Well, actually, it’s more like getting to know me 😉 Over the last 2 weeks I’ve had a record breaking number of visits to the blog, and I wanted to say thanks for reading!! I really do love writing it, more than I even thought I would, and I love all of you, readers! *MuAh!*
In light of new readers, and the fact that I so very much enjoy getting to know my favorite bloggers better, I thought I’d share 10 random facts to give you a little more insight into who I am. I’ll warn you, it’s not health-focused, just who-the-heck-are-ya focused and something I thought would be fun for a Friday 🙂
1. In college I was known for being able to polish off a large Papa John’s pizza by myself. And did so a couple times a week. (Does that tell you how far I’ve come, or what?!)
2. I pretty much had the perfect childhood. I had (& still have) a mom & dad that love each other very much and have been married over 30 years. I have one sibling, and older brother, who (despite taking it upon himself to be my third parent during my teenage years) is a great role model, person and friend.
3. Growing up I wasn’t allowed to have a dog (supposedly dad is allergic…) so instead, I talked my parents into letting me have Sammy, the pig. I can’t find a picture, but she looked like this when she was little.
4. Because of said “pet”, I became a vegetarian. I didn’t eat meat for 5 years. Then, my sophomore year of high school I went camping with friends. All we had to eat was meat. I ate hot dogs and steak. And never looked back.
5. I met Hubbs at a Georgia (GO DAWGS!)/Georgia Tech (booo Jackets) tailgate in 2003. 5 years later he proposed in the North Carolina mountains. I said yes.
6. My favorite color is purple (as you can tell from my wedding colors),and I’ve decided I don’t really have a favorite number… just an odd extreme-dislike of even numbers.
7. I think I was born in the wrong decade. Not only do I have strong desires to be a hippie, I also have an undying love of music from the 50’s & 60’s. I picture poodle skirts, sock hops and soda shops and feel like I totally should have been around when the world was more like Pleasantville.
8. I feel most at peace and alive when I’m out in nature. I would go crazy living in the middle of a city (odd that I lived in Atlanta after college). I could easily live in a small town in the mountains and be happy forever (as long as I could travel the world, too!)
9. I’ve swam (swum? went swimming with?) with manatees in a freezing cold river. Meet my friend, Moe.
10. My biggest fear is that the end of my life I’ll look back and not have done all I wanted to do. That’s why I am determined to dream big, live for the moment and not let fear hold me back.
Now help me get to know you better…
What is one interesting fact about YOU?
Happy Friday!!! 🙂
Lindsay @ Pinch of Yum says
This is a stupid fact, but probably the most noteworthy- I was in a bank while it was being robbed this summer. It was intense.
What a cute proposal picture! 🙂
Corey - The Runner's Cookie says
Sammy is adorable! Not every kid gets to have a cute pig as a pet 🙂
Fact about me: I’ve had the amazing opportunity to run the Boston Marathon side by side with my Mom twice!
Ashley @ Cupcakes & Combat Boots says
Those were great facts! I love that you had a pig…I always begged my parents to let me get a pig but it never worked out for me. 🙂
And that photo from your engagement is adorable!
Rachel says
Ahh I love the pig! And my blog plan for today is a “confessions” post, so there will be lots of facts on there later lol. But one interesting fact that I’ve learned about myself that I wasn’t even aware of is that apparently I come across as rude to people who don’t know me. Once I become friends with someone, they tell me that their first impression was that I am unfriendly, rude, bitchy, scary, you name it. I am completely unaware that I come across this way, but oh well 😉
Mo@MommyRD says
My favorite color is purple as well. Other “confession” that I hate to admit, I have a Lo Carb Monster every morning. I know, bad, bad, bad!!
Katie @ Healthy Heddleston says
Can I just say we were destined to be friends!?
1) Papa John’s used to be my favorite pizza before I became gluten intolerant (esp dipping in their garlic sauce)
2) My husband proposed in NC too!)
3) Purple used to be my favorite color but has since transitioned to pink!
4) I was a vegetarian for 6 years.
5) I completely agree with your #10
Have a great weekend Brittany! So happy for you and your blog successes.. and thank you for singing the birthday song to moi on my bloggity blog 🙂
Holly @ couchpotatoathlete says
I’m so glad your blog is doing well! That is so exciting!
I think manatees are cute, but I would be terrified to swim with sea animals. I am getting all tense just thinking about it!
Fact about me: I met my husband at a police station. (yes there is more to the story, and neither of us were in trouble, but I like to leave it at that when I tell people. it usually gets a reaction of some kind!). 🙂
Nicole @ Getting Back to the Basics says
This was an awesome post!! I love the piggie! Now I want one…
Isn’t it amazing what we could eat in college and it didn’t matter one bit? After a crazy night of alcoholic beverages, my friends and I would EACH get an order of bread sticks from a local pizza joint and easily finish off the bag. These were those big bready, twisted with garlic and butter all inside kind of bread sticks…looking back, I’m sure we were easily consuming an entire pizza sans toppings! Gah!!
Ellen@FirednFabulous says
Holy smokes that pizza looks REALLY good right now. And Sammy is just the cutest! My interesting fact: I’m a triplet!
Alycia [Fit n Fresh] says
Totally cute post!! I think an interesting fact about me is that I’m pretty clumbsy. Like embarassingly so. Most people don’t believe me when I tell them, but after seeing me in action they are quickly converts lol
Erin @ A Girl and Her Mutt says
Your almost Sammy is adorable! 🙂
Interesting fact: I can tell you any piece of celebrity gossip that you need at any point.
homecookedem says
My parents met at UGA!! 🙂 They are still in love and happily married!! 🙂
Your piggy is soooooooo cute!! Have you ever watched Designing Women? I love the episodes of Suzanne and her pig, Noel! 😉
I love Papa John’s pizza!! Did you eat the garlic sauce too? I love it!! 🙂
Have a great weekend!! 🙂

Great facts! My sister and I are 9.5 months apart; I’m younger and was born about a month early. My mom claims it would have been easier to have twins. Second, I have a half brother who is five years older than me, but I just found out and met him for the first time about 7 years ago.
Shawnee says
I can touch my nose with my tongue. lol
Paige says
Your pig is too cute.
I have an fear of octopi and I can’t really explain how it started, but I find them incredibly disturbing. *shudder*
Amanda- The Nutritionist Reviews says
Aww I love your engagement picture!!
I just found your blog through Faith, Fitness, Fun blog. Feel free to check out my blog The Nutritionist Reviews too!
Have a wonderful day!
John J. says
It appears from these comments that your parents gave you the unique pleasure of having a pet pig rather than the commonplace “give the kid a dog”. Your parents must really have loved you and wanted you to have a singular experience that you could later blog about!
christina says
what an awesome post girlfriend! you’re so adorable. your smile is really contagious! i love the pic of you and hubs in the mountains 🙂 🙂 and you had a pig!? haha i love it!!
Danielle says
I always wanted to have a pet pig! The most my parents ever let us have was a goldfish. :\
One random fact about me: I was a competitive baton twirler from age 11-17. My team competed in (and won!) several national competitions. I also have a freaky double-jointed/super-bendy thumb thanks to a bad catch right before a competition.
Second random fact: (no, not “I don’t like following rules”) I can’t stand excessive, unnecessary noise. I know it sounds ridiculous and has zero logic, but hearing someone chew gum or repeatedly click a pen or tap their nails on their desk makes me want to kill them. Or stab myself in the ears so I don’t have to hear it anymore. Apparently it’s called “misophonia”.
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
your wedding cake is GORGEOUS!!! i loooove it!
