horror Story. We’re such party animals. haha. That pumpkin display is amazing. I was thinking “Holy crap! How did she do that?!”.
Laura @FitMamaLove says
I love that Hailey had such a simple Halloween costume and that you got dressed up too! You had me fooled at first with the “front yard display” thing. I was like, woah–didn’t you just say you have no skills?! And then I kept reading-ha! Looks like a nice weekend!

Oh my- cutest family!! I love the cat outfit, so funny. I love to stay home and see all of the kids in their costumes.
Liv @ Healthy Liv says
I LOVED trick or treating when I was little, but in college, you don’t get to trick-or-treat OR give out candy 🙂
I know a guy who dressed up as the number 3 and carried around a bike wheel. He photo-bombed couples’ pictures all night as a “third wheel” haha!

That’s hilarious! I love creative costumes like that!

ahh! that candy corn costume is so great. can she be a candy cane next?
Monica says
The cat face paint is gorgeous! It is even glittery! I love it!
We only had about 15 trick-or-treaters, so there weren’t a lot of cute costumes to choose from. I liked my 19 month old’s best, anyway. 🙂 She was a fancy black cat, a-la Pinterest inspiration. Which of course I nailed…sort of. 😉
Parita @ myinnershakti says
I really thought that was your front yard! I was about to say – that looks incredible!
And K and H are adorable! The only thing cuter than babies are babies in costumes!

I love Saturdays like that! It was snowy here in the mountains, so I made blueberry muffins and actually got to nap while the husband hung out with the baby!

You really got me with your front yard display comment. My jaw dropped thinking, WOW, they really went overboard. 🙂 Ha!

The candy corn costume!? I am dieing that is so cute!
Annette Papp says
Haha! I died at the Kitty costume! And your front yard display. Was legitimately believing it was your front yard, and I was wondering how the hell you got all those pumpkins there. Too funny!
Klara says
Koda’s costume is awesome! Love it! Where did you get it from?
Brittany Dixon says
We’ve had it for a couple years, but I think we just found it at one of those pop-up costume shops that show up around Halloween!

Hailey’s kitty “costume” cracked me up. 😉 You nailed the facepaint tho! Wow! Loved your mouse costume, too. And both the candy corn & pumpkin were adorable. Gotta love the dog costumes! Looks like Hailey had a blast!
Liz @ LovePenelopen says
Lol how cute is that candy costume? We tried trick or treating and made it to three doors before P was over it and ready to sleep. Seriously gotta tell my husband to make breakfast from scratch and then immediately start making dinner <— WINNING!
Brittany Dixon says
I know- he made breakfast AND dinner. If only he was a less ‘passionate’ (MESSY) cook 😉 Ok, ok, no complaints. I was grateful!
Matt says
Sounds like you guys had fun!
