We spent this last weekend at home. Crazy, right?? It felt that way to me after being on the go for so much of July. We didn’t know what to do with ourselves. Luckily Hailey took charge and drove us to the pool.
She’s now comfortable being dunked and we’re even letting her linger for a quick second under water. No tears and she even is learning to prep by squenching up her face and (maybe?) holding her breath.
Inspired by the Olympics marathon Sunday morning, I donned my new LOVE swag and knocked out 4.5 miles. Surprisingly, even with the heat and humidity, it was a great run. It’s amazing what training with a stroller will do for you when it’s finally time to run without it!
We also finally got to work on turning our bonus room into a playroom. We’ve cleared it out. Next up is renting a heavy duty carpet cleaner, then I’m ready to create! David got us started by building these awesome forward facing bookshelves for the reading nook. Love that he is such a handy guy <3
We also spent a little time with friends splashing in the lake in just a diaper. There’s only a little bit of summer left; we better soak it up!
Finally, I made it to Target to stock up on some essentials for the week. I made the rookie mistake of going list-less which meant my hands were free to grab new things to try at their whim. I actually found a few things I’m pretty excited about…
Though I prefer to feed Hailey fresh foods, there are times I forget to prep and are cutting things close on time. I grabbed a couple of these Amy’s kids meals to have on hand. Hailey gobbled up this broccoli and brown rice mac n cheese (minus the apple bake).
This gopicnic ready-to-eat meal caught my eye. It’s like a healthy lunchable that doesn’t need to be refrigerated. Hummus, crackers, fruit and nuts, edamame and dark chocolate? Pretty amazing combo and a healthy lunch to grab on the go. Gluten-free, vegan, kosher… sweet.
Move over baby spinach (ok, just slide a bit because I still want you around), but LOOK! Organic baby kale! I’m thinking of trying this in smoothies, sautéing it or mixing it in with other salad greens.
I’ve been craving Indian food and couldn’t help but grab this Target brand simmer sauce. We tried chicken, broccoli, peas and chickpeas in this sauce over brown rice last night and gave it rave reviews. It was packed with curry flavor and I was pleasantly surprised at the spice level (it’s spicy without burning you tongue).
