We did our best to really stretch Halloween out this year. We had a daily countdown going for at least the past 15 days and yesterday, we were all in costume by 2:00 pm.
I’m so glad I snagged a picture when we all felt fresh because the craziness began not long after. Let me present to you our most memorable Halloween moments of 2016!
Throwing a Halloween party and at start time having not a single soul there except for the magician, face painter, and my own kids.
Talk about my nightmare come to life. Throwing parties stresses me out and hearing the first child who arrived ask to go back home because no one was there pretty much had me considering reaching for a glass of wine at 3:00 pm (I refrained). Fortunately by the time the magic show started, the place was full- phew. Lucky for us because The Magic Man puts on an incredible show! Charlotte locals, if you need an engaging, truly magical act, give Todd a call.
Watching Hailey commit to painting her entire face green.
I made her promise me she really wanted it two times before going in the chair. And she loved it.
Walking over a mile away from our house and then having Kaitlyn tell me she had to go potty. (And not #1)
I ran, carrying Kaitlyn on my hip, to try and find a house with someone home. I flew past 12,000 steps on my fitbit, then past 13,000 steps when we finally found a kind stranger who let two witches come into her house and use her bathroom. Never a dull moment.
Watching both kids love the haunted garage in our neighborhood and ask to go through it over and over again.
It’s quite the impressive garage set up with flashing lights and spooky sounds. Not a single scream from the girls, just giggles. They don’t get that from me.
Pushing it further than we should and watching David pull both kids, crying, in the wagon into our driveway at roughly 9:30 pm.
Because a sugar high will only last you so long.
All in all, a successful Halloween in the books. But a quick note for the future- Halloweens on a Monday are not for the faint of heart. I’m wishing all the parents of over-sugared, over-tired kids (myself included) the best of luck with the rest of their week!
Now tell me– how was your Halloween?
What was the best costume you saw?
I saw some tweens dressed up as Alvin, Simon and Theodore- adorable!
And a Trump & Hilary duo too- ’tis election season!
