Merry Christmas Eve from Georgia

Merry Christmas Eve y’all! Oh Christmas, how I love thee. We’ve been at my mom and dad’s house since Friday and soaking up an extended Christmas stay with family. I’m in my happy place.

Christmas- family recipe making

Mom, Grandma Betty and I making Aunt Fern’s famous cream cheese dip

We’ve played a lot of Rummikub, gin rummy and spades. We’ve let Hailey open a present or two from family.

Christmas- present opening

Uncle Kris, Hailey and Aunt Cara with Hailey’s cousin in her tummy!

It’s worked out wonderfully to have a couple a new toys for Hailey to play with so she isn’t too overwhelmed at once. She loved this idea.

She also loved an old water heater box. Don’t boxes make the best toys?

And let me tell you, no one has gone hungry. Just look at this fridge.

And look at the delicious things that have come out of it…

Christmas- vegetable beef soup

Christmas- scottish salmon

Scottish salmon, sweet potato and asparagus

Christmas- lunch

Open-faced ham sandwich, chips ‘n dip, veggies ‘n dip

Christmas- seafood

Peel ‘n eat shrimp, oysters and a martini

Ok, so we went out for the seafood and it was OH so good.

Christmas- gumbo

Christmas- baked French Toast

Food picture overload, right? I can’t help it. I’ve never eaten so well! Mom makes throwing together fancy meals look easy and I love that everyone is happy to pitch in.

Christmas- food prep

I’m elbow deep in massaging kale in that picture. I hope everyone likes the overnight kale salad! It’s my contribution to Christmas Eve dinner.

With all the eating and vino, we’ve made sure to wiggle some, too.

Christmas- wog

It’s mostly been long walks, but David and I fit in a wog yesterday. Mainly so I could wear my new Nike running shirt WITH THUMB HOLES. I love thumb holes.

And today. Today feels extra cozy with the cold, gray skies, hot coffee and a lit Christmas tree. So from my family to yours, Merry Christmas!

Sounds like a wonderful way to spend the holidays. I have been lucky enough to have tried the famous cream cheese chip dip. It is so simple, but out of this world!!! When I worked with your cousin many moons ago she made it for the kiddos at the child care center and it was huge hit. Enjoy the rest of you special time with the ones you love!!

I want to climb right in that box, too! Enjoy all the special family time- we decided to stay here this year, since we flew home for Thanksgiving, so it’s a quieter holiday than I’ve ever had, but we’re enjoying celebrating as a family and will have dinner with friends tomorrow. Merry Christmas!

Completely random, but that green bowl in the first picture … my Gram used to have something just like it. The memory made me smile, so I wanted to say thank you for that!

Enjoy your holiday! :)

Please tell me the only thing in grandma’s dip is cream cheese and garlic salt…both my mom and dads family made that growing up and we had it during football games with chips and pretzels. I used to like it but the last time I tried it at my uncle’s a few years ago I could only stomach one bite. My taste buds are way too gourmet for that now ;) let me know, if so such a coincidence. Merry Christmas to you all!

Merry Christmas Brittany! I am back home in Atlanta, and it feels so good to be here with our families. It’s especially fun to introduce Jackson to his aunts, uncles, and cousins! Yay!

Have a wonderful day tomorrow- cant wait to read about it. :)
