This year I’ve tried to be a little better about keeping an editorial calendar. I shied away from them for the longest time because I didn’t want it to hamper my creative freedom or suck the fun out of blogging by forcing me to stick to a schedule. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how great it’s working by allowing me to finally get to some topics I’ve had on my list. Still, I typically leave Fridays as a wild card. Surveys, favorites and randomness rule these days and today is no different.
Last night I was scrolling through my photos trying to delete some and chuckled at how much our camera rolls must reflect our lives and thought it would be fun to share it. So, happy random Friday fluff to you all 😉
Starting with- what else? Food.
I’m such a food nerd that I take pictures of my fridge even when I have no plan to use them for a post or share them. I just really get excited about a stocked and organized fridge. WHO DOES THAT?!
Then of course, the girls. 5 minutes before this picture I said we are going on a walk- go get ready. This is what they came up with.
My little loves. By the way, Hailey’s Minnie Mouse hat is from Target and was less than $10. She LOVES it.
Moving on…
Does anyone else just want to jump into that picture of Yosemite Valley? #travelgoals
I’m quite into my fitbit lately. The step counts and friend aspect really appeal to my competitive nature and I find myself parking further away and more eager to run upstairs to grab an extra pair of socks because I know I’ll “get credit” for it.
Well done, fitbit creators. Your tactics work like a charm on me.
And on the opposite side of fitness– you guys have had a Nothing Bundt Cake before, right? Holy smokes, they are SO good.
I picked up this assorted bunch to bring to Dr. Parfitt and the staff at Carolina Vet Specialists. I can’t say enough about how wonderful they were over the past year during Koda’s treatment.
I’ll be honest, as soon as I walked in the building yesterday, tears started rolling down my face. Being back there made memories flood over me. Though most days I really am doing OK, little moments sneak up on me and break my heart a little. I really miss my puppy, but am forever grateful to the incredible people that helped us give her a wonderful last year.
Moving on before I tear up again…
Hailey’s drawings always make me smile.
She has a collection of names and words she can write completely on her own now which gives me a short reprieve from the constant Mom, how do you spell…
Lunch. Whole Foods hot bar. Delicious randomness.
This.
Love it so much. We had a small group discussion this week about how we, as women, can easily be distracted by what others are doing and comparing ourselves. Personally, I subscribe to a keep your eyes on your own paper mentality. I always do better when I’m focused on my unique purpose.
And…. more food.
Go figure.
Have I shared with you guys my new obsession? SNAPCHAT.
What’s that you say? You’ve been on it for two years? Yes, well I held off because I didn’t understand it but after Molly convinced me it was worth trying, I googled how to do snapchat when you’re clueless and found this video which I watched twice. Now, I LOVE it. Who else is on snapchat?!
Hailey’s current favorite princess is Ariel. I don’t usually give into impulse buys but when I saw this on sale on Zulily, I knew she would LOVE it.
Plus, she might have somewhere special to wear it in the upcoming months — wink wink. I just wish they would have had one in Kaitlyn’s size too.
I have to share one more travel picture because I was so excited that I had ACTUALLY BEEN TO THIS ONE!
My in-laws gifted me a scuba-diving course and certification when David and I got engaged so we could scuba dive on our honeymoon. As part of the course, we took a trip to Florida where I snorkeled with manatees (the COOLEST) and did a dive in the above pictured, Devil’s Den.
Can I get wordy for a second? My dive partner was an adventurous girl I didn’t know very well and she was all about wiggling through some tight spots. For about 10 seconds my tank got stuck and I thought I was going to die. Spoiler alert: I didn’t. But the event only added fuel to my claustrophobic fire.
Speaking of instagram… My friend Kat (owner of Clean Juice) and I teamed up to give away $50 to Whole Foods (ends today so jump over and enter!)
Well, Whole Foods caught wind of it and loved everyone’s comments so much that they emailed me to ask if they could throw in a second $50 gift card to giveaway so YAY, two prizes!
Ok, ok… getting long- last picture.
I want to find some Minnie Mouse jammies for the girls. I like these and these and wish H&M had all their cute Minnie Mouse gear in stock like this bathing suit (no sizes I need left!), but overall I probably just need to pull the trigger and make a decision.
Kind of random to end on, but I hear Hailey, so let the weekend begin!
For fun– what is the most recent picture on your camera roll? Be honest!
Snapchat lovers– where you at?!

Love the pictures of the girls dressed for their walk! Guess I need a snapshot lesson. The last pictures on my phone–picture of people at Trivia last night, a house I went to see, a shirt I liked, a GA basketball game, and a gorgeous double rainbow seen off our back porch. Happy Friday!
Parita @ myinnershakti says
Love posts like this! The most recent photo I have is of a hairstyle I loved for my sister’s wedding. 🙂
And surprisingly, I love Snapchat too. I didn’t get it at first, but now that I kinda sorta know what I’m doing, it’s so fun!
Brittany Dixon says
Oh now I want to see the hairstyle!!
ALso- how do you do filters on snapchat? So much to learn… love following you though! 🙂
Kelly says
I love a good fully stocked fridge picture! I do that all the time haha
Bets says
I think kohl’s has a Minnie Mouse line out right now. I know it’s not always great quality, but Walmart and Kmart also have Mickey and Minnie pjs.
Brittany Dixon says
Oh this is great news- I’m going to check them out in person instead of online- thanks!!

