We’re grown ups. Somehow this still boggles my mind.
Yesterday Hailey and I drove down to Atlanta to meet up with some friends of mine for a cookout.
There was guacamole as an appetizer. It’s noteworthy because it’s some of the best darn guacamole I’ve ever had. The secret ingredient? ORANGE JUICE. Do it.
I digress…
Some of these friends I’ve known since middle school, and one since… first grade? One guy I used to drink rum bowls with in college is now a neurosurgeon. Heck, we even have cute kids wandering around our cookouts now. No denying it. We’ve grown up.
I love nights like that. Getting to catch up with old friends, meeting new ones. Though it always has me wondering…
I’m in Atlanta for one of my best friends’ wedding showers. I can’t wait. Watch out, ATL
But for now, I’m enjoying some relaxation and letting Hailey catch up with her Nana and Papa John. It’s a beautiful day, so we’ll be playing outside. I’ll probably be tweeting a lot of pictures and abusing my instagram privileges. You’ve been warned.
So clearly, I don’t have a whole lot to say today, but still wanted to say hi.
But seriously, try the orange juice in the guac!
What are you up to this weekend?

Have so much fun!! Hubs and I are celebrating our ONE year anniversary! He has the weekend planned and won’t tell me a thing, ugh! I keep going back and forth between worried and excited. haha 🙂
Brittany says
Oh my gosh, what a sweetheart!! Congrats on 1 year! 🙂
Autumn@Good Eats Girl says
Sounds like you guys are going to have a fun weekend! And I am definitely going to try the OJ in the guac!

Maybe I’ll see ya in Atlanta this weekend (OK, so the odds are pretty much zero, but ya never know!). 😉 My mom’s in town, so we’re going to be showing her around the area. Can’t wait!
Brittany says
I’ll keep an eye out for you!! Will you be taking your mom out on the town Saturday night by chance?? 😉

The adult quote is so true! I’ve been making some really tough career decisions lately and always think about how easy life was before we turned into so-called grown ups. Sigh.
p.s. One of these days, I’m visiting you. We’ll sip wine, and eat gauc (with orange juice) while I admire Hailey and the gorgeous view from your deck.
Brittany says
You just tell me when and I’ll pop the cork! 🙂
Lisa says
Sounds like it will be a blast of a weekend! Have a great time! Never tried OJ in guac, but I think I’ll do that next time I make it! I guess it would work just as well as lemon juice for not turning the avocado brown?
Brittany says
I use lime juice to keep the brown color away, but I’d imagine that orange juice would certainly help, too!

Cute kids AND cute dogs at your cookouts. You ARE grown ups! Enjoy your time in Atlanta!!!
Erin @ The Grass Skirt says
I love making guacamole, but I’ve never added orange juice. Thanks for the tip! 🙂 And like you, I still cannot believe I am a grown-up. I even still refer to myself as a “girl” and not a “woman”. Have a great weekend! 🙂
Stefanie says
Have fun in the Atl!
Amanda Perry @ Sistas of Strength says
Hi!! So cute…I always wonder when I transitioned from the kid table to the adult table. And PS if Maria visits I would like to hang out with you both. 🙂

I love a good guac! I’ve never tried orange juice!
Oh and I wonder when I became a grown up all the time. It freaks me out.

I’m so jealous … Atlanta is one of my favorite places EVER. Have a great time!

Welcome to Atlanta! One day we’ll have to get together when you are here!
