A New Adventure for the Dixon Family
Oh, y’all, I am so excited to finally get to share this news with you this morning! The road to get here was winding, but now I can now officially share that we are MOVING. We’ve loved our current house and neighborhood, and above all, our dear friends we’ve made here. Full stop. However, the time has come for a new adventure.
I’m not even 100% sure how all this came about, but somehow we found ourselves looking at a piece of property in a peaceful setting and with a beautiful view a couple years back and though we didn’t see the full plan at the time, we scooped it up. Fast forward two years and here we are, packing up our house and getting ready to head south.
Where to?
We will be moving to the Greenville, South Carolina area! We’ll have more room for a garden, more trails to explore, and dare I say even space for some chickens?! We’ll be closer to family. We’ll be living in a house that we helped configure. Though we never had aspirations to do so, we are building and have found the process to be thrilling (if not a little overwhelming at times).
We are excited, and nervous. My nerves primarily surround the kids because it’s a big change for them and I know Hailey (more than Kaitlyn) will miss the lake. They’ve been doing surprisingly well with it, though, as our conversations primarily center around the exploring and new opportunities for fun that we are certain lies ahead. I also feel confident that we’ll stay close with their closest (and my closest) friends. After all, we are only moving about 2.5 hours south- plenty close enough for visiting!
The real fun twist of it all is that the house will hopefully be completed in October but we’ll be moving out of here in less than a month, so we will have a gap to bridge! We aren’t entirely sure what that will look like yet, but we have generous parents and a few ideas up our sleeves, so I’ll be sharing what that looks like for us as it unfolds. Maybe this helps explain why I’ve been behind on sharing our 2024-2025 curriculum picks; we usually start school right now but instead we’re packing up boxes. Ha.
It’s been a bit of a chaotic year here between living through renovations and then in a show-ready home while simultaneously picking out details for the new place. We still have some details to hammer out, but I’m so happy to finally get to share this news and take you along in the process. What do you want to know?!

Thank you, Betsy! While in my dream world I’d live right next door to my family, I’m thrilled to be getting close enough that getting together for lunch is a real possibility 🙂

Best wishes!💛

I feel we won’t have any choice but to become tiger fans… but maybe not for the first game since Georgia takes them on 😉
Maybe we’ll bump into you down that way! 🙂
Allison says
Congrats – I think Jenna from Eat Live Run is now in that area !
Brittany Dixon says
I think she is, too, from what I see on IG 🙂
Joanna says
Congratulations! Greenville is beautiful and yes not too far for visits. Looking forward to a peak into the building process for you and property. We might be doing the same, buying first and figuring our plan! Good luck with everything!
Brittany Dixon says
Oh, how exciting!! It’s been a fun process and to see it come to life is really cool. If you have any specific questions about the process I’m happy to share. Like anything, there are things we did well and things we would have done a bit differently.
Sarah says
Congratulations!! As a fellow homeschool family my first thought was ‘the homeschool laws in SC are very friendly!’ 😂 My husband is from SC and we simply love it there. Congratulations, again!!
Brittany Dixon says
Love a homeschool friendly state! Though I have been researching so much to make sure I don’t mess anything up, ha! 🙂
Liz says
Awesome! Excited for you and your family. Greenville is a great city.

Soooo exciting congratulations! Moving isn’t for the weak haha we just sold our house and moved into a short term rental while our new house is being built. I didn’t realize how much stuff we had accumulated over the years but it was good to declutter! 🩷
Brittany Dixon says
Oh my goodness, yes, I feel this! We’ve been decluttering and moving stuff to storage for 6 months- lol! I hope it was all worth it for you! 🙂
Heather says
Okay, you are my very favorite blogger. Been following you for years. I wondered why you seemed to always be in my neck of the woods. We live in the Blue Ridge part of Greer. We moved from Raleigh five years ago and absolutely love it here. I am so happy for you! You are going to love it…truly the best move we have ever made!
Brittany Dixon says
It’s because I love your neck of the woods 😉 I’m SO excited to be in the area. I’ve always been a mountain lover and just feel such peace about it all. Can’t wait to be near you; tell me everything I must see/try!
Kathy says
WOW!! So exciting!! And congratulations. You will make it look so easy to transition. 😉 Looking forward to all the updates.
Brittany Dixon says
I hope the transition is easy, but no matter what, it will be a fun family adventure and good story 😉 Thanks, Kathy!

I think it will be good for all of us in just the ways you described. I’m sure there will be some ups and downs but we are really looking forward to this new chapter 🙂

Congratulations! We lived in Greenville for 4 years before moving to FL for my husband’s job and we absolutely loved it there. Such a great place to raise a family!
Brittany Dixon says
So glad to hear you loved it! I’m sure Florida is pretty fun and fabulous, too 🙂
Laura says
I’m so excited for you and your family! I know nothing about Greenville and looked it up on a map- you’ll be further west and closer to the mountains? Very exciting! We moved to CO from the Cincinnati area in 2011 and the complete transition of selling and buying a house and finding new jobs took us six months! I can’t wait to see pictures of your new property and house!
Brittany Dixon says
Yes, it will be more in the mountain area, which I’m thrilled about! Buying and selling and moving is no joke. We knew it would be a lot but wow, even more than we thought. This whole year has been a little nutty! 🙂
Leah says
Congrats! Hope the move and transition goes smoothly!
Brittany Dixon says
Thanks so much! 🙂
Laura says
LOVE Greenville! My in-laws and some friends live in the suburbs, and I taught in Taylors for a few years as well. We lived closer to Clemson (go tigers!), but visited Gville often. They have wonderful farmers’ markets and other seasonal fairs downtown on Main Street, and it’s just a great city to walk around.
Definitely recommend visiting the Conastee Nature Preserve and spending time on Lake Keowee and Lake Hartwell (they each have their own vibes :)).
Good luck with your move!
Brittany Dixon says
Thank you for the recs! We will be just outside of Greenville, too, but hope to explore all the areas, downtown included 🙂
Courtney Ollis says
Soooo excited for you guys! I actually found out on Monday🫣 I’m a surgical tech at Catawba in Hickory and worked with David for years (more when Dr. Miller was there). I’m sure it’s scary and exciting all at the same time! Best of luck to you guys!
Brittany Dixon says
Thank you, Courtney! We are excited, though it definitely will be a big change. Can’t wait to share it all! PS: David says hello! 🙂
Kelli Harrison says
You guys just redid the kitchen and I can’t believe it!! We looked at Greenville for a while, but we decided to stay in Central PA congrats that’s exciting
Brittany Dixon says
I know, and we should have done it years ago to have gotten more use out of it, ha! But I’m thrilled to be able to pass it along to someone else to enjoy!
Lisa Burgess says
Congratulations! I’ll miss seeing you in Mooresville!
Hope everything is amazing!
Brittany Dixon says
Thanks, Lisa! <3
Yulonda says
congratulations!!!!
Laura says
Congratulations!! How exciting !
First question that comes to mind is why bother living through a kitchen renovation if you planned on moving anyway? Can’t wait to hear more!
Brittany Dixon says
That’s been the most popular question thus far! 🙂 It’s something we probably should have done years ago to allow us to enjoy it for longer, but we did it to update one of the spaces in our home that would provide the most ROI and help it to sell faster.
Cassie says
congratulations! Hope you have a smooth move and blessed new adventures. how exciting for your family!
Brittany Dixon says
Thank you, Cassie! <3