Fun post! Prior to my pix of Emmy this morning, my last photo was a selfie of me last nite ( hey, you asked for honesty) ….I was going to freak my mom out by sending a side profile of me after corvina pad Thai last nite that was a bit too salty, making me look a good 5-6 months preggo…. I seriously have this uncanny ability to look seriously preggo when bloated. Ok, tmi? Hey, you asked…
Amanda says
Love the pics! I found you on Snapchat earlier in the week after watching your scope, but haven’t seen any snaps from you. Wasn’t sure if I was missing something or if you maybe just haven’t snapped because I’m definitely new to Snapchat as well!
Brittany Dixon says
Oh I have snapped! I wonder why you haven’t seen them? Possibly something I’m doing wrong? I’m still super new at it!
Ann says
I’m having the same problem! It shows you under my list of friends, but I haven’t seen any postings.
Brittany Dixon says
Hmm.. I have no idea why! I’ll check my settings and see if I can find anything.
Ann says
I’m seeing them now! Thank you!
Kate says
Looking through your photo roll is fun! Thanks for sharing.
My last picture is actually from this morning and it shows my son playing in the garden. 🙂
So Snapchat… Wow, I guess I must be the last person on the planet who doesn’t do snaps. I should check out that video… 😉
Have a great weekend!

Brittany Dixon says
-the fridge is my domain so David probably opens it twice a week? Haha! He isn’t home that much.
-my legs- most likely the angle of the shot! My legs are pretty muscular IRL.
-SNAPCHAT- DO IT.
Alyssa @ renaissancerunnergirl says
Minnie Mouse, breathtaking national parks, and a fridge that looks so great I can’t ever imagine how mine will be half as organized? Pretty good life lately!
Heather says
I am just starting to get into Snapchat (dinosandbunnies). Not gonna lie, when I first downloaded it I was absolutely confused and felt so old. It’s starting to look fun, though, and that video you posted is a huge help!
The last picture on my phone is actually a video I took last night of my daughter singing Let It Go and dancing… she only knows the words “Let it go” so it’s that over and over and over.
Kathy says
fun post. I had to look and see what my last picture was (taken this morning). It was of a Trader Joe’s Cocoa Powder container…a friend is getting more for me today. 🙂 Ha! Yes, I lead an exciting life. 🙂 I also have SnapChat. It is fun. I really only do it with my family. My girls showed me how to use it and my oldest insisted I get it before she left for college this past August. So I have been snapping away with her especially. It is fun!
Have a great weekend….oh and love the pic of your girls ready for their walk!! Priceless!!
Brittany Dixon says
We live the same kind of exciting life, Kathy 😉 I love it!
Lauren @ Oh Hey! I Like That! says
Lol the last picture on my phone is of a package I took out of the mailbox this morning and sent to my boyfriend since I wasn’t sure what it was!
Julie says
Well, I must say I’ve never been tempted to take a pic of the inside of my fridge (I’m obvi not a food blogger! :P), but if mine were half as organized as yours, I might! Never thought I’d have fridge envy, but…
What a generous & thoughtful gift from your in-laws for your wedding! So cool!
My last pic on my phone is a screen shot of an announcement I saw on FB that Garth Brooks is adding a stop in my city to his 2016 tour!!! Woo hoo! I’ve wanted to see him FOREVER! Tix go on sale next week. Wish me luck!
Brittany Dixon says
Good luck getting tickets!! I’d love to see Garth too- I hear he is incredible in person!
Stephanie says
Target has a TON of great Minnie stuff right now in the girls section, including dresses really similar to the Zulilly one you posted. I picked up a couple for my 2 year old’s Easter basket recently (she’s obsessed).
Amanda @ Cheers to the Weekends says
Your fridge is so organized. I love it!! I would take a photo too if my fridge looked like that. 🙂
Kelly says
Seeing the picture of Devil’s Den instantly brought tears to my eyes. My brother was super into scuba diving and we live nearby so that was where he chose to dive pretty frequently. He passed away a year ago. Devil’s Den is such a beautiful place. You’re lucky to have had that experience.
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
I am so happy you joined Snapchat! It’s my favorite because I love sharing things that don’t have to stick around with me forever. 😉
Wow, Devils Den is absolutely beautiful! That story about scuba diving definitely would have freaked me out!
katie says
I’m jealous of your fridge! Since I live alone mine never looks that stocked, but thats okay. My most recent photo is of the salmon quesadilla I made for “brunch” I’m bumming around the house today and needed to use up leftovers, it turned out great, so I’m hoping to blog about it next week!
Erica says
I just joined Snapchat a week ago and so far really like it but I am having a hard time finding people to follow on it! I added you though!
The last picture on my phone is one of the spread of food at a potluck party we hosted last night!
Edye says
The most recent photo on my camera roll is a picture of an S. Pelligrino bottle. Yes, I’m that person who takes pictures of my food before I eat it 😉
Blessings,
