We may have spent all day Friday at the boat show (recap here), but Saturday was all about DC! Like I mentioned, I’ve never been to DC and didn’t have a clue where to start or where to stay. I was so grateful when L’Enfant Plaza Hotel offered to host us for the weekend.
We arrived in the evening and it was gorgeous out!
Unfortunately Hailey was tired from a long day in the car, so we skipped exploring in favor of getting settled.
I was relieved that they not only had a pack ‘n play (I forgot our’s- oops!), but brought it quickly to our room with fresh sheets for Hailey.
Our room was modern and I loved that we could see the Washington Monument from our window, knowing it would be close enough for us to walk to.
The people were friendly and we had a great stay, though I had a bit of sticker shock over the $47 a NIGHT parking. Clearly we’re used to living in the ‘burbs. How do you DC people do it?!
Saturday morning we were up and out by 8:00am. The only question was, where to go first? Luckily, I knew right where to go.
From there, I only became more impressed. Once our friendly waitress mentioned all juices were squeezed fresh, I knew I needed a fun drink.
Best darn Bloody Mary of my life… and that’s saying something. David gulped the coffee proclaiming it to be the best coffee he has had in years. And I promise, we aren’t overselling it.
I split eggs through the garden with Hailey, which contained broccoli, carrots, squash, spinach and cheese. Clearly she couldn’t wait to get her hands on it.
After fueling up, we were ready to explore. We took the typical family pictures…
…and goofed around a bit, too.
Wow, there are a lot of selfies in this post. Sorry, guys.
We literally walked about 10 miles that day (in flip flops because I’m an idiot and forgot tennis shoes!) and I still want to go back because there is so much we didn’t get to see. I was amazed by the desire it ignited in me to learn more about our history. I foresee watching many documentaries, and I want to read Killing Lincoln, too. Has anyone read that?
We lucked out that our Atlanta friends were in town for a wedding, so we met up for a quick visit with Barack.
Well, we went to his place, but I guess he was busy. By the way, how patriotic do Jordan and I look?
Hailey caught cat naps when she could,
but it was pretty much all go-go-go. She was a rock star and I owe her big this week- lots of wiggling playtime ahead!
On that note, off to start the day. Thanks for letting me share our weekend adventures!
What’s the most important part of a hotel for you?
Mine is cleanliness- clean sheets and bathroom please!
Thanks so much for a wonderful stay, L’Enfant!
